I am deeply saddened to announce that I am resigning the offices of Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Ireland, and that I am officially going to depart the New United Kingdom for greener pastures. The return of the Founder, Lord Carlisle, was an event that should have brought this region great joy. Instead, it has brought this region great pain. Myself and Edward IX are releasing our announcements concurrently so that you may have the most details on the situation in the shortest amount of time. On 20 January 2017, Lord Carlisle, in his capacity as the New United Kingdom's NationStates founder, stated that political discussion on the regional message board would be completely forbidden, with bans on the "offenders". This in and of itself was a serious violation of the Constitution. The next day, Carlisle turned away a diplomatic application from the United Kingdom. He did so without any consultation of the government or the Sovereign, making decisions for this region in violation of multiple prerogatives of the Constitution. This originally drove Edward IX to abdication, which he has held off on for two days. In that time, discussions began between Lord Carlisle, myself, and others regarding the succession. As, at the time, Prince Ronald did not desire the throne, I was to be named Sovereign after the abdication of Edward IX. The reigning house would have taken my name at that point, Carlisle and I would have married, and Edward would remain in the region, perhaps taking a position in politics. A constitutional convention would have been called, and the region would have moved forward. Negotiations for my ascension broke down earlier today, however, when Carlisle refused to surrender any of the powers he had unconstitutionally claimed, including a complete domination of the New United Kingdom's foreign policy through complete unchecked control of the foreign embassies function. I refused to be hobbled as Sovereign in such a manner, and Carlisle, in turn, refused to negotiate on the matter, even suggesting that I would "threaten (the New United Kingdom's) borders with (my) office" if I were to have this power. When I asked Carlisle to make an alternative proposal, he refused, with "better s**t to do." In addition, Carlisle, in a recent statement, has basically said that the Constitution which I have worked so hard to protect and build upon, and would have continued to do so with the constitutional convention, will be useless. Carlisle has decreed, effectively, that the Founder and Royals are not subject to the law. This I cannot abide under any circumstances. I believe Carlisle is committed to this region, however, I believe he has the wrong way of going about it, and his refusal to negotiate or compromise is deeply unsettling. Therefore, I will have no part in it any longer. Thank you all for accepting me as your Prime Minister. I apologize if I have not lived up to your expectations, but I do not regret the stands I have made, nor do I regret the one I am making now. Thank you all for making me a part of your regional community. It has been much fun, however, I feel I cannot support the style of rule that our Founder has chosen to take and in good conscience remain here as a proponent of democracy. Farewell, and if you have any questions, I am available on Skype or by telegram on NS at the nations Ryzalia and Mewsland. Regards, R. A. Aderyn Former Prime Minister of the New United Kingdom |
