The Outside
Physical Description:
When it comes to the physical side of things, Mael is a surprisingly huge animal that stands over most of the tallest living beings even while on all four. Sporting a grey coat of fur over the entirety of its body, the wolf possesses a pointy muzzle followed by sharp fangs, pointy ears and ice-blue eyes that seem to pierce its surroundings with surprising intelligence.
Though its fur is indeed mainly grey in color, his paws are as white as snow. Such a strange phenomenon for canines is often seen on felines, and it is not a trait that Mael truly enjoys possessing as he has often noticed Humans comparing such a thing to most household cats, of which he personally despises.
Clothing:
Due to being an animal, Mael really does not enjoy wearing any sort of clothing as he heavily believes that the most of them are not only a waste of tissue, but also things that dampen movement and renders it harder than it truly should be. He also considers his own size to be quite a problem, as most clothing won't fit on him, let alone be comfortable.
As such, it is thus not much of a surprise that he most often does not wear anything and instead fights "naked". Given that he is a wolf, most Marine soldiers do not mind his nudity, though some do agree that his intelligence leaves many of them judging Mael as something closer to an intelligent living being - and thus worthy of being accepted into society - and not as an animal, which harbours complaints from soldiers who believe he should be wearing clothes for the sake of his own intelligence.
To silence complaints, Mael, however, is often seen wearing the typical Marine officer coat when travelling on official and important business. It is only during those calm and more pleasant moments that the wolf less despises clothing.
Accessories:
On his back can be seen a sheath of dark brown leather that was carefully tailored for the Donnerschlag. It is usually seen attached to the wolf's body with buckles and leather. Never has anybody seen him without carrying this sheath around, though, given the importance he gives to the blade, it should not come up as surprising revelation.
Extra: The wolf possesses many scars on his body that seemed to have been created by wild animals or more intelligent opponents in the past. Though they are all mostly hidden by his fur, only but petting the animal can reveal the mark of gun wounds and claw marks all over his body. It is as if the wolf went through many a trial with much, much pain to attain his current state as a Marine officer.

The Inside
Personality
If we go with the judgment of the masses when it comes to animals and their behaviours, Mael was once what could be commonly considered to be a "normal" wolf when it comes to his personality and actions. Though docile, he was a beast that yearned, like most of the entire bestiary of the world, for two main things: food and water. It had no real intelligence comparable to a living being such as a modern Human or Fishmen per say, but it was bright enough to be comparable to a "dog", as in a domesticated animal that was able to correctly differentiate the right from wrong without being trained by any sort of master.
Once he attained the Donnerschlag, however, from a dying Lord Faraday, Mael became much, much brighter than his form could naturally permit him to be. He became more judgmental of the other animals that lived alongside him that were frightened by his intelligence, now thinking of him as some sort of alien similar to how they see Humans and other intelligent living beings, as he was baffled by their lack of intelligence. Eventually, this led to him to judge himself not as a beast, but as an intelligent living being that could not live any longer within the savage lands of nature, and thus, at that moment, he decided to strive to become a member of society.
Nowadays, as a Marine officer, he acts as a respectful, polite and downright noble-like individual in front of his superiors, though is not afraid to state his own mindset and oppositions on things that he morally or strategically disagrees with. Despite his high rank, it is not rare to sometimes see the wolf simply ignoring the orders it has been given to him by Admirals or the World Government, especially when it includes the life of innocent civilians that have no affairs on a battlefield.
Still to this day, however, Mael has a profound respect for the blade and how it has allowed him to become more than just one of nature's savage beasts. As such, he never wishes to separate it away from his grasp, always wishing it to be close to him at all costs, whatever the time and whatever the situation.
History
The Wolf Who Defies Time
Mael was born on the tree-covered lands of Wild Island from two normal wolves. As a cub, the young animal enjoyed a rather peaceful life following his parents around like the child he was, unbeknownst of the dangers of the world and uncaring of it all. At the time, it might even be appropriate to say that none of his early days were very unremarkable as he, like all normal wolf children, simply learned how to live properly as an animal that was able to survive on its own, without the need of his parents' help.
Thanks to the island's mystical powers, he was able to live without any trouble for three years, able to fully develop into an adult wolf. His parents, dead of natural causes, simply left him to live on his own, and thus he did, simply going off into the wild and making sure that he wouldn't die off too easily by the hands of nature. Even on Wild Island, where the forest protects all, cruelty is still a common place for animals, as survival among the fittest is still quite a respected rule amongst them.
One day, however, as he wandered around the woods, trying to find a proper prey to bury his fangs into, his path was suddenly cut by a tall one who wore shiny pieces of metal and red on his body. Blood spilled out from injuries all over his body, leaving the ground below reddened and wounded as he breathed for life and oxygen. He was holding a shiny branch of bloodied metal in his left hand. Taken aback by the sight, Mael started growling, alert, unsure if this thing was friend or foe. The sound caught the thing's attention as it turned its head towards the wolf, unable to speak, only able to breath, but it paid no mind to the animal, still continuing on his aimless path. Driven by curiosity, this led Mael to simply stare at the tall one with confusion, frowning, and, eventually, he decided to follow the bloody path underneath that it left underneath its feet.
This led the wolf to a tree where the tall one had fallen, still breathing and holding onto his sword as much as it possibly could. Random animals had started to surround the man, both prey and predator alike. Given the situation, Mael was too confused as to what was happening to properly latch onto the nearest deer, and so simply stared at the scene. The scene lasted for a moment, until, then, the tall one decided to take off the piece of metal that covered its head and simply allowed it to fall on the ground, staring at the animals around him with eyes that were about to welcome Death itself.
He had understood the strange feeling of peace that was slowly being brought onto him, washing his fears away like a calm breeze. The forest could not take care of him properly, he who was too close to Death, but it could bring him the proper peace he always wished and longed for. The man remained motionless for a moment, too surprised by whatever was happening, but, eventually, he simply smiled... and then, the breathing stopped.
The animals remained there, motionless too, unsure of what to do now that the scene was over. However, it was no surprise that, after a minute or two, they all started leaving one by one without bloodshed, somehow aware that this was somehow inappropriate. Eventually, the only one that remained was Mael, the curious one. He remained there, still curious by the metallic tree branch the man's dead body still held onto, and, soon, he decided to step forward and inspect it closer.
He first tried to sniff it. It smelled like blood and metal, just like it had expected, but there was something... different, something the wolf couldn't explain properly even to today. He then decided to bite the piece of metal that wasn't sharp... and it was at that moment that, suddenly, he felt a jolt of electricity flow throughout the entirety of his body.
And then, the mist that clouded his mind simply disappeared as his eyes blinked with intelligence and his throat let out a sound unknown to the world of beast and agony that was this island. It was a scream, a scream of pain from the electricity he felt at that moment jolting through his body. He had let go of the sword at the time, his body fuming on the ground as he spat blood, feeling his whole body shifting and modifying itself from the inside.
But then, he stood back up on his four feet and stared at the sword with fear, and it was then that he proclaimed his first words:
"What happened to me?"
Eventually, he came to understand that the blade had allowed him to become its new wielder, and that the Human (for he now understood what their species were) who lied by the tree was a man known as Lord Faraday, leader of the Order, knight of redemption and peace, guardian of the light and un-maker of the dark. None of these words of which appeared in Mael's mind at the time meant anything to him, as, confused by all of these revelations, he remained shocked and immobile for quite some time. Eventually, he decided to move, bringing the sword with him.
As he continued to live on the island for some time, given that it was his home, his newfound intelligence started to grow ill of the savagery of the place. He couldn't understand how pitifully unintelligent most of the animals around him were and he couldn't understand why their way of living seemed so off and unsatisfying. After some more time, Mael then understood that he was the problem, and so, disappointed by the life he was living before this moment, he decided to leave Wild Island by using Lord Faraday's vessel, of which still rested at one of the beaches of the island.
The wolf wandered around the seas for some time, his mind expanding and his body growing stronger and stronger by the day. In a way, during that time, he was incredibly afraid of the sword and wanted it to disappear, but even as he tried to throw it away into the waters of the East Blue seas, it was as if his mind always beckoned him to not do so, like it was his last chance to prove himself a greater living being. So, he continued to travel... until, finally, he met a Marine vessel which was under attack from a group of Pirates that were about to execute them all.
Wanting to help, the wolf immediately jumped onto the ship with his newfound strength and eliminated the Pirates with ease, the sword's hilt in his maw, held by his teeth alone. The Marine soldiers were astonished by his skill, but what they could not believe was his manners and speech. He was immediately brought to a Marine base where an officer then held a conversation with him. The soldier wanted him to be a part of the Marines and that, in return, the wolf would get food and water that he was now starting to lack on Lord Faraday's ship. Mael accepted.
Nowadays, Mael is now an accepted Vice-Admiral amongst the Marines. Strong and wielding a powerful weapon, never before has the Marines seen such a strange soldier amongst their ranks... but, in all honesty, in times of such chaos, the Marines need anything they can get... even a talking giant wolf that can wield a sword.
Weaponry & Equipment
Weapon Name: Donnerschlag
Weapon Class: Saishuuheiki [Ultimate Weapon]
Description:
The Donnerschlag is a legendary weapon that has been only given upon to the most worthy of a secret group of knight-like warriors referred to by the World Government as "The Order". Throughout history, each member of the Order that wielded the blade was a high-ranking member within the group to the point of being considered as their leader, and all of them were as strong as most mythical warriors that are still only told in children stories today. However, it is mentioned in books and legends that the sword is the one true being who decides its master and not the Order itself.
The last person that was deemed to wield the blade within the Order was a man only known as Lord Faraday, his true name now lost forever. He died on Wild Island while the wounds that he had acquired from a fight against an unknown Pirate that wandered around the East Blue sea were being treated. It was at this moment that the sword decided to choose Mael as its previous master's successor.
In terms of appearance, the sword looks rather plain, much harbouring the same physical aspects of a normal long sword. Nevertheless, its design is rather magical, to say the least. Possessing an overall black and dark blue design, the sword is incredibly large and couldn't possibly be used by a normal living being safe from some Giants, though they might find it too small for their own bodies. On it lies many curious designs that seem to stem from the old ages of the world, antique and mysterious, comparable to ancient royalty. On the hilt can be noticed the marks of Mael's sharp fangs, of which bite onto it every single day either during training or actual combat.
As mythical as the sword's appearance might be, however, its true strength lies within the powers that it bestows upon its wielder. While using this weapon, Mael is able to increase to seemingly use the sword as some sort of ranged energy weapon, as he can send waves of energy towards enemies without using any Techniques. Additionally, he can increase the size of his sword from 15 meters to a monstrous 30 meters with energy bursting from the tip of his sword. This energy is yet unexplained by science, seeming to be created by the sword itself with the wielder's pure will and mastery.
However, the sword's powers are mainly relying on time to properly project its effects on its user. The more the wielder uses the weapon, the more intelligent and stronger it becomes. The wielder is also somehow able to break through the limits of time itself, almost unable to age, explaining the reasoning behind the previous wielder of the sword's ages and legacy. Coincidentally, the sword also gave the wolf the ability to speak, which hints to the sword having perhaps been once used by other animals other than Mael himself.
Should any one not worthy of the sword's use ever try to wield it, the sword will suddenly become extremely heavy, thus rendering them absolutely unable to use it.
