No gauge usage to switch/add a Mod)) Curtis began charging at Draiken, his shoulder forward. Draiken was ready to run, but noticed Curtis being surprisingly quick and having the initiative. If he grabbed Draiken, one could only imagine what would happen. Upstairs, many footsteps were heard. Shouts, stamping, falling. One helluva battle must be taking place. 4 against a couple dozen at least. Draiken: 54 Krin: 1 Curtis: 40

Not waiting long to see the reaction, the young mutant slung Krin over his left shoulder with some difficulty and headed towards the stairs, hoping that the Bright Bullet would give him enough time to make it up the stairwell. From there, he'd see the condition of the battle above and have an easier target of Curtis from below, but first, Draiken needed to actually get up there. ---------------------------- HP:54 +Start of Turn: +2 +Fire Modded Magnum: -4 (from mod) - 1 (from Curtis) = -5 \|I---------------\| Tekt Magnum Type: Plasma Damage: Rank 2 + Blindness 2 Gauge Usage: 5

Doo Wop. Posts: 363 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: February 8, 2008	As Curtis charged, he once more enshrouded himself in a fog, this time red in color (Curtis Defense Up!). Draiken's flaring bullet hit its mark, but it didn't seem to affect Curtis' charge. Though now blinded, he managed to halfway tackle Draiken, though missed any chance to grab hold of him (Curtis -4 HP, Draiken -5 HP) Draiken managed to regain his balance and carry the weak Krin upstairs, leaving a writhing Curtis behind. Upstairs, a battle was ensuing. Bot-Nero was firing upon a swath of enemies, many things were on fire, a great wind was blowing, and people were flying out in the distance, probably being thrown from a great axe strike.

He could've taken the mod off, but he wanted to save that for Curtis. With his other arm occupied with carrying Krin, Draiken couldn't very well pull Kaze out to take on Curtis either. He moved along the wall and set Krin down gently, trying to figure out what he was going to do. The battle didn't seem to require him, so it was now mostly between Draiken and Curtis. The Magnum was still charging, and Draiken didn't have much of a choice in attacks against the probably-approaching Curtis. Keep charging or switch weapons? The mutant put down the Magnum and drew out both swords, approaching the stairs enough to a point just outside of Curtis's field of effect, backing up to keep out of range. At the first sign of Curtis in the stairwell, Draiken brought his katanas together for a ZapShot to try and slow his adversary down. Hopefully, everyone else would finish quickly for some support, but Draiken couldn't rely on them at the moment. A mutant had to do what a mutant had to do... HP:49 +Start of Turn: +2 +ZapShot: -2 (out of range) \|--I-------------\| Discharge - ZapShot >Description< While standing on the ground, Draiken moves the kanji on both blades to the tip and touches the kanji together. The result of the two elemental powers is a somewhat weak bolt of lightning that travels in a straight line to a target. The wind carries particles for the lightning to gather in and go to the nearest target in the path that the blades are pointed in. The moment the kanji touch, the electricity charges and releases (discharges) itself quickly for a lightning-speed attack. An electric burst from Rai forced him back into the back wall (Curtis -10 HP), but his seemed to burn even as he was attacked. "You're asking for your death, boy," he shouted over the ruckus, and raised his hand, unleashing a force of energy that hit Draiken square in the chest. Draiken went flying, hitting the ceiling and crashing to the floor (Draiken -14 HP). Kaze and Rai flew out of his hands. Nothing was stopping Curtis from reaching the upstairs. Draiken: 40 HP Krin: 1 (Charging) Curtis: 30 HP

Luckily, this young mutant was still out of Curtis's field of effect, but did he have time to grab his katanas and fire another ZapShot? If Draiken didn't put the Tekt Magnum down by Krin, he would have used that while Curtis was still getting up. Not enough time to think. Draiken grabbed his katanas quickly and jumped back, putting his katanas together for another ZapShot. Unfortunately, he forgot that he had to be on the ground for a ZapShot. Instead, Draiken discharged a Warp that pushed him backwards, the edge of a table slamming into his back. So much for stopping Curtis from reaching the stairs, but at least Kaze and Rai were still in his hands. HP: 49 - 14 = 35 +Start of Turn: +2 +Discharge-Warp: -2 \|--I-------------\| Discharge - Warp >Description< Only usable while in the air, Draiken touches the kanji for a different effect. Without the ground beneath him to hold himself steady and release lightning through the blade tips, the discharge 'warps' Draiken through the air in the opposite direction that a leading blade is pointing at. (Explanation: By pointing his katanas to a side, one blade will point farther out than another. That blade determines the direction. Because the kanji can move at Draiken's will, he can manipulate them to be able to touch even with the distance difference). He breathed in, as he did downstairs when he disabled Draiken's abilities, and a light seemed to slow from below him. That was it, all was lo...Wait, light? There wasn't light before...He was standing on a rune! Rin must've drawn a rune while he was fighting Curtis. As soon as Curtis' red cloud appeared, blue electricity seemed to flow through him as he became racked with pain. He fell to one knee, obviously wounded severely by Rin's rune. "Finish him now, Draiken!" he heard from Rin. Draiken: 35 HP Krin: 1 (Charging) Curtis: 5 HP

He could still hear sounds of battle outside, where the other mutants were risking their lives. It really all came down to him, didn't it? Why would Draiken kill Curtis? A racial support mentality to protect his fellow mutants? An act of justice for all Curtis has already done? To pass judgment on one who has used the police force to cover his own deeds? Forgive me, dad, Draiken thought as his katanas' tips touched, the kanji releasing a bolt of electricity to finish Curtis off. Aiming low to make sure the corrupt police chief couldn't escape, Draiken's next thought was, I hope you die quickly. This mutant did not learn to kill, and he hoped that he would not have to for a long time. All those thoughts had rushed through his mind in just a few seconds, leaving Draiken a bit shaken at what he did, but he detached himself from the situation and turned around so he would not have to see Curtis die. He kept his katanas in his hands in case that it somehow was not over. With his last breaths, he weakly said, "You have no idea the consequences of your actions." He fell to the floor, dead. It was then Draiken noticed an abrupt silence. All of the guys Curtis brought with him were stunned with his death. "The boss is dead! We're done for!" In panic, they all rushed outside and down the street. The four defenders rallied back to Draiken and Krin, the latter unconscious and being hauled on Mal's beefy shoulder. "Draiken, you have our thanks if you didn't Curtis, we'd all be in deep trouble." "You did good, kid. We owe you a lot." "What will you do now?"

It wasn't Curtis's final words as much as it was Draiken's own actions. When he managed to pull himself together a few minutes later, Draiken picked up his katanas steadily. "I think I'll stay and try to stabilize the situation. Even with Curtis gone, there could still be trouble if one of his lackeys becomes the new chief," Draiken replied. As much as he'd like to leave and move on, there was still business to do around here. He needed to see this through to the very end. Maybe it was Curtis's words, but Draiken would have stayed anyway.

"I pilfered this from one of the guys. Seems powerful, you might be able to use it better than the rest of us. We're...not to good with shooting." He produced a Winchester Repeater pistol. "How do I get back to town?" he asked. In the heat of the situation, the mutant lost his general sense of direction, and the destruction to the building and outside wasn't helping much.

There, you can take a taxi to wherever you want to go. As for the pistol, well, you could always pawn it off at a seller. I'm sure the Federation of Independents surely won't refuse another weapon they can get their hands on." Nero appeared from a closet, where the bot came from. "Here, kid, take this too. Krin would want you to have it, and I'll tell her I gave it to you. It's a Mod with money in it, about 1400 cel." "Draiken, should we need you, can we call upon your services?"

He guessed that this was his reward for completing the mission even though it did not quite go the way he expected. Towards Janice's question, Draiken thought it over carefully. Should he provide his service when needed? Did he want to use his abilities this way? Draiken smiled and said, "After this whole adventure, why not? Gives me a reason to come back through town." Suddenly, Curtis's death didn't seem so bad. Draiken did a good deed in ending the police's covert drug operations and made good friends while he was at it. Things will probably conclude for the better.

Curtis' men might've grown spines and could be headed back this way. We'll be turning tail and trying to organize a group effort to defeat the current power holders of Ateeka. You should probably hide for a bit somewhere else so you don't encounter his men." With that, they foursome plus an unconscious Krin fled out the back door, leaving Draiken to go through the front. And, for now, everything was going to be alright. [Mission Complete!] Rewards: 300 EXP 500 cel --- Sir, Curtis is dead. I know. I have felt him enter the other realm. What will you do? Money is of no more use to us. We have what we need. Are the preparations underway? Yes, sir. Good...good...You audience is no longer needed. ... Master...you're resurrection is nearly complete. It is not a resurrection. It is ascension But...you lack coherence, definition. Incorporeal form is not a limit, but rather an opportunity. The Descendants would not have been formed without me. New world order is soon at hand. And with you in the lead, this world will become more than just a place of life. It will become a beacon to the universe.
