![]() Party Manifesto Written 27 November 2016 Revised 20 January 2017 The Green Socialist Party of the New United Kingdom, along with its Members and Candidates Assembled, Recognizing that a transition to an egalitarian economic structure is the most natural tendency, Desiring that such a transition take place gradually under the currently established democratic framework, Knowing that there are parties which seek to achieve this goal through less than desirable means, (1) establishes that there must be a common democratic government framework which must be readily understood by all, and to that end, (A) endeavors to condense and reorganize the structure of the Government in order to ensure that the people are able to readily understand and influence said government, (B) encourages the creation of a collection of rules for the operation of Parliament in both houses, with the goal of ensuring that Parliament is as representative as possible, and (C) desires that issues of paramount importance to the region as a whole be put before the people through polls and referendums; (2) desires to work with businesses developed within the New United Kingdom on a gradual transition toward a democratically-controlled economic structure, (A) proceeding to that end to support businesses which voluntarily nationalize or otherwise allow some democratic control, and (B) noting that independent management and operation of businesses is not necessarily contrary to the goal of democratic control of the means of production, and will be preserved; (3) constructs a system in which activity of the people is strongly encouraged, and to that end, (A) states that members, both current and new, will be encouraged to join the forums and participate in regional activities, with various means of reward for doing so, (B) proposes the creation of a regular newsletter to bring the activities of the region direct to the members' attention, (C) creates a recruitment service within the region to push strongly for new and active membership, and (D) proposes the institution of forum activity requirements in order to encourage activity and cooperation; (4) maintains that not only is activity of the people important, so too is activity of the government, and in order to maintain such activity, (A) requires that Members and Lords of Parliament maintain regular activity within their respective houses, (B) supports a mechanism for removing inactive Members and Lords of Parliament, and (in the case of Members of Parliament) filling their seats with caretakers appointed by the party from which the original MP was a member, (C) creates a procedure for the automatic triggering of by-elections upon the removal or resignation of Members of Parliament, and (D) proposes an extension of the parliamentary term to three months to ensure that all the business proposed or supported by Members and Lords of Parliament have sufficient time to bring their business before the Houses of Parliament; (5) recognizes that, while the Monarchy is an important symbol of the Kingdom and its history, the power of the Monarchy must be balanced with the power of the people, and to that end, (A) asks that the Monarchy work closely with the Lord Chancellor in order to ensure that the Monarchy's interests are represented within the Government, and (B) requests that the Monarchy, the Government, and Parliament assemble and collectively work out a constitutional structure for the powers granted to each, using the current Constitution of the Kingdom as a base guide, to be put before the people; and (6) demands that the membership of the party be granted its fair voice in the operations of the Party, and to that end, (A) calls for the regular sitting of all-party congresses to determine the direction of the party, including potential revisions to this manifesto, (B) regularly elect assistant party heads numbering no more than one for every six party members to advise the head of the party. Signed, R. A. Aderyn, Founder and Head, Green Socialist Party, New United Kingdom Edited by R. A. Aderyn, Jan 20 2017, 05:06 PM.
