Name: Annabel Reeds Age: 27 Sex: Female Race: Mutant Origin: Kumbar Description: Anna is a tall, pale, slender raven-haired woman with a straight posture and proud features. Thin, sharp eyebrows give her dark eyes a serious look. Underneath a smooth, slightly upturned nose are large lips that part to reveal white, straight teeth and a sharp tongue. Her ears are usually hidden by her hair, which she either wears down with braided bangs to hold it back, or she ties it up into a long braid. For clothing she wears a sleeveless brown leather jerkin that extends to mid-thigh. There are slits in the sides of the skirt it forms to give her more mobility. Under the jerkin she wears a creme coloured cloth shirt with short sleeves. Her leggings are the same colour and material as the shirt. The entirety of her feet and calves are covered in large, sturdy leather boots with many straps and laces. On her hands she wears a small pair of fingerless cloth gloves, but other than that her arms are bare. Around her waist is a thin belt of braided leather held together with a simple silver clasp. There is a slot to hold her spear on it, though it isn't very sturdy - she still has to support the weapon with her hand. Biography: Anna grew up in the large city of Kumbar. Her family made its living by transporting goods back and forth to the various Arcs, and was reasonably wealthy. As a young child, Anna would secretly hitch a ride on the transport vehicles just to see the Arcs. Sometimes she got to walk on them, but found it to be a painful and nauseating experience, and stopped going altogether when she was eight. An only child, the intelligent and strong Anna was always independent. Her parents were often busy and had little time for her, so she entertained herself with her mutant ability to create portals, which had developed early. She was usually kept in her house by herself, refused a public education with other children in place of a private one. Her personal mentor and sole companion was an elderly man named Richard. Richard taught her about the world, its history and its inhabitants. When he told her about the lonely Rangers, Anna immediately aspired to become one. From that point on, her education focused on more practical, combat related information. Richard was adept with a stave, and taught Anna how to fight with long shafted weapons. She trained her mutant ability on her own. Her teacher was her first and only friend, a companion she could talk to and loved to spend time with. However, he was old, and just before Anna became old enough to test for her Ranger status, he passed away. Anna was devastated. For her entire life she had made plans with him, plans that, she realized now, would have required him to live to a impossible age. She had become so close to him she had forgotten his age. And now, fate had torn him away. After her period of grief, Anna resolved to never make another friend, to avoid suffering the terrible loss of their inevitable demise. This vow is carved on her weapon. With her new mentality, Anna focused solely on her training and passed her Ranger test easily. She said a cold goodbye to her small family and became an outcast. Honing her skills and venturing often into the Wild Lands, she kept to herself and made no companions. Primary Weapon: A tall metal-shafted spear, made from a light and flexible metal. The handle of the weapon is wrapped in leather for a firm grip. At the butt end of the spear the shaft becomes a stout spike. The long, thin blade on the top end is strong enough to block a blow but thin enough to slip between the gaps in armor. A large part of the metal shaft below the blade has been inscribed with a long oath of solitude that Anna made when Richard died. His name is also written on the blade of the weapon. She calls her spear Sorrow, and it is precious to her as a memory of Richard, for it was his gift. Abilities: *Portal Notes* When something passes through Anna's portals, it is affected by a drastic change in speed and surrounded by strange warp energies. These conditions affect transported object in different ways. Physical objects, such as a metal bullet or a sword, have their speed greatly increased and exit the portal with higher velocity and power. Non-physical things, such as a flame or lightning, will have their power dulled but take on a bit of warp energy, giving them a slim chance to disorient the victim of the attack. When any person, including Anna, goes through a portal, there is a slight chance that they will be disoriented as well. Furthermore, the fluctuations of the portals will sometimes lead their effects awry, and the destination of absorbed objects can be redirected accidentally. (this may be to complicated to incorporate into the combat system, feel free to remove any details you feel will not work. *Portal Notes* One-Way Portal Summoning a portal beneath her own feet, the feet of an ally, or an opponent, Anna teleports them to a different position. Warped Metal Anna thrusts forward with her spear, simultaneously creating a portal in the path of her weapon, and a second one in front of her opponent. Her weapon travels through the first portal and out the second, striking the foe with a melee attack but from a distance. Motion Sickness Anna condenses two portals together in a bolt of warp energy, firing it at her foe. Upon being struck, the enemy is warped back and forth between the two portals at a rapid rate for several seconds. When they land, they will likely be nauseous and dazed. Redirection When an opponent launches an attack at Anna, she can create a set of portals to redirect their attack back to themselves. One portal will absorb the attack, and the other will spit it back out from behind the enemy, hopefully striking them with their own ability. To do this without a bit of preparation takes much focus. Ingenious use of portals. They'll take a lot of energy to use. For Motion Sickness, does it cause damage or is it just *voom**voom**voom**voom**sick*? |

Yeah, I figured they would take a good chunk of energy. As for Motion Sickness damaging, I was thinking before that it could damage anybody nearby in melee radius - as the person flails around they might clip nearby people with a foot or something. Didn't add it at first, but now that I think about it she'll be relying on her weapons a lot to do damage, which I don't mind really. Still, might help if she has a little more damage from her abilities. Edited by Boots, Jan 2 2009, 07:41 PM.

How about we add damage to Motion Sickness, just because they're being yanked from one point in space to another in a very violent fashion. |
