The drink burned going down, but once it settled it gave the impression that her whole body was finally warm enough to fight off the biting cold that seemed to dig into her very bones. Louisa knew that the drink wasn’t actually making her warm, but it did make for one great excuse to indulge. She slammed the mug down on the table and let out a long satisfied sigh as she raised it to indicate she wanted another. Around her were a small group of huddled individuals all seeking refuge from the cold. The fact that all these people were in a wooden building in Athenaroo marked them as outsiders to the village, whose occupants largely resided in homes cut from ice. Each had come for their own reasons and many of them were strangers to one another, but the unfriendly environment and small numbers of outsiders in the town made it easy to bond over whatever common ground could be found. Today that common ground was hard drink. Most took advantage of that fact by sitting near the center, closer together, while others still remained to themselves along the outskirts. Louisa’s attention though was all for the boys nearest her.

“Now that is a powerful drink, Ba-By! I can tell how beautiful it is just by how strong it hits on the way down.” Louisa roared her pleasure over her beverage of choice even as she wrapped a huge arm around a nervous looking man sitting next to him. To his credit he did his best to smile and seem friendly, he just couldn’t completely hide the fact that Louisa’s disregard for his personal space had him a little thrown off by the… lady. To be fair though it wasn’t as if he had chosen to sit next to her. No, when Louisa had shown up she had surveyed the room and sat next to the first man who caught his fancy. It was slim pickings in a small town like this and unfortunately for the stranger he had drawn the short straw as it were.

Another man, far more comfortable with the arrangement given his distance at another table, spoke up, “Yes, if it weren’t for the drink to warm me up I wouldn’t be able to stand visiting Olympanurus. The locals won’t have much to do with visitors so trade gets meager and Athenaroo is still too small to be considered much a town anyway.” This was often a common remark by anyone who visited the island and the rest of the people in this tiny makeshift tavern seemed to nod in ascent as their companion grumbled. Oh, everyone had legitimate enough reasons for coming to the island, but those reasons didn’t keep them from complaining about their circumstances all the same.

Louisa grinned almost predatorily at them all as she drained another mug and spoke, “Awe, but harsh conditions breed strong men! Strong men are the epitome of beauty. Still, if you get too cold you are all welcome to snuggle with momma, Ba-By!” All the men around her managed to laugh at her joke, awkwardly, but laugh all the same. If they only knew that she was only half kidding in her jest. Finally, after a long moment of silence the man next to her spoke up. “So… What brings you to the island? You don’t look like a merchant. You one of those folk who try to climb the mountain?” The man conveniently left out the word crazy when referring to said folk though it was heavily implied in his tone. After all, most people who tried to challenge Mt. Olympanurus ended up frozen long before they ever reached any summit. Whatever judgment he clearly revealed on the subject though was lost on Lousia, she actually blushed at his statement and managed a frighteningly coy smile in response. “Aaah, Momma has been caught it seems. Yes I want to go to the mountains, Momma wants a pet yeti. They just sound so cute with their white fur, razor sharp teeth, and powerful claws. I’ve already decided I am going to name mine Yu-ri-chan!” She said the yeti’s name by breaking after every syllable and even giggled in her deep masculine voice when she finished. In response the men around her just continued their awkward laughter, not wanting to upset the powerful woman in their midst. Some were probably inwardly debating which would be scarier to face, the yeti or Louisa’s affections.

"Trust me you wouldn't want a yeti for a pet. They are strong, yes, but they are also mindless beasts who would tear you up at a moment's notice. Trust me, I should know, since I'm a goddess that lives on that mountain."

Hariti was right behind Louisa as she said this, but unlike the woman or any of the other people in the area, she was standing on the ceiling of the building, having watched the conversation like a mother would watch her children. Leaping down from the ceiling, Hariti landed on her hands, before flipping around and landing back onto her feet, bowing down as she finished introducing herself to the woman, who Hariti was now sure was not from this island.

"My name's Hariti, and as I said, I am a goddess of this island who helps take care of the people on this island. I won't help you get a yeti, but at the least I will help you climb the mountain to the top. After all, I haven't been there in my entire existence, and I practically live halfway up the mountain." Saying those words, Hariti tried taking a good look at the woman to see how strong she would be in combat, but she was unsure if she was going to be strong enough for the entire climb.

Walking to the front door, Hariti opened it slightly before turning back around towards Louisa. "You seem to be a nice person, so let's start this right now. I mean, it gets really cold during the night, to the point where even myself, a goddess, can get a bit chilly. I suggest packing some warm clothes and food supplies as well." Finishing her talk, Hariti exited the building, waiting a bit for Louisa to exit the building before leaving for the mountain.
