Name: Draiken Talkos
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Race: Mutant
Origin: New Lands > Beville

Description
Physical
5'7", Draiken's body is well built with callused, long-fingered hands from years of farmwork. His agility and flexibility is difficult to rival among most mutants in Beville and makes it easier for him to do certain tasks, such as climbing trees. Despite his stature, Draiken is extraordinarily light (just over 115 lbs). Sadness belie the bright spark of vitality in his forest-green eyes, framed by a kind face and topped with black bangs at eye-level (at the back, his black hair reaches the middle of his neck). He wears leather armor with his two katanas on his belt under a simple traveler's cloak.

Personality
Although easy to be friends with, Draiken is often slightly tense when talking to other people, especially trying to keep his guard up in places he haven't been to before. His face, although kind, is neutral in intention, making Draiken difficult to read at times. However, Draiken has a difficult time disguising his feelings through his eyes; despite the glint of energy and life his eyes hold, people can often tell that there is something more guarded beneath the glint. Years of work have taught Draiken not to complain and have also made him difficult to anger. Because of his work on the land, Draiken feels an affinity with nature and holds a slight dislike against technology and machinery, but he does not deny its usefulness. Determined to get the job done, Draiken Talkos is a reliable person to have around.

Biography
Raised on the farmlands of Beville, Draiken Talkos learned how to care for the land and to defend it. His mother taught him kindness to the earth while his father taught him how to make the earth usable for farming with the various tools. With strict evening training from his father for six years, Draiken became ambidextrous and practiced fighting with two wooden training swords, one in each hand, to be able to fight for himself, his beliefs, and the land he lived on. These ideals were supported by his mother, who also taught him that force was not always the answer and that kindness often made nature yield more easily than brute force. These lessons Draiken kept in his heart throughout his currently short life everywhere he went; on the field, in the house, everywhere.

Often Draiken went with his parents to Kumbar to let him see the markets while trading freshly harvested vegetables for other supplies needed. Draiken got to see more of the world and learned how to bargain from his father. Life was good for the simple farming family, especially for their learning son.

However, one fateful day, when Draiken was 13, a stray drone rushed through the fields of Beville, scattering farmers in their panic. Trying to protect Draiken, his mother carried him away as he was practicing his fighting in his spare time. Her last words to him were to run away and not look back. Draiken followed the former bit, but the latter he disobeyed. He saw the drone run his mother down and kill her. Crying, he continued to run to the shelter made several years back in preparation for such an event. Safe in his father's arms within the shelter, Draiken made a promise to himself to train harder to be able to protect other people and his home better than he was that day. That day, Draiken's mutant powers awoke

The next few months were spent in grief and sadness as Draiken and his father cremated his mother and spread her ashes among the field, hoping that her spirit will live on and bring good harvest to the crops. Still, it was difficult on the both of them, and Draiken carried that memory in his heart like a scar to remind him of his promise. But what were his powers and when did he realize them?

Ask the sickle he used to cut the wheat. Being old, the sickle was getting more and more blunt, and it was progressively becoming more difficult to cut crops with it. Draiken was just about to walk back to the shed and get a different one when his slash cut through the cornstalks easily. Feeling the sickle, Draiken didn't quite make it to the blade when he felt a sharp edge. Focusing on that edge and slashing horizontally, Draiken cut down five cornstalks at once. He tried to repeat the action without the sickle but failed. His Lightning abilities came later with the same sickle when a spark emitted from the tool touching the spade. His father, who was in the shed with him, noticed and talked to him about the day's events and confirmed that Draiken had obtained his mutant powers, but he couldn't use them without the use of another object.

The next time they went to Kumbar, Draiken's father made a special order while Draiken tended to the stall to sell harvested goods. The order did not come till the next time they went to Kumbar the next year, but it was worth the wait. Draiken trained with his new twin katanas every evening, soon mastering the Aeroblade technique after learning about his Wind and Lightning Edge abilities.

Three years he spent honing his abilities and learning his Discharge abilities. His Discharge - Warp technique wasn't learned until Draiken nearly fell out of a platform in a tree. Already knowing Discharge - ZapShot at this point, Draiken thought to use the electric blast to cushion his fall, but little did he know that it would instead zoom him back up, cause his back to slam against the branch above him, and fall to the ground again, crashing into branches on his way down until he landed with his katanas by his side, unharmed except for the few bruises that refused to go away for a few weeks.

After learning the limits of his Discharge - Warp and mastering maneuvering with it, Draiken's father told him to leave the farm. There was little left for him to learn on the farm, and his mother would have wanted to him to see more of the world was his father's explanation. Without protest, Draiken packed his few belongings and left the farm. His first destination would be to Kumbar, where he would gather information about where he should go next and start his journey in the New Age.

(Also, Draiken does not know that his father lost his own powers after fighting with a plasma rifle to defend himself, but that's just an extra tidbit.)

Primary Weapon
Kaze-Rai
>Description<
A set of twin katanas that hold a kanji on each side of the blades. On one blade, the kanji for 'kaze' is imprinted on it; on the other, the kanji for 'rai'. Thanks to a special ink and Draiken's ability (described below), the kanji are able to travel up and down the blades at will.
>Type< Melee - Bladed
>Rank< Rank 1 per blade
>Gauge Usage< 1 per blade
>Notes<
-Kanji activate for special attacks.

Abilities
***Note: Because Draiken cannot harness his elemental powers of Wind and Lightning yet (his mutant ability), he has to channel his powers through a medium (i.e. Kaze-Rai), so all of his current attacks require him to hold his swords. He may gain enough skill wield his elements to do so without Kaze-Rai, but that is a long, long way off.***
Also, to explain the kanji, the electic/aero force channeled by Draiken travels along the blades to allow the kanji to move. Farfetched and can change if needed.

Wind Edge
>Description<
Using the Kaze katana as a medium to channel his powers, Draiken unconsciously gathers air to the edge of his blade for increased sharpness. Doesn't make much of a difference against metal, though.
>Type< Passive
>Notes<
-Negates plasma shields and barriers for Kaze

Lightning Edge
>Description<
Similar to Wind Edge, Draiken gathers electricity along Rai's edge, also sharpening the blade. A bit more effective against metal (and therefore droids), but in the mostly mechanical world of NAD, most metals resist conductivity, so the electric edge is more suitable for other humans/mutants.
>Type< Passive
>Notes<
-Against biological opponents, Lightning Edge may stun the opponent for Rai

Aeroblade
>Description<
Only slashing with Kaze, Draiken focuses on releasing the Wind Edge and lets it fly towards an opponent. Because it is only air, it is difficult to see, but it is not very sharp and will do minimal damage i.e. shallow cuts, at the very least if hit.
>Type< Active
>Rank< 1
>Gauge Usage< 2
>Notes<
-Can be used as long as Draiken can slash because Wind Edge enables usage of the Aeroblade
-Hits all in direction
-Range: 10 ft. Blades of air probably can't last well over longer distances.

Discharge - ZapShot
>Description<
While standing on the ground, Draiken moves the kanji on both blades to the tip and touches the kanji together. The result of the two elemental powers is a somewhat weak bolt of lightning that travels in a straight line to a target. The wind carries particles for the lightning to gather in and go to the nearest target in the path that the blades are pointed in. The moment the kanji touch, the electricity charges and releases (discharges) itself quickly for a lightning-speed attack. This can be easily dodged by seeing where the blade points, but avoiding the discharged lightning itself could be difficult to evade completely (meaning that Draiken could hit an arm or shoulder while aiming towards the chest).
>Type< Active
>Rank< 2
>Gauge Usage< 2
>Notes<
-One target

Discharge - Warp
>Description<
Only usable while in the air, Draiken touches the kanji for a different effect. Without the ground beneath him to hold himself steady and release lightning through the blade tips, the discharge 'warps' Draiken through the air in the opposite direction that a leading blade is pointing at. (Explanation: By pointing his katanas to a side, one blade will point farther out than another. That blade determines the direction. Because the kanji can move at Draiken's will, he can manipulate them to be able to touch even with the distance difference). This ability is mostly helpful for evading airborne attacks, but as no offensive ability at all (unless you count Draiken crashing into someone/something).
>Type< Active
>Rank< n/a
>Gauge Usage< 2
>Notes<
-Only occurs while Draiken is in the air
-Can be used a maximum of 5 times per battle because being through the air so forcefully is tiring on Draiken's body. May increase with experience.
