So now you have your character created and approved (or not, whatever floats your boat), and now you have him all set to go off into the land. So...now what? Well, one route you could take is missions and hunts. These are various goal-oriented mini-plots in which can give you rewards that can include experience, weapons, positions of power, or even new abilities. To take up a mission, visit the mission and hunt boards and post in whatever mission you want to do. Missions are rated in toughness by stars (*). Missions with one star are usually done by newbies, while missions with six or seven stars are undertaken by seasoned veterans. Only one person can take up a mission unless the request demands otherwise. Rewards are determined by how well you RP, how well you finish the mission, and by how detailed and high-quality your posts are. In addition, missions with more stars give out bigger rewards (^ risk = ^ reward). Longer posts don't necessarily mean you're gauranteed good rewards, but it's usually the case. Remember that when you RP. As well, there are special open-to-all missions called Crises. A crisis is something like a riot, a terrorist attack, or something of the sort. Any character and any number of characters can take a crisis, even midway through. Rewards are based on length in the crisis as well as the other mission criteria. Hunts are like missions in that you need to take them up and finish goals in order to get rewards. That's where similarities end, though. A hunt is an attempt to kill a extremely powerful Drone, possibly an alpha male or something from the Barren Cap. These Drones are usually called in to be hunted by checkpoints that spot them or by encampments under attack by them. Rarely, they even attack Arcs. Rewards are predetirmined before the hunt starts. RPing quality and thought will factor into experience and secondary rewards such as currency, but most of the payout will be already have been chosen by the time the first attack lands A hunt can be taken up by multiple characters, and this is encouraged. While going alone means more rewards, it also means extremely high risk of getting killed. Going with more characters means that your chances of survival are increased, but the rewards are less. Getting a good balance of skill and number of characters is essential in taking up a hunt so that rewards can be divied up easily. You can only be in one hunt or mission at a single time. This is to prevent players from taking every single mission and keep other players from getting rewards. Of course, there can be an occassional, designated, "non-canon" mission which is just for fun and be taken even though you are already in a mission or other topic. |
