What were peoples favorite Freelancer fighter load-outs for tournaments, normal play, unpractical addiction to particular ships etc?

Sad to say I just can't remember the name of my beloved Scharnhorst's yellow, dog eared Medium fighter from the boarder worlds. Was it the Rogue? Never really powerful enough in the weapon load out for its class to really compete, although the skill of it's pilot was really key (Unfortunately).

Long beams and torps.

Also loved the look of the the Halberd (Red pirate version) but a bit slow for PVP, fun on missions or against NPC nomads.

So name your class, your ship, and your load out if you dare! (And by 'dare' I actually mean 'remember')

Not easy to remember!

My main load out when playing evo and nomads revenge was the Trident Very heavy with 4x Long Beam class 10's and 2x long Beam class 9's. Think I used to mount 2x Sunslayer torps and a hornet launcher, as for the other gear I don't remember that much!

Absolute favourite ship has always been the Titan. Unfortunately it was pretty bad, heavy, huge hitbox, resulting in a bad setup and allover bad play style. Its history began back on vanilla Jolt - as an absolute newbie surrounded by Eagles the sophisticated Titan was merely good at looking good. It was either:
a) learn to play! or
b) go easy mode and fly an Eagle
I picked c), moved to Nima, got ripped apart by Dwork in his CC Spectre with long beams and this is how the favourite setup began.

My favourite, most versatile fighter was from then on the Spectre (though the blue one, which was heavier), at first vanilla fit (anti shield guns, some fat guns looted from a wreck for damage and nomads to save cap), later on with long beams. You had one shot. It felt like sniping <3

My other fighters were special snowflakes for special snowflake occassions, if I remember corrently.
A "banana" Rogue called "/\nnoyance" to fly along with "/)disturbance" - rather rare occurance due to me being really bad with missiles.
An absolutely awefully fit Predator, with, like, 7 long beams and Nomad somethings, a brick to fly, but a gorgeus pitch black brick!
A vanilla fit Sabre almost none knew about for some lone wolf piracy time.
A red something I don't recall the name of as one of Hollow's [1%] roleplay ships.
A Drake for light fighter tournaments - its winglets were adorable!
[Order] Isis - probably the easiest to use fighter out there.

A couple of capital ships, think most in game time spent was hugging that station outside Manhattan in some sort of capital and getting flamed by Discovery for doing so ^^
Kusari gunboat for the pretty looks, especially during explosions caused by a single torpedo. That little yacht was all kinds of broken.
Kusari destroyer, because everybody had one. Also absolutely broken, with oversize guns most players put on it (hi, Hummel :P ), but beautiful otherwise.
Kusari battleship with default loadout, because it was simply a pretty ship... and a bitch to navigate in asteroid fields.
Liberty battleship with default loadout - the only missile boat I could kill stuff with.
Bretonia gunboat, default fit, jack of no trades at all, let alone master at anything.
Rheinland battleship, because every self appreciating pirate had one of these parking outside some frequented trade route. Think mine had a semi default loadout, with main guns that had lolrange of about 12 inch.
Luxury liner as storage boat. A nightmare to fly, would flip over space dust.

Funny how you somewhat start to remember details as you proceed with your response... ^^

For me, I can remember my 2.29 CC Ravenclaw loadout well...

2x Tizona del cids,
2x mk II longbeams
4x PHAELONS - I wasn't a fan of the PYRATICS(?)
2x sunny d launchers. Those novas were costly! Plus I loved the sound of those guns being peeled off your hull. Without you dying.
Molecular shield? Nope. I think I went with the Middle cap one because it would take a dual mk 2 long beam and still maintain a bar of shield. It would recharge at 3/4. I think.

Lib Dreadnaught:

8(?)x cruise/heavy long range liberty missiles
4 well placed Rhineland anti fighters

I even had a killer wraith too. Such a fast and agile beam platform.

Then there was the moth.

I loved my harassing mk 1 beam moth.

Tough question!

Well time changed allot...

During my Jolt.co.uk time I mostly used the Eagle equipped with 2x Nomad Cannon, 2x Nomad Blaster, 1 Del Cid, 1 Cannonball Missile.
Me and a friend were on guerilla warfare on [OWL]. Really funny time since it was the first server I started after completing the single Player. This setup was okay to do missions and worked very well when outnumbered in PVP.

Arrived on Nima, the trident equiped with 4 Phealon, later 4 Pyracitic (hard to get that time) and 2 Debilator + Sunslayer was my workhorse. Swapped later to Spectre (black) with same setup.

Went back to Eagle (clipped off tail fins) to use 2x class 9 beams. Played around with several class 10 guns but mostly sticked to Pyracitic in the end because of dps. Pheals were nice yet.

2.27? patch the Wraith agility was raised. My most raving setup was 2x class 9 beams, 1x Automag class 10, Paralyzer Missile, Lancer class 7 and catapult missile.
A new clan had to deal with me, 7 kills in a row, easy as pie.

The Hydra (Xeno fighter) was my ship for very long time, fragile but very fast. Used 1x long beam class 10, 2x class 9, 2x Phaelon/2 Pyracitic, 1x class 10 Automag, 1x Novaslayer.
One of the last events was in Colorado, Xenos vs. ehh ... liberty ?
The Xenos used shield killers and stacked up full missiles and torps. "incomming missile" all the time ^^ Wasted some credits in confined space.

NRII 2,29.1 Rebalancing Patch changed that much but sadly for a little while.

To stop the extreme long beaming in the end, the hitpoints of the guns were lowered (a full volley of missiles and you are naked) Also the energy consumption was increased.

Most of the old and new codenames had a much higher DPS to promote dogfights. Mines were very usefull to stop people flying in circles and so on. Balancing would take of course many weeks and month but it was funny to see how people adapt the new changes.

The supreme heavy fighters in 2.30 ? were quite fun. the Titan had 20k armor when I remember correctly and 6 class 10 guns ? Used just guns and skipped everything else instead of torps.
There was also a tournament Titans vs. Condors ^^
Really loved the idea of promoting the extreme heavy fighters by more armor and very powerfull guns. Old style fighting with new guns and equipment, could have been a great mod sine Vanilla, too bad it ended all.

Thats it for fighters :)

God its been so long i Just cant remember exactly! but i do remember how much i loved my red hussein's Halberd, that was one bad-ass ship slow like a bus but awesome firepower with the forward facing turret and large engine, i think i exclusively used krackens possibly with one nomad blaster for energy saving.

on vanila servers i went with the sabre

I did also use some of the optimal loadouts like trident with longbeams but found i had more fun using slightly more unused ships and setups even if it put me at a slight disadvantage in combat.

Me and my best mate Khan/obrian still reminisce about freelancer often, i miss me old clan, gentle , migrond and all the boys n gals of the OPG, Miss flying into new berlin and causing trouble..or having practice pvps in ormicron gamma.

For me personally freelancer bar none is my best gaming memories, nima was the best community..I have massive high hopes for star citizen to relive some of these days and I hope it will live up to expectations. Me and khan are both console gamers now but have both agreed if star citizen is anything like freelancer was that we would both build gaming rigs.

I'm a sentimental old fart sometimes but with freelancer its hard not to be.

I loved the dogeared Rogue, even though it was a little underpowered. I know I had Longbeams as the center piece on on it in NR but can't actually recall much else.

A lot of time was spend towards the end on Captain Slapdash's Kusari Gunboat. Good times sniping :D
