Welcome, citizens, to The Supreme Court of The New United Kingdom (The Supreme Court)! As you may already know, the Judicial branch is one of the branches of government that operates on the same plane as the other branches of government. What this means is that the branches of government combine to form a fully functioning government. What is unique about the Supreme Court is its complete independence from the other branches. While it is true that the Justices of the Court require appointment and confirmation from the other branches of government, the Court is the only place in which its members are free from political influence of any kind. Specifically, the Justices of the Court may not hold any other political office while they hold a seat on the Court. While it is our hope that citizens will never HAVE to come before the Supreme Court, we’d be living in a false reality to think that this is the truth. As a matter-of-fact, from time-to-time people break laws, regulations, or norms that require adjudication. Because of this, the Court exists as a safeguard to ensure that these laws, regulations, and norms are followed. In addition to this, it is not always people who break the laws, but it is sometimes that the laws are inequitable or unconstitutional. Essentially, the laws, regulations, or norms violate the supreme laws of the land, the Constitution and/or the Terms of Service. Again, while it is our hope citizens will not have to come before us, this is your chance to be heard in a judicial capacity. Best, Lord Chief Justice Frederick S. Hanover |
