"ADVANCED BATTLE SIMULATION NUMBER FIFTY-ONE COMPLETE. ALL TARGETS ELIMINATED. AMMUNITION USED: NONE. PERFORMANCE: ["Failure. Work is still needed."]. RESTART SIMULATION?"

Velvet stood still in the vast white emptiness of the desolated area generated by her simulation program within her mind, gazing at the floating result screen that had appeared before her at the end of yet another simulation that had been completed. She was silent, her virtual eyes marked with a deep frown of frustration at what she went through yet again.

It was not hard to guess why she was so frustrated. Once again, she had tried to train her mind against more sentient-like targets today, as one would have probably guessed from the unnatural voice that resonated once the simulation had ended, and once again, she had not achieved optimal results. In fact, the results had worsened compared to the first times she had ran the simulation.

The same thing happens every single time she tries to run the simulation: she starts the simulation, fights a randomly-generated number of hostile targets and then forcefully ends the simulation once she believed to have killed enough of them. It's as if the more she goes, the more she starts believing the generated targets to be real people with real emotions and true Humanity. And the more she went, the more her hand could not force itself to kill yet another one of them. It's maybe the screams, maybe the blood, maybe the pain in their fake eyes... but she simply could not bear it.

Taking a deep breath within her virtual world, the Automata continued to stare at the screen until, finally, she looked away in disappointment before closing the program entirely and focusing all of her tasks on the running of her main database's virtual interface, which coincidentally brought her "back to the real world", as one would say. And so, her vision reset and opened on a robotic limb that lied on her work table in her quarters. She knew what that limb was: it was the one she had meant to eventually prepare for James Burk to replace his missing arm. The limb had been re-purposed ever since for another project she had been preparing. It would seem her multi-tasking self had been working on said project while she was focusing on her simulations. At least, there was something that was done while she was gone.

She stood from the chair she was previously sitting on near the work table and headed out of her quarters. Her eyes had now returned to their usual stoic selves, void of the previous frustration that afflicted them as they gazed upon the White Sea. It had now been some time since her and her squadron had reached the Sky Islands thanks to a route the Marines had told her to precisely follow. Seeing this sea of cloud was enough to bring a sense of slight wonder to Velvet and chase away the bad feelings that remained within her heart.

After wandering for a while, they ended up on this island known as Weatheria, a place where they studied the science of weather. It was interesting, but it wasn't the kind of science in which quite interested Velvet. At least for now, that is. Yet, she admired them just as any man and woman and science tend to usually admire their brethren for sharing the same kind of curiosity that fuels their need for knowledge.

She walked down towards the deck of her ship and declared her leave to the men that presently stood on her ship to guard the place, then landed on the docks. In the matter of a split-second, her appearance completely changed from her usual self in her usual Marine garbs to a blonde woman with sharp blue eyes wearing a red blouse and dark red trousers that distinctly looked like a far cry from your typical Navy uniform. And so, once she was done preparing her Wildcard, Velvet calmly started walking down the streets of Cyenia, her sword still hanging from her left hip.

Maybe she'll be able to clear her mind again, away from the disappointing results of the simulation. Just maybe. Just. Maybe.

Hoping around the fluffy cloud ground of yet another sky island. The solid white bunny was pretty confused how he kept ending up in these places. Didn’t he just dig away from one of these places and fall back down to the blue sea below? Then… how in the world did he end up back at a place so high up in the air again!? Did he fall and this sky island pass underneath the last one he was on and basically just act like a catcher’s mitt or something stupid like that? No… he could tell that wasn’t it because then he’d be able to look up and see that other Sky island from here.

Letting out a sigh, Sugarfoot hopped along chewing on his carrot ever slow slowly. These places were always so trippy. He felt like his fluffy little feet were just going to fall through at any moment and he’d plummet down into the ocean where he’d have to make an Olympic style dive to impress this damned planet once more.

The longer her roamed around, the more he got to see. This island was full of a bunch of nerds… nerds who were trying to make more clouds? Or figure out how clouds worked? He didn’t listen to the full lecture as he peeked in through the window, but all he knew was that the people talking about all this stuff where just nerds. Nothing more and nothing less… maybe this place was up in the air because they were running from people down below who’d pick on them for wanting to work with weather so much.

However, before long as he hopped along, there was someone who gave off a weird vibe for him. His ears twitched greatly as his gazed turned to meet this person who stood with a sword on her hip. “Hey! Lady! You with da sword!” The rabbit called out as he stood off to the side of the street, he didn’t like walking on streets, people tended to kick small rodents.

“Yeah, the talkin’ bunny down here.” He said making sure she knew who was talking to him.

As she walked down the streets of the scientific city, Velvet, in her shapeshifted form, allowed her eyes to wander left and right as she took a good look at what the city seemed to offer. She never really had the chance to properly do so when they came here due to properly managing her soldiers and trying to focus on her simulations, but now she could see that this place was just as she expected: more so a place of knowledge than your typical town.

Everywhere she went, it seemed as though there was at least one or two libraries at every corner placed right in front of a store or some sort of school. From time to time, she would also seem to stumble upon specific institutions that were made to benefit one particular sub-community of the island such as the Brotherhood of the Clouds, the Fraternity of the Rain and other funny nicknames here and there. Though definitely nerdy, Velvet could not help but find it all quite charming.

Yet, there was this odd sensation at the back of her mind. Though she was apart of what seemed to clearly be a scientific community, it felt as though she did not belong to this place. Yes, she looked like a civilian now, but even if she would have used her normal appearance, she doubted that she would have belonged any further with the people from around here. Everyone in this place seemed to only gather knowledge through books that they seemed to be always constantly reading. There were some she passed by that held dozens of books in their hands, and others were carrying them in comically-oversized bags that weighted on their backs. The more she saw these people, the more she started feeling a bit... awkward, like this somehow did not make sense to her.

Eventually, she simply realized that all of these people still needed to rely on their normal brain to learn. Once she did, it all became clear, yet also quite depressing. If she wanted, she could simply visit all of the island and shove all of the knowledge contained in the books into her ever-expanding database and thus always forever remember their contents, but these people will eventually forget all about it. And once they die, that knowledge will then truly be forever lost to them.

Once that fact and its explanations became clear, she could not help but now feel totally isolated from this community. Every time she saw a scholar now, she could not help but feel pity... but then, all of a sudden, her eyes fell on a white rabbit that started calling towards her, almost as if it was trying to catch her attention. Instantly, her loneliness was then trumped by an abrupt sense of confusion.

The rabbit was small and looked generally unimpressive, yet it seemed to be sentient enough to be able to talk. At first, she simply looked over the bunny in her typical uninterested way, but then, suddenly, she froze and her eyes widened with shock. She continued staring at the bunny in complete silence, watching as it approached her for communication.

The rabbit... Velvet's Observation Haki was literally screaming at her to stay away from it. Though it looked fairly normal on hindsight, his... aura... seemed to be completely off the charts. It was as if she was staring at the Grim Reaper himself. It made the rabbit's small size feel completely irrelevant and futile.

Though the rabbit called to her, the Automata hesitated quite understandably. However, soon enough, her fair judgment made her walk forward towards the rodent, quite unsure if it would be wise to disobey something that seemed so oddly powerful in a place filled with individuals that are typically weaker than normal physical standards. Once she neared the rabbit, she stared at the animal with cautioned blue eyes as she replied, careful about what this thing could possibly do to her and the people around the both of them:

"Yes? What do you want, Mr. Bunny?"

She tried, for a moment, to act her way out of this. There was a possibility that the bunny knew who she was and was probably some kind of dangerous Pirate. It was perhaps too late to do that now that she had approached him with so much obvious caution, but, to be fair, her acting wasn't all that bad. It is not hard to appear as a different person whenever you're a computer only using a specific personality template that has been saved a long time ago to respect some specific situation.

The rabbit waited staring that the automata woman, he didn’t know she was an automata, but he could definitely smell that she wasn’t a human or a fishman that was for sure. Probably some sort of fruit user, that was probably the reason she had such a smell about her too, all these people seemed to have weird powers because of fruit they ate. No one was just a ridiculously strong rabbit for the sake of being strong just to please the masses. Either way that didn’t seem to matter all too much as it seemed that the woman was going to at first try to just ignore him it felt like.

Scratching behind his ear a few times, he listened to her speak up calling him Mr. Bunny after asking what he wanted. It felt like his soul was going to explode in a frenzy of hate and rage, but he took a small breath from his twitching nose before he looked at the woman again.

“Mr. Bunny isn’t my name. It’s Sugarfoot. I want you, to play a game with me. Since it seems you ain’t one of the nerds on this island, I figured it’d be one on one.” The bunny said with a smirk on his face. “I’ll even give you a special prize if you are able to catch me. Its like tag, but you gotta full on catch me.” The white rabbit explained as he finished eating his carrot in a couple of bites before slamming it stalk into the ground cause it to start to regrow.

“Just don’t try anything stupid and attack me. I’d hate to have to retaliate.” The rabbit commented with a malicious grin on his face.

Velvet still had absolutely no idea what was going on and still could not truly figure out how she was literally conversing with a bunny that seems so powerful. Even as she stood there trying her best to remain calm and try to act herself away from such a situation, her systems scrambled as she tried to search for explanations within her database. From the knowledge she currently possesses about the animals her eyes witnessed, there were absolutely no memories including a talking bunny with such a dominant aura. Well... apart from that other bunny from that other event thread, that is, but that one doesn't count.

Besides, that other bunny never really showed any anger unlike what she was currently witnessing. It seems that calling the rodent "Mr. Bunny" was not the best idea she ever had. In an instant, her Observation Haki spiked up as it notified her of its anger and she could not help but slightly tense up even more. It's never a good idea to piss off somebody that's clearly stronger than you, whether consciously or unconsciously.

Fortunately for her, the bunny did not lash out on her too badly, instead merely correcting as it presented itself appropriately, for it apparently has a name: Sugarfoot. It seemed that he was interested about her appearance on the island the moment he saw her, mostly due to the fact that she was not like most of the other people on the island, which mainly consisted of what it referred to as "nerds", and as such, it wants to play a game with him. The "game" is simple: she has to catch the bunny. If she catches him, she will even get a special reward.

Though she should have perhaps been a little more curious about how that thing's carrot even functioned, this whole "game" thing made Velvet's mind go numb for a moment. A... A game of tag where she has to catch that thing? That's all it wants? But that makes absolutely no sense! There's nothing logical about any of this! Why would a random bunny that can somehow talk and also possess such amazing strength ask her to do something so simple?! And what kind of reward is it even talking about?!

Unsurprisingly, this made her completely deactivate her personality template. There was no way around it: even if this thing didn't know who she was, there was probably more details behind that game of "tag" that meets the eye, and thus, she's probably going to need her main functions. Her appearance shall remain as it is now, but there's no point in keeping an innocent-seeming personality if things are about to get serious, especially given the fact that it downright threatened her. As her template was deactivated, her eyes became as sharp-looking as her usual ones, and soon, they changed from their previous blue to their usual bright beaming red. Well, at least, she was now taking this more seriously.

"I don't know what you are... but I'm sure that you're not going to let me walk away if I refuse to participate in your game of tag anyways. I also believe that you already know that I have no reason to attack you as of yet. However, should you harm any of the "nerds" around here, that's going to be an entirely different story. Are we clear?"

She asked, trying to remain at least on equal grounds with this thing. Though she did not like being in front of such a dominant opponent, that does not mean that she is going to give up on her morals. If the thing intentionally harms anyone around here, then things might get ugly. Hopefully, that's not going to happen and instead they will simply proceed with whatever this bunny has in its mind.

Sugarfoot stood waiting for this oddity that was in front of him. She didn’t seem like a human in any way, didn’t smell like one either. That didn’t matter too much to him but at the same time he didn’t like these sky islands all too much. They made his carrots grow back with this weird… marshmallowy taste. Maybe it was planting them in the cloud dirt that they walked upon or something, either way he didn’t like it one bit.

When she spoke up she mentioned not knowing what Sugarfoot was which was a little offensive. Could she not see that he was a fluffykin? However it seemed that she was wise enough to catch on to the situation at hand. Smiling happily, as he tapped the stalk of his carrot a few times with his paws checking on the growth of his carrot, nope it wasn’t fully grown yet.

However when this woman more or less threatened Sugarfoot, the small rabbit’s gaze went from calm and happy to intense. It probably felt like the entire island was getting dragged down from the sky every so slowly as Sugarfoot glared at Velvet as he stood in place quietly. However the glaring broke and the tension around the island let off rather quickly. “I didn’t plan to, even if this place is super boring for my tastes” The rabbit commented with a smile on his face.

“Ok, ready go!” Sugarfoot said without giving Velvet any time to register what he said as he darted towards the weather institutions. If he had buildings to run around it’d make him harder to catch right? Plus this person couldn’t have been too fast, right? That was what he thought as he began to sprint at a very rapid speed zigzagging as he did so.

Hmm...
At first, when Velvet finished telling the bunny about her warning and what would happen if it ever decides to attack the civilian population of the island, she had thought that the creature would have taken it rather understandably. Though she did not tell it that she was a Marine and that it is her duty to defend these people, really, anybody would have understood from those words that she is the kind of person that wouldn't want to see people hurt for no real reason.

But then... the glaring followed suit. She did not expect it. At first, there was nothing as the bunny kept showing off its joyous and rather arrogant nature... and then, suddenly, it seemed as though the entirety of the area was crushed under an intense level of supernatural tension. With eyes widened, Velvet stared at the bunny's glare with fear as she unconsciously took a step back. She could not move, could not stop staring at the thing that seemed as though it was about to kill her off like nothing.

She was going to die here from the wrath of a talking rabbit.

And then, suddenly, it all stopped. Velvet was still frozen once it did. A cold sweat had covered her body, a symptom of the helplessness she felt then. It took her a moment to realize that she had gone blank and, slowly, she started to look around. Nothing had been damaged, nothing had been destroyed... but the people in the area were still walking by as normal. They spoke of earthquakes now and how rare one can be felt on cloudy grounds. Some were even hoping it had been recorded somehow.

Now shaking, Velvet then quickly looked back to the rabbit. It had now returned to its usual happy state, telling the officer that it was not going to harm anyone even if the place is too boring for its tastes. It was smiling all the way through, unlike back when it was glaring at her with those scary eyes of its. Velvet, her, was not smiling. If anything, that was the last thing she would do right now. At the moment, there was only one thing she could be... and it was to be absolutely terrified for her well-being.

And then the rabbit went off without any warning whatsoever with surprising speed. Velvet watched it go, completely stunned, then realized that her right hand had neared her blade and has slightly unsheathed it from its scabbard. It was also shaking tremendously, probably fuelled with utter fear more than anything else. Staring at it, Velvet took a deep breath and tensed down, sheathing her blade completely as she then turned her eyes towards the rabbit. She did not want to face that thing, not after what it showed her... but if it really is this strong... then it probably really won't let her slip away now.

Screw it.

So, she watched the rabbit go, quickly tracking its trajectory and making a virtual path towards its position, then moved in. At first, she was a bit slower than usual due to the buildings in the area, but once she picked up the pace and rid herself of the fear that tried to choke her out, she started using the data that she has acquired from the map of the island to quickly make her way towards the rabbit as much as she could.

And once she did, the rabbit would then suddenly notice the blondie chasing after it around the city almost effortlessly, rushing through the city with breakneck speed that only seemed it would increase the further this goes.

Sugarfoot rushed away from this moment’s opponent as a rather high speed, well relative to the situation that he was in right now. Hopping around the ground, the normal people within the city didn’t even notice the critter rushing about like this. IT just felt like an awkward wind being blown around them.

Weaving in and out of alleyways and between buildings, the bunny’s ears soon rotated similar to that of radar dishes as he rushed about. “Oh? She’s fast, yes sir~” Sugarfoot mused to himself as he was going to need to pick up his pace the best that he could. Her foot steps were following him rather readily which was interesting, maybe it was that odd feeling he got from this person that gave them that bit of an edge.

“Let’s try something different!” Sugarfoot said loudly laughing as he hopped up into the air before spinning towards the ground using his ears almost like he was in a diving post to drill into the ground. Burrowing around at the same speed he was moving before, Sugarfoot completely flipped the direction that he was moving in as he rushed towards Velvet’s direction rather than running from her trying to give her the slip the best that he could.

He was only a few feet under the surface of the ground as he zigzagged around the area drilling about. “Let’s see if she can find me now.” He thought to himself, once he got a bit away he’d pop up again and start running since burrowing got him so dirty. At least it was less dirty on these weird sky islands.

As the chase continued and Velvet kept with the rabbit's insanely-fast pace rather easily, the Automata tried her best to form a plan within her mind. On her H.U.D., many schematics would come and go at breakneck speed with various shades of greens and reds as she either concluded that these options would be good or terrible. For now, she simply did not have enough information about the entire island and the bunny in general to arrive at a correct conclusion, so eventually, she just gave up and focused herself entirely on chasing the rabbit.

Fortunately, in the meanwhile, she could analyze it properly without trying to converse with it, calculating its height and speed while also allowing her systems to correctly calculate the wind pattern around him thanks to theoretical mathematics she read about in some of the books she found in the libraries of the island. Though she did found it uninteresting before, seeing it in action was a completely different story and maybe she'll borrow some books after this whole escapade to study them appropriately. In any case, the more she analyzed the bunny, the more she got a more-or-less accurate representation of how long she could reach him.

The problem was that number mostly equalized hers at the moment. And by "mostly", it's more so close to "precisely". It was as if that bunny accurately mimicked her level of absurd speed. Given this awful aura that surrounds it... Honestly, Velvet couldn't find herself surprised by the information. However, it gradually extended the time it would take to finish this little game. It might take the whole entire day to catch him as it currently stands.

I have to find a way to catch that thing without relying on speed. Devil Fruit could be useful here, but I haven't taken the time to properly master all of my abilities just yet, so that's gonna be a bother. Maybe I could surprise him with boobs when I get the chance. That could probably do it: shapeshifting is the only ability that I have correctly mastered as of now. I just need to not show the whole package, else that thread will find itself in the Twilight Zone real quick.

Eventually, though, as she continued to run behind the rabbit, the creature suddenly started laughing loudly, declaring that he wanted to do something different. Then, immediately after he finished, he rushed towards the ground and borrowed himself right under the clouds, which surprised some of the civilians that neared the area at the time. With a surprised frown, Velvet remained above the ground on the rooftops with patience as she watched the bunny keep up his original speed even underground. However, before she could say anything, it then completely turned tail and directed herself right towards her.

With widened eyes, the Automata quickly stopped dead in her tracks with one precise kick towards the building she stood on, then stared at the cloudy dirt trail as she quickly raised her right arm in an attempt to catch it. Quickly, she then sent herself towards the ground before smashing her arm in a drilling pattern, attempting her best to catch the rabbit in one fell swoop. For a very brief moment, Velvet remained immobile, leaving the civilians stunned as they watched what was going on with both shock and awe in their eyes.

However, the very moment Velvet's systems reported to her that she hadn't caught anything, the now-blonde woman would deadpan before quickly following the dirt path behind, leaving the civilians completely confused at what just happened. As she ran after the cloudy dirt trail, she couldn't help but shake her head in disappointment. The blasted thing wanted to waste her time and it downright succeeded. Now, she was further behind the rabbit. Yes, it at least found itself burrowing himself out of the ground once he got tired of being so dirty, but she was still way behind him.

So, there was only one solution to lessen the distance back to its original value.

I need to go faster.

There was then a loud boom that resonated from behind the bunny. It wasn't a natural sound. If it looked back, it would notice that a multitude of thruster flames seemed to come out of Velvet's back. It did not look like it hurt her; in fact, it seemed as though she was going faster because of them. She certainly seemed a bit faster than before! Albeit at the cost of being a little flashier, this will definitely shorten the distance between the bunny and the Automata.

Sugarfoot’s burrowing movement seemed to have worked rather well because he heard the weirdo’s movements hesitate. His large ears might have been his main means of drilling like this but even underground he’d be able to hear things coming towards himself with relative ease. It was nice to see someone making him move this fast which was something that didn’t happen all too often but at least this wasn’t a serious fight.

A few moments later, a hand would slam into the ground but miss the rabbit. The time it took someone Velvet’s size to crouch down and reach the ground was more than a big enough window for Sugarfoot to burrow away from her. It wasn’t going to work just trying to push your hands into the ground like that.

However, the gap wasn’t going to last long as Sugarfoot could feel the weirdo catching up to him slowly but surely. Kissing his teeth, the rabbit quickly U-turned once more heading straight towards Velvet once more but this time he was moving in an extremely rapid zigzag pattern. Thanks to the small upheaval his burrowing was causing this could more than potentially trip the woman at the speed that she was moving due to the ground suddenly being completely uneven.

Once that was done, Sugarfoot would attempt to drill straight passed her before popping up in various places leaving a minefield of holes all over the ground. It was like a game of whack-a-mole, except the rabbit was moving from hole to hole in such a rapid fashion and thanks to the premade holes, he wouldn’t be creating new trails.
