WE'RE ALL A BUNCH OF ANIMALS SPECIES: Black-Thighed Falconet
OVERALL APPEARANCE: A small, sharp little bird with a pale belly, and a dark back. She’s like a falcon, only in mini – note the ‘et’.
DISTINGUISHING TRAITS: She’s tiny.

PAINT US A PICTURE
HAIR: Dark brown to black, depending on your definition of the color.
EYES: Dark brown, to black.
BUILD: On the small side of small. She stands around 5’2 and weighs less than one hundred and twenty pounds – so yeah, she’s tiny. She’s tiny, but not quite delicate with a sturdy frame. She keeps herself in shape just because the job demands it and she’s young, with a pretty good metabolism which means she can eat absolute crap and be fine.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Her size for one thing. Her skin tone – darker and more exotic, a soft blending of Persian and Latino. She has sharp, dark eyes showing that Persian bloodline in her family, and a wide bright smile. Her hair is thick, dark, and usually naturally wavy but one would have to know her pretty well to know that, as she usually keeps her hair pulled back.
OVERALL APPEARANCE: Tiny. Mini. Slight. Small. Minerva stands at 5’2, and could probably blow away in a wind of the right strength. She’s got long legs despite her size, and her body is sturdy and somewhat compact which makes her more capable that one might think, particular when coupled with her training. She puts muscle on like a dancer, and doesn’t work herself to the point of bulking up but rather, toning. She has olive skin, and dark sharp eyes with a sensual quality to them that often gets lost in the crease of them when she smiles, or under the furrow of her brow. Her hair is dark and thick, naturally wavy and plush and it comes down to her shoulders but she keeps it pulled back in a pony tail, or a very severe bun.
Her shoulders are tight and well set, hips curvy and wide despite her lack of children and her thighs are thigh, well muscled. She could probably choke you out with them. Her calves are also very well toned, she’s got very nice legs and that’s totally accidental.
TYPICAL DRESS: Minerva has spent most of her life under the impression that a person’s clothes and care for them are a very important aspect of defining personality. Well pressed, always washed and free of stains, tears and fraying ends she keeps her clothes in good shape. She dresses with a definite sense of style, but moreover a sense of pride. She does not enter a situation looking like a bum, but is no fashion plate. She likes wearing nice blouses and slacks, flat soled shoes and a good quality wrist watch.
The watch and her annoying knee high socks carry over into every aspect of her life. She wears her uniform with a great deal of pride and care, and rather than carry it as a burden it’s more of a second skin to her. She’s been in uniforms since her youth, and she knows how to care for them and wear them, and she wears them with fierce pride. She enjoys her flight suits, simply because they’re fun and functional and this is probably when she dresses the most casually, aside from during physical training and her own exercise routine and that consists of a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, obviously.

PERSONALITY

WHO ARE YOU?
Minerva is very set in her ways. Raised in a militant environment, she is an excellent team player and leader. She is bright and motivated with a sense of pride and self worth that goes beyond herself and applies to all of those around her that she works with. She has a great sense of things, including her role and she will not fail in it – not only because she is proud, but because she is dedicated, and ferociously loyal.
Her trust is hard to earn, but not easily lost and being among her trusted circle assures a soul of a fierce, lifelong friend. She is passionate about everything around her, and an excellent motivator in most cases.
Optimistic and stout hearted, she sees the best wherever she looks, not only within herself but in others. She can push and encourage a little carelessly, making others resent her sometimes though her pressuring is only done with the best intentions.
She’s passionate in all senses of the word. She does not have an easy off, and her movement is always forward and upwards towards good, better and best. She is cool under pressure, with an extreme focus that encompasses all other things. When set to a task, she is relentless and thorough, with an unblinking, unfaltering, unwavering fix on the task. She acts swiftly and quickly, striking to effectively complete her goals and there is little that can distract her from it. Her work ethic is stellar, and despite her high energy state of mind she can slow and drift and wait with unrivaled patience when such is asked of her.
She prefers to laugh, and enjoys having a good time. Raised in the environment she as, living how she does and working the way she does gives her a clear understanding of how important humor, fun and lightheartedness is. She does not stress easily, and has a gift in relieving others of their stress through her optimistic insight, and her own sense of humor and fun. She is prone to fooling around, finding the comical side of most things and can be a bit crass and uncouth. Her love life is mostly a total mystery.
Her temper is quick and harsh, and she can sometimes over-react given her passionate nature. She is the sort of temper who takes to yelling, throwing, smashing, breaking and physically engaging and it’s not hard to set that temper off sometimes. She’s touch and go – good with something one minute and the next minute she’s throwing everything out the windows. Her temper is easy to rile, and it is very hard to smother out that fire once it starts. She usually stays mad for days, hours, weeks and she does not forgive or forget gracefully. It takes patient, cool tempered people to work well with her. For the most part, she can keep her temper out of her work as she realizes it is something that could cause more problems than it would be worth, and she can look passed a fight long enough to work together with someone, but as soon as she is no longer working with that person she’s right back to being angry with them. It is rare for Minerva King to apologize, so if she does do not take it for granted.
She is not a naturally fearful person, and there are very few things that do worry her and they are usually all things out of her control; developing a disease like cancer or Alzheimer’s, losing control of her body and mind and becoming a burden on someone else. She does not fear tangible things, but rather what ifs and maybes.
- STRENGTHS: She’s bold and brassy, with a fierce drive that pushes her to do anything she does better every time. She’s a naturally lucky person, and coupled with her nervy nature and a gifted instinct for what she does her skill set is on a level few others reach at her age. She’s been in a militant environment all of her life, and works exceptionally well as leader or follower. She’s a great communicator, a good instructor, and a wonderful, helpful peer to have when in need. She’s open hearted and sociable, with the sort of personality that makes her easy to talk to. She is a fierce, honest friend.
- WEAKNESSES: She is passionate, and that passion can sour into something more malicious quickly. She has a hot temper, and she is a fearsome, almost cruel opponent in a fight. Her big personality can clash with those of a softer nature if she doesn’t keep herself in check. She is stubborn and proud, a combination which can be good but turns negative combined with her passion and ferocity in the right situations. She is obstinate and rigid, totally unmanageable at times – however, the environment she works and lives in gives her little reason to do this. She can be callous and a bit insensitive at times just because of her honest, front door approach to everything.
- LIKES: Fruit punch and most fruity candies, speed and abusing it, any kind of adrenaline rush she can get, swimming, bunk beds, unfavorable weather, night ops conducted in unfavorable weather, nights in town, bets and challenges, flight simulators, chaos and destruction – which are not things she should like given the nature of her work, scaring others, accidental loss of control of bodily functions in friends caused by any kind of in air maneuver or simulator ride, laughing, rough-housing, pouncing, stalking, generally anything an 11 year old boy might enjoy. She is allergic to both pistachios and peanut butter; therefore she is obsessed with both of them.
- DISLIKES: Anyone who doesn’t like music, seeing others upset or in pain for any reason, being unable to fix something, being in a position of weakness for too long where others can see her, paperwork and organization, vending machines that steal money, rules against cell phones, gum being clacked, people she can’t trust, people who don’t laugh, flight surveyors, working out alone, movies that make her cry, pepper, rosemary, platform shoes, being tossed around or manhandled by bigger people just for fun (it happens ALL THE TIME.)

HISTORY
---
HOW DID YOU GET HERE?
Minerva was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Vincent King, a navy corpsman married Jane Harvey, a skilled technical operator in the Navy just two years earlier, but the marriage was solid and both parents dedicated to their little girl – named for Jane’s mother. Structure was a constant in Minerva’s life, and she was raised with strict standards and high expectations but an abundance of support and love. She came from two lines of military family, grandfathers and great grandfathers were heroes in past wars, grandmothers were nurses who treated their heroes. Jane was the first woman in either family to enter the military as an operator instead of a medic.
Minerva was exposed to co-workers, unit members and friends of her mother and father as well as her uncles (also in the military) and she grew to revere her paternal grandfather – a man who had fought and survived some of the toughest battles in the second world war.
When she was four years and eleven months old she discovered her geis – a black thighed falconet in the middle of a family reunion. Her father was a harrier eagle, and her mother a jaguar.
Her parents sent her to a co-ed military school in Virginia after a mostly typical childhood. They didn’t send her for her behavior, or because they didn’t have time for her but rather because they wanted their child raised to be the best she could potentially be, even if she didn’t wish to join the military late in life.
Minerva flourished in the academy. She was happy and living a lifestyle her parents had prepared her for and as a bright, happy child she flourished. She managed top marks, she pursued everything with a rapt, focused dedication that instructors noticed. In the academy she gained rank and responsibility quickly, participating in color guard and drill teams, electing to work inventory and logistics for several student groups as well as student run programs such as uniform dispersal and gear repair. She was one of the youngest to actually acquire rank and a leadership role as a staff sergeant.
She made lifelong friends in the academy as well as in rival academies they competed with in drill, color guard and athletic competitions. It was in this environment that she developed her sense of humor so well – surrounded by others of a like mind-set, healthy, happy, rambunctious and adolescent. She was supremely happy in school, finding herself in the rank of Lieutenant and responsible for over twelve different programs, and the planning and execution of trips, activities and drills alongside the years commanding officer and numerous other officers. When she graduated, she graduated at the top of her class with more friends than she could always keep up with – student and staff alike – and records and skills sre to give her the ability to do anything that she wanted to do with her life.
So she went to college, still in communication with instructors and recruiters who helped her make her path as clear to her as possible.
College was different for Minerva – unstructured and free, with so many temptations to give into. Her attitude and natural leader’s quality brought friends to her easily, and as fun loving and free spirited as she was Minerva indulged in a bit of frivolity and debauchery in her first few semesters of college. She managed to maintain passing marks only through her dogged nature, discipline and that lucky streak that’s always been so good to her.
She pursued several romances with peers, most of which ended in absolute destruction because of the level of her passion and her drive but she failed to have her heart broken for the most part.
Grandpa King got sick during her second year in school, and the scare of it all as well as some strict talking to by her previous instructors, her parents and recruiters straightened Minerva out considerably and focused her on her future instead of partying and slacking.
To help matters, Minerva met and began dating a new freshman named Stormy around this time and Stormy’s steadying, loving nature anchored Minerva. Stormy didn’t complain when Minerva skipped out on drinks or elected to stay in as to going out; instead she praised Minerva and stayed with her. Minerva was with Stormy for several years, even beyond college and into her time in basic training and introduction to flight school. She took Stormy home to meet her family and vice-versa, and everyone thought they would be together forever but the stress of Minerva enlisting, and her slight insensitivity to Stormy’s fear of losing her ended the relationship one wet, dim, October afternoon.
Losing Stormy hit Minvera rather hard at the time, but instead of spiraling out of control she focused her grief into strength and her natural skill in flight turned into something almost unreal. She was at the top of her class, and before she had even graduated she was offered a position in an air division squadron on the west coast. She accepted the post despite a great conflict within herself – still heartbroken and quietly hopeful Stormy would return to her, and watching as Grandpa King truly began to waste away.
He got to see her graduate when she was twenty four, but didn’t hold on much longer and finally passed away at home with his family. Minerva was on leave at the time, a two month shot of downtime for her to spend with her family before she would move.
Stormy came back into her life briefly, through Minerva’s own desperate, grieving need to contact her. They spent several timeless weeks together, and when they split for the second and final time Minerva was able to let Stormy go.
She moved to Saxis in August of that year, and was assigned to a P-86 Sabrejet on the base. The environment was familiar, but there were new elements. Training that had been rigorous and taxing in flight school was pushed harder, she was ranked captain and saddled with standardization work for the unit citing her experience with it along with logistics and data in high school and flight school.
At first she struggled. Homesick and without friends, her stout heart wavered at first but she was quickly able to gain control of herself and right the spiral and direct it upwards. Within six months she was approached by overheads offering her the opportunity of a lifetime, as long as she understood the necessity of secrecy. Minerva jumped at the offer provided to her, naturally gutsy and adventure hungry she took up a position as a test pilot.
Since first arriving in Saxis Minerva has settled well. She lives in a bachelor’s quarters on JOB Hale, she has gathered a wide, varied circle of friends, she loves her job, is close to those in her unit and excels in not only everyday training but the classified operations and tests she takes part in as a test pilot. She has healed her heart after Stormy, and pursued several romances off base – though none of them have last long at all.
She’s happy, content, and obnoxious.
