N Mandatory Service? Y Military strengths: Numbers: With over a hundred million people, Russia has the potential to raise huge armies. Geography: Russia is a vast and often unforgiving land; one that even Napoleon couldn't conquer. Technology: With the country modernizing, the state of the army has improved dramatically in recent decades. Military weaknesses: Technology: Although the country is modernizing, Russia still lags behind the rest of the world technologically. Supplies: As a consequence of Russia's underdevelopment, shortages of supplies and weapons are common. Morale: Coupled with the lack of supplies and lousy pay, the morale of Russian soldiers is generally low. -Technology- Personal/Civilian Transportation: Rare Technology Type: Semi-Feudal, Gradually Modernizing -History- The revolution of 1905 resulted in Tsar Nicholas convening a constituent assembly. resulting in Russia's transition from an autocracy to a constitutional monarchy. A democratically elected legislature was established and a liberal government brought to power. Popular discontent has persisted and agitation by socialists is on the rise. -Relations to other nations- Although foreign relations have remained fairly cordial, the revolution has strained Russia's relations with its neighbors, particularly the old monarchies of Europe. ![]() -Basics- Name of your Nation: Unitary Socialist State of Great Britain and its former Empire (Except Ireland) Type of Government: De facto semi-single party parliamentary democracy with many minority party´s with parliamentary representation Political Leaders:Ernest Bevin, John Robert Clynes, William Adamson Population:55 million people Population Composition:65% white (82% English, 10% Scottish, 4.5% Irish, 2% Welsh, 1.5% Other European (mostly Slavs) 23% south Asian 3.5% Arab (Mostly from the Levant) 6.5% sub Saharan African (Mostly Nigerian, some east African), a few other extreme minorities Major Cultures: English, with even more borrowed bits, especially Indian ones Major Religions: shrinking plurality Anglican-Catholic (CoE de jure dissolved)33%, growing minority Roman Catholic 12.5%, Traditional Methodist and Baptist minority 2%, very small Presbyterian minority 0.5%, Immigrant religious groups 5% (3.5% Muslim, 1.5% Hindu, 0.5% Sikh, 0.003% Jain) A few other extreme minority Civil Service:Mostly objective skill-based technocracy Policing:Commonplace cops with little authority Justice:independent judiciary with politically appointed supreme court -Economy- Type:State owned and/or operated with a fair number of private small businesses, some residual mercantilism Focus:Industry, especially and heavy manufacturing industry, textiles, business and finance Major exports:Well made manufactured heavy goods, coal, textiles (military exports illegal as a military strategy) Major imports:Tropical agriculture, raw materials, (limited imports from foreign countries -mostly domestic trade from foreign countries) Currency:Pound Sterling (no gold or silver standard) Language: English, Minority: welsh, Scots, Scots Gaelic, Hindi, Arabic, Urdu, Bangla, Irish Trade Procedure:Free trade with other socialists, slight tariffs on others and some highly specific protective tariffs, free trade with Ireland regardless Economic Cycles:Riding a great industrial boom crescendo that will only end with deindustrialization Misc Information: Very high industrial productivity but very low agricultural efficiency, Great Britain very reliant on colonies, esp India -Society- Social Leanings:Very liberal cities and moderate rural areas Economic Leanings:socialistic Democratic Leanings:Very democratic Desired Effectiveness of Government:moderate to highly Activism/Engagement:little Multicultural:a lot, with xenophobic undertones Religiousness:skeptical, formerly theocratic General Public Health:v. Good Unrest:none -Military- Volunteer only?no Mandatory Service?yes Military strengths: British Naval Tradition: large highly advanced navy Desert Rats: Very advanced armored fighting vehicles (tanks, etc.) Spitfire Squadron: Large very advanced air force Military weaknesses: Challenges of Empire: Spread out Residual Resistance: Limited conscription and defensive capability in former colonies Conscientious Objection: smallish infantry manpower -Technology- Personal/Civilian Transportation:common Technology Type: -History- During the general strike of 1842, violence breaks out, parliament is attacked, members are killed. A snap election is called, tory and liberal candidates are attacked violently. The ballot boxes are stuffed everywhere with the name of one individual. He has the army's support and takes over the government because he holds two thirds of the seats.Numerous reforms are instituted. He dies in 1879 and is succeeded by an elderly man and long term ally of his who continues the reforms til his death in 1909. Now the parliament has returned to having many members and is divided between old-fashioned chartists who are religious and conservative soc dems and left-wing methodists & baptists and the younger more modern revolutionary Marxist elements that are liberal and seek further socialist reform. -Relations to other nations- How does your government and people feel and interact with other nations? Strange relations with the USA(Dislike). Entered the civil war by invading the CSA without declaring, renewing, or establishing alliance with the USA, but this both aided and stifled some relations. Seeks alliance with revolutionary Russia (Like). Maintains very cordial close relations with Canada(Like) and Australia(Like). Cordial relations with Ireland (Like) with guaranteed free trade. Poor organization. -Technology- Personal/Civilian Transportation: Common Technology Type: Thus far French-Western based -History- The Large Empire came to an end with the crippling defeat in Russia, who ended France's presence in Northern Europe, France focussed on Africa instead as it is easier to defend with the many military bases all over Africa. -Relations to other nations- Neutral relationship with Britain (Dislike) and Russia, (on the French side there is some bad blood, as the Russian's sacked their BeNeLux Kingdom) and a positive relationship with Ireland (If you want Reece) China, little to no contact. |

-Basics- Name of your Nation: The Kingdom of Bohemia Type of Government: Absolutist Enlightened Monarchy Political Leaders: Vladislaus III of Podebrad Population: 45 million Population Composition (what kinds of people are common): 30% Czech, 28% German, 20% Hungarian, 5% Silesian, 5% Slovak, 12% Polish Major Cultures: Czech, German, Hungarian Major Religions: 90% Hussite State Church, 10% Catholic Civil Service: Mostly Merit Based Policing: Heavy Justice: Mostly Independent -Economy- Type: Mixed Market Focus: Manufacturing Major exports: Finished heavy manufactured goods, weaponry, vehicles Major imports: raw materials Currency: Krone Language: Czech, German Trade Procedure: Individual treaties Economic Cycles: A few a century Misc Information: -Society- Social Leanings: Moderate/Conservative Economic Leanings: Mixed Democratic Leanings: Totalitarian Desired Effectiveness of Government: Highly Activism/Engagement: None Multicultural: Yes Religiousness: Theocracy, with active discrimination against Catholicism General Public Health: Fair Unrest: Some -Military- Volunteer only? Yes, in peacetime. Mandatory Service? Yes, in wartime Military strengths: Good mixture of light, mobile divisions with heavier divisions. Plentiful, high quality military vehicles. Experienced commanders. Military weaknesses: Small air-force, negligible navy, small/divisive population base -Technology- Personal/Civilian Transportation: uncommon Technology Type:Western with some eastern influences -History- The Hussite Kingdom of Bohemia was established during the Protestant reformation, with the Hussite faction in Bohemia overthrowing the Jagiellon kings and placing a descendent of George of Podebrad upon the Bohemian throne, Victor of Podebrad, which provoked a second bout of Hussite wars with the surrounding catholic nations. Fortunately, Bohemia found allies with the surrounding Protestant nations, and became an integral player in the religious wars that followed. It largely usurped Hapsburg Austria's position in the east, with the capable Podebrad kings annexing much of Austria's former domains in the east as well as Austria proper. Thanks to the frequent invasions Bohemia has suffered from Catholic powers, their population is extremely jingoistic and religiously fervent, with a powerful military tradition that draws countless army volunteers each year. Bohemia's empire building in Europe has come to a halt over the last few decades, though it casts its eyes east greedily to the Balkan territories once held by the Ottoman Empire. -Relations to other nations- Cordial relationship of mutual respect with Russia, neutral/friendly with Great Britain, catholic powers such as France they are not on great terms with. |
