Kahrari (Shemite Variant) By Windman

~ The Coming of the Kahrari

Description: The Kahrari, a small clan of nomads warriors, much like the larger Shemite Zuagir. The Kahrari are Shemites with a large mix of Kothic blood, some Hyrkanian, and an original indigenous Pyrrhenian race. They were once more settled, and based around the village stronghold Kahrar, in the northern foothills of the Pyrrhenian Mountains.

Culture: Kahrar grew prosperous, its economy based on the large herds of livestock, mostly goats with some sheep and cattle, tended by Kahrari shepherds on the mountainsides. An excess of meat and hides were traded for healthy profit, and Kahrar grew stronger. They had long paid some tribute to Aghrapur, but as Turanian tax collectors became more demanding, and Turanian soldiers spent more time in Kahrar, abusing its populace, rebellion finally erupted. The spark that lit the rebellion came when a Turanian captain ordered a shepherd to give his entire herd to a passing regiment. When the shepherd refused he was crucified, and was forced to watch his grandchildren murdered, and his wives and daughters raped by the soldiers. He was found still alive on the tree he was nailed to, and his story united the Kahrari in vengeance, he died shortly after from his wound, never able to gain justice for him or his family, but the Kahrari would give him justice with the blood of their enemy; the Turanians.

After Turanian soldiers were slaughtered and the captain’s head sent East, the Kahrari knew a large Turanian force would be coming. They did not have the manpower to defend Kahrar from the Turanian army so, stoically, they abandoned and razed it. Children, Women and hillmen took to the mountains with the herds, and the warriors fully embraced the nomadic lifestyle, raiding the western Turanian desert and keeping the army too occupied to threaten their people. The nomadic Kahrari raiders grew in numbers, absorbing other nomads, freed slaves from Turan, and others who opposed the empire. While the Zuagir and most Shemite nomads raid purely for profit, the Kahrari are mostly motivated by their hatred for Turan.

When the Turanian Army had captured Kahrari local district, they had the local tribes put to death, including Women, children, and the common folk of the Pyrrhenies. This strengthened Kahrari bloodlust and focused their rage. Honourable warriors Kahrari target the Turanian military more often than settlements and have a somewhat heroic reputation amongst the peoples of empire's western reaches.

Names: A mixture of Shemite, Hyrkanian and Kothic names and of the local Pyrrhenies tribes.

Religion: Earth and Sky, Mountain and the Flowing Stream.
