The Secret of Steel:

Prerequisites: Must be a Elibarite or a Ilbarsi, 5 ranks in Craft (Alchemy), 5 ranks in Craft (Metalsmith).

Through the study of various chemicals and a keen workmanship in metalsmithing, the crafter can commence work combining the materials together to created a high quality steel, more endurable and refined than most normal steel mined throughout the Thurian Continent. This Feat allows them to know the correct chemicals and the correct mixture to make their particular steel.

Note: The process is different between the Elibarites and the Ilbarsi, but the result though different, can create a steel suitable for the two separate feats (see below) with a different results required. Creation of correct chemical is a DC 20 check.

Aurveshan Wooden Shaft:

Prerequisites: Must be an Aurveshan, 6 ranks in Craft (Weaponsmith) or Craft (Bowyer) or Craft (Fletcher)*, 6 rank in Craft (Woodcraft).

*Depends on type of item created.

Aurveshans are famed for their cultivating a stout tree called Izith along their coastal lands, and have created sturdy weaponry for their protectors the Steppes Aurveshans. They now also export it to other ports around the Vilayet.

Weapon Types (wood only; mostly): (Weaponsmith): Club, Javelin, Staff, War Club. (Bowyer): Hunting Bow, Hyrkanian Bow, Ilsig Bow, Shemite Bow. (Fletcher) Hunting Bow Arrows, Hyrkanian Bow Arrows, Ilsig Bow Arrows, Shemite Bow Arrows.

Weapon Types (wood and metal mix): (Weaponsmith): Axe, Battleaxe, Bardiche, Bill, Hatchet, Heavy Mace, Heavy Lance, Hunting Spear, Light Lance, Light Mace, Pike, Poleaxe, War Hammer, War Spear.

* A crafter with skill in many different weaponry crafts, only needs to select this feat once to make the varied components. Example: A Aurveshan crafter with Craft (Bowyer) 6 ranks and Craft (Fletcher) 6 ranks and Craft (Woodcraft) 6 ranks can make both bows and arrows with this feat. Note: To make foreigner's bows, a -4 is taken to craft check. The Aurveshans do not know how to make any type of crossbow or Bossonian Bow as they have never studied the design, nor ever will, the Hyborians have no influence this far east.

Note: Weapons like battle axes and war spears will benefit from this process if they are made of mastercrafted quality (High quality), but the cost is triples (see below). Aurveshans shaft fixed to an Ilbarsi steel spear-point will do no difference, nor that of any Akbitanan weapon-part (if they would even bother), but would if an Elibarite smith fitted a Elibarite's spear-point to the shaft give a better bonus (see below).

Special: Must have a source high quality wood taken from the Izith tree, grown along the coasts of Aurvesh by the Aurveshan Cultivators.

Benefits: +1 attack bonus, +1 AP, 1.25 Hardness, 1.5 the usual hit points. Cost three times as much as the usual weapon. (minimum: 30 Silver coins).

Elibarite Steel component and Aurveshan Wooden Shaft: (Difference: a +2 AP, instead of the normal +1 AP). Prices would be minimum for both, usually 130 sp for any spear, axe, or mace combination. Also must find and convince a Elibarite to make a single component for any of these weapons in first place. Transferring a new Elibarite's axe-blade onto a used Aurveshan wooden shaft (once old blade is removed) is perfectly acceptable.

Note: Normal weapon construction time base on new price.

Note: An Aurveshan wood shafted arrow and an Aurveshan wood constructed hunting bow will give a +2 to hit and and extra +2 AP.

Example: Azzad the Archer had purchased an Aurveshan hunting bow and two quivers of Aurveshan arrows for a total of 40 arrows and for a total price of 90 silver coins. He eventually gets into a border skirmish with a group of Hyrkanian raiders and takes cover behind a clump of rocks. Azzad is a 1st level Borderer and has a Strength of 16 and Dexterity of 14. Normally shooting a hunting bow he would get +3 to his range attack and his hunting bow would have a AP of 4 within it basic range of 50 feet. But now he has +5 to hit and an AP of 6 within a 50 foot range.
