Posts: 363 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: February 8, 2008	In the year 2006, former Presidential candidate Al Gore produced "An Inconvenient Truth", a warning to all humans that something was coming quickly if policies on the environment had stayed the same and that something was not good. By the year 2011, environmental agencies forced an international turnaround, the likes of which had never been seen before. Gasoline was eradicated, plastic was recreated not using petroleum, burning of any kind was fiercely regulated. In the end, however, the damage was done. People began to notice the rising waters around the year 2015. They noted that while ice caps and glaciers had long been receding, waters had yet to rise severely. This changed, though, and rather quickly, almost as if someone opened the flood gates. As oceans began to consume low-level cities, nations, continents, everyone began to panic. Christian proclaimers stood on flooded street corners yelling "REPENT, THE END IS NEAR!", wars over high-level land masses were waged fiercely, and billions were eradicated by rising waters. Eventually, even the mighty Everest was consumed. Humans were forced to live in the floating remains of their cities. They built upon these remains, and eventually the became the precursors to the Arcs of today. Great cities were eventually amassed without sinking into the vast expanse. Technology flourished, despite the vast decrease in human numbers. Sometimes, when a species is victim of near extinction, vast jumps in genetics allow a new offshoot of a species. This was the case of the beginnings of the mutants. Around the year 2450, children were born with amazing powers and mutations. At first, mutants were shunned for their appearance and all around "disturbing aura". Eventually, though, they were accepted into the general populace, as most only wanted to further their human compatriots. In addition to the creation of the mutants, droids were first created during the "Age of Water" as this era came to be called. When the need for cheap labor forces to keep the cities afloat arose, scientists convened to create the first service intelligences. Eventually, they deviated from this path to create totally artificial sentient intelligences that would serve no one. While at first, this sparked a vast uproar between both the human and the then-blooming mutant populace for fear of an uprising. However, when the intelligence, "Marcato", was introduced to the public, it was revealed to be peaceful and loving, much like a newborn baby. It seemed to "give birth" to lesser intelligences, and these never acted outside of the commands Marcato gave them but were otherwise totally sentient. Eventually, bodies were made for these intelligences, and thus was began the droid race. Eventually, the waters began to recede. No one knows for sure when they began, but the first sign of land appeared around 3010. When land appeared, it was not how it was drawn in maps. A single crescent shaped mass was all that was left of all the great mountains of Nepal, the vast forest of Africa, the bustling cities of America. Produce could barely grow anywhere, and where it couldn't, strange beings roamed, attacking all that dared wander about the Wilds, as they came to be called. Settlements were far and few between. The need for space grew, and eventually, humans and droids looked to the sky for the answer. The first Arc, current day Avaris, is arguably considered the one of greatest achievement in history. A collaboration effort between humans, mutants, and droids, it marked the beginning of a golden age. Droids soon followed suit, constructing Arcs to provide living areas for their people. Mutants were quite content with living on the ground. They wanted to commune with the spirit of the earth, the recently discovered Eonmind, the consciousness behind the mysterious creatures. And so, humans and droids created and moved to the Arcs. It is currently around 3600. Relations between all races and have been relatively good. The Wilds are a place of hunting, where the Eonmind allows the killing of it's drones to sustain it's own life. Renegades populate areas of the Wilds that are safe from Drone attack. In the sky, vast and many arcs populate the sky, and on them live millions of humans and droids. All is peaceful. Edited by The Rock, Nov 14 2008, 08:50 PM.
