Log Poses and the Grand Line Getting to the Grand Line For those characters wishing to go to the Grand Line from the Blues or start there, there are two different ways to do this.
In order to navigate the Grand Line a crew is going to need a few things first. A Ni rank ship at minimum is required, due the the unpredictable and dangerous nature of the ocean in the area. In order to enter the Grand Line from the blues, you must also enter through specific entrances. Marines and Civilians may enter through a shipping checkpoint in Mariejois, while pirates and other outlaws with bounties on their heads must instead brave the Reverse Mountain. But those are just the requirements to enter the Grand Line; once you're in it gets a lot harder to get around. Most ships will need a skilled navigator, or at least a rudimentary one to begin with. Furthermore, in order to navigate and travel the Grand Line, you need a Log Pose. A Log Pose is a specialized compass that maps itself out to the strange magnetic currents that run through the Grand Line and takes you to the next island in your journey. A normal compass simply will not suffice, as every island has its own magnetic polarization, and even the sea in some places does, so a direction on your compass pointing East may be taking you South, or even North-West. Now, a Log Pose takes time to match itself to each island, you can't simply head to an island, wait a minute and then head on. No, here below you will find the amount of time you must wait on an island before your log pose will reset, and therefore how long you must wait before you can progress your journey. Obtaining a Log Pose In order to obtain a Log Pose you must first purchase one. "Ah, a piece of cake!" I hear your cry, but you're wrong. Log Poses must be purchased in character for a 5,000,000 sum, and they can only be obtained from the following Four Islands:-Loguetown (East Blue) -United States of Teriyaki (North Blue) -Karaoke Island (West Blue) -Saint Reia (South Blue) The money must then of course be taken out of your characters profile in a modification topic, and you then have a Log Pose with which to traverse the Grand Line! You can also buy them from any island in the Grand Line, but they cost 10,000,000 there.Navigating the Grand Line: Log Poses The Log Pose cannot be moved to another person after each post to reduce the time taken; the starter of a thread has to make the required number before the crew can progress. However it does not have to be all in one sitting, and several threads can be made on an island, all of which will count to reduce the Log Poses count each time. But only one person in a crew can hold a Log Pose, so splitting a crew between topics wont work either... To reach Shaboady Archipelago you must complete at least 7 topics and travel to minimum of seven islands. You must then complete at least one topic on Shaboady Archipelago and get your ship coated before reaching the New World. On your way through the Grand Line you can travel to whichever islands you choose as long as you make at least one topic in the Grand Line Out at Sea forum. The posts in Out at Sea also count to your overall post count for the Grand Line. Log Pose - a compass-like navigational device; a necessity for traveling the Grand Line. It is a wrist watch with a glass orb sitting on top, and a needle floating inside the middle of that orb suspended from the top by a thin piece of metal or wire. Normal compasses don't work in the Grand Line due to the special magnetic waves created from each island. The Log Pose functions by recording the magnetic wave of an island in the Grand Line, and points to the next island for the user to travel to. How long it would take to lock onto the magnetic waves varies from island to island. Once on an island for the required amount of time, the recording of the magnetic wave resets to accommodate the new island. Apparently, the standard Log Pose doesn't work in the New World. Price: 5,000,000
