Hmm...

It has now been several days ever since Akane, alongside the rest of the Fynde division, have all left Simplyacity to resume their work as Cipher Pol agents. Well, more so the others, really, seeing as Akane had just arrived to the island and hadn't been much aware of the duration of the division's stay on the island. In total, Akane had barely stayed for more than a week before they had to leave. She had been lucky to have only stayed in an inn for her stay: at the least, she wasn't forced to say goodbye to anyone she "knew", so to speak. At the moment, the operative was simply accompanying Fynde on their ship, Hraesvelgr. Needless to say, it was a massive ship. On the day she stepped on that thing and was given her bed in the Woman's Quarters, Akane couldn't have been any more impressed by the sheer size of it all. It literally had everything one could wish for while travelling. Hell, it was so big and so useful that, at times, Akane could barely even recognize as the ship of a CP agent... but then again, Ashara being not normal is already more or less of a fact in Akane's mind. In fact, you could also mistake that gigantic thing for a Marine vessel... But anyways, it was not something she wanted to focus on right now. Currently, it was the dead of night. As far as she knew, pretty much everybody on the ship was asleep, including the massive beast which was apparently owned by this squad, which was perfect for her basic training schedule. Being completely alone here on this massive deck, training with the sound of the waves crashing the ship from time to time being the only sounds there was... it was a very soothing experience. She had, as of now, been training for at least four hours. The only reason why she was here doing push-ups and sit-ups was because she could not find the will to sleep. Ever since she arrived on the ship, she only had to deal with rather minor paperwork that could barely be referred to as very noteworthy, so, being done quickly, boredom quickly settled in her mind. It was a pity that she could not train with weaponry here, but she barely gave much of a care: her knowledge of weaponry was sufficient. With one more push-up, she huffed quietly, then slowly stood up before simply staring at the waves of the ocean. The night was calm, but it was cloudy and windy, so the ocean tonight was a bit more excited than usual. Of course, this meant nothing for a ship of this size, so Akane had absolutely nothing to worry about. It was more so the darkness that bothered her more than anything else. Sure, they had lights on the ship that at least brightened the deck, but with such pitch-black darkness, you could barely see any foe coming from any direction. It was quite daunting. Nevertheless, she tried her best to not worry about so she could continue her training in peace. Quietly, she approached the railings of the ship and began to tense down, merely occupying herself while she recovered from her intensive training regime. Even now, she still felt her muscles ache and her lungs screaming for oxygen, and yet, at first glance, it would only seem as though she was merely bothered by the exhaustion. It honestly surprised her, to say the least. Back then, I couldn't even last no more than five minutes without collapsing... and now, here I am, doing it for more than an hour. |

The blanket of stars glimmered and shone like jewels in the pale night sky, with their radiance helping to illuminate the gentle ocean alongside the majestic full moon. The Hraesvelgr was peacefully drifting along at a snails pace, allowing those on board to get a pleasant nights sleep if they could. It's not as though the ship couldn't continue it's course at the terrifying speed it was normally capable of, but as it so happened, the Captain of that vessel had made it very clear that she wanted everyone to be able to rest peacefully without any fast paced disturbances. Despite that, it seemed the Chief couldn't find the strength to sleep, as she ended up wandering through the main docks in the dead of night. Her blue hair caught the light of the moon rather well, causing it to glimmer while the woman paced around in her satin night dress. She must have still been somewhat dazed, as she didn't realize that she was still barefoot, even as she mercilessly trod across the cold, wooden flooring. She wasn't quite sure why she couldn't sleep properly, but that uncertainty irritated her more so than the lack of sleep itself. She pondered on whether it was because she was still immensely stressed out by all that had happened thus far, but then she didn't feel like that was the case. Whatever the reason was, she wouldn't have much chance to dwell on it, as her lazy midnight stroll found her wandering straight towards another member of her division. Pausing, the woman stared as her junior rested against the railing, with her sweat catching the light of the moon and making it very obvious that she was doing something quite taxing. Seeing Akane here did help to wake her up properly, and immediately the woman began to mentally think up a reason as to why she was there. From the looks of things, she appeared to be absolutely exhausted, but then there were more than a few reasons why a person could be exhausted in the dead of night like this. She drew amusement from wondering if the dark haired lady had just been through a late night liaison with another person. Certainly, she couldn't assume to know Akane that well, and with this ship being as big as it was, who was to say that she couldn't find someone to satisfy her bodily needs? Even so, as funny as it was, she had to be realistic when dealing with a girl like that, as chances were, she saw those kind of relationships as distractions, and would perhaps only resort to that sort of tactic to gather information. As a result of that, the Chief quickly came to the conclusion that she must have been training, and quite hard at that, as it seemed like she was absolutely winded. "Well, this is a surprise -- getting up to some late night training?", she asked with an air of pleasantness, as she had long since brushed aside her initial awkwardness back on Simplyacity. "You always struck me as the early bird type, so I didn't expect you to still be awake...though, I wad like you too", she mused, as she reminisced on the old days where she would get up at some ungodly hour just to strengthen her body. "I admit...I think I've gotten a little too lax lately" Edited by Zaine, Jul 5 2018, 07:51 AM.

Hmm...

With Akane being too focused on the crashing of the waves against the ship, Ashara was not noticed right away by the exhausted agent. So, when she heard the bluehead's voice fill the air, she quickly turned her head and put herself in a combat stance, her eyes glaring right at her leader as though she was an enemy of sorts. In an instant, she had been able to quickly adopt a fighting stance despite her exhaustion. Needless to say, it was an impressive sight, but it was probably a demanding feat that did more harm than good. Most likely, she would have not lasted long in combat while being so exhausted. It was only once she fully realized that it was the Chief that she tensed down, her eyes still wide with surprise despite her relief. Truth be told, the fact that she was unable to detect Ashara bewildered her. With her level of skill, she should be able to detect someone that is so close to her position. The fact that she was not able to do so could have led her to her death should this person have been anybody else that is as competent as the Chief. Already, Akane was waiting for some kind of punishment to appear. Usually, when she failed to do something so basic, both her master and her trainers usually punished her in some way or another. The only difference between those two is that the master did not need to do anything to punish her while the trainers usually were rougher with her. However, here, Ashara took more of a pleasant vibe than anything else almost as if she wanted to start a conversation. Most likely, that was her objective here, but nonetheless, it left Akane even more off-guard than before. Basically, the Chief was asking her if she was doing late night training... which was exactly what she was doing, all the while telling her that she was also just like her and that she has recently became a little too lax. Now that it seemed that she was not going to be punished, Akane admittedly tensed down enough to want to at least reply back to the mother with that same dull tone of hers, but still, she kept an eye on her while she put her right hand on the railings of the ship to ease her recovery: "Your children must have kept you from training. It is not optimal to do any physical exercise while being pregnant, and once the pregnancy is complete, you must recover for a few weeks. You must have also been taking care of the children themselves after they were born as well, even if Diana tended to them for you." She then let out a sigh as she more or less had finished recovering at this point. At this point, she was laying her back right against the railings to accelerate her body's recovery. Then, she continued, deciding that it was now probably best to talk about her training regimen now that her leader had caught her red-handed: "My training regimen demands that I train both during daytime and nighttime so that I can always remain ready for any situation. It was my master who have given me this schedule before he disappeared from the Cipher Pol organization." Ah... so she's not really an early bird type. Most likely, this woman probably doesn't even sleep that much. This probably means that she must not have been in bed during the previous nights on the ship either. |

Upon revealing herself to her wayward subordinate, the Chief's head tilted to the side in an act of mild confusion as the tall looking girl assumed what could only be described as a defensive stance of sorts. It certainly made talking to her a little more awkward, but even so, the Chief managed to spear through it, even if her brow was perked as a sign of perpetual bemusement over her strange behaviour. She was able to guess that her years of mental conditioning had meant that she would have to be ready to fight at any moment, but even so, to automatically assume an enemy would be aboard their own ship was something that she found a little strange. Thankfully, the woman managed to calm down a little in the Chief's presence, as she at least realized that adopting a fighting stance while talking to her was a little rude, or at the very least, a little awkward. Even so, the Chief herself never actively responded to her stance at all, as at this time of day, she hardly had the patience to humour anyone over that kind of foolishness. The blue haired bombshell managed to keep her lips formed into a firm smile as she addressed her subordinate, all the while revealing things that she thought would have helped put the agent at ease around her, but as she would soon find out, Akane wasn't the sort of person that could hold a normal conversation most of the time. After hearing Akane's supposed hypothesis over why the Chief was getting so lax lately, Ashara could only stare at her with a dumbfounded expression while perhaps showing a hint of irritation out of all it, as from the way she was wording it, the Agent certainly seemed to have implied that it was her children's fault for her lack of training lately. "On the contrary -- When I was pregnant with them, I still found the time to train every morning, until of course it grew too problematic, and after they were born, I was able to keep the regime going once I had recovered -- Managed to lose the baby weight easily enough, after all!", she spoke with her usual sheen, as she tried to remain calm and jovial despite the irksome insinuations that her subordinate was making. "The long and short of it is that I'm always able to find the time to train if I want to, so they are never a reason for why I can't -- In truth, I do train every now and then...but not nearly as much as I used to. It's surprising, but that way of doing things actually suits me better", She explained with a renewed smile, even going as far as to do a little flexing pose to show off, though it was meant to be more of a joke than anything serious, even if her body definitely had great definition to it. Hearing Akane's draconian training regime didn't surprise her much, but it did lead her to show some concern, as from the way she described it, the girl hardly had much time for anything other than training. Even more so, she couldn't help but see the irony in her words, as truly, if she was training as hard as she was saying, and on such a regular basis, then she couldn't really say she could be ready for anything while her body was reduced to a limping mess. "That's no good at all! If you're training really hard during most of the day and night, then how can you say that you would be ready to meet on any challenge if your body is worn out and struggling to cope? Unless the training itself is not that strenuous...either way, not having a good nights sleep is going to hurt you more than anything else", the woman scolded, keeping her arms folded through out as she started to look down at her despite how much shorter she was. It must have been tedious, but the Chief simply couldn't shy away from twisting her subordinates ear whenever she did something foolish. |

Of course, rather unsurprisingly after Akane finished describing the demands of her training regimen, Ashara then started to berate the agent for training too much. Akane was not surprised by that: ever since she joined this division, she has learned over time that the bluehead cares very much for her subordinates' well-being. It was not something that the agent was accustomed to in the slightest given the last few superiors she had. Even her master - who was more affectionate than most of the other people that led her through several operations - still had its rough times with her to make sure that she would correctly do things like he wanted her to do. Truthfully, though, it was probably why she felt so imbalanced with Ashara. With her master's teachings fully lodged inside her mind, it was quite difficult to accustom herself to the Chief's antics, which seemed to always aim for safety rather than full-blown training every time she had the chance to do so. It seemed as though she was treated like some sort of child rather than a proper agent, and in a way, Akane definitely felt a little bit disrespected, especially given the fact that she is literally both older and taller than this woman. Well, not really disrespected... more so just... estranged. Still, despite the fact that Ashara seemed quite against her proceedings with her training regimen, she knew that she had to say something in return as, after all, she still quite believed in its effectiveness. With crossed arms, she let out a sigh and replied to Ashara with that same dull tone, though at this point, it seemed more like she was already exhausted that the bluehead was going so far to bother her about her regimen than anything else: "It is indeed a strenuous process, but it is not as intensive as you believe, sir. I have been proceeding with my training regimen for the last few hours at the least, which consists of several basic physical exercises. These physical exercises include push-ups, sit-ups, jogging, sprint, stretches, et cetera. All of these exercises are meant to improve muscle mass and stamina as well as speed, as I am meant to repeat these tasks several times to achieve optimal performance. When my master gave me this regimen, I was unable to last for even but a minute before collapsing. Presently, I have only rested once." She then looked down towards the deck, a glint of nostalgia seeming to appear within her eyes as she reminisced: "Though, if I may be honest, I cannot compare myself to my master's own performance with this regimen. He was able to last for entire days while following the regimen. He barely even needed food and water during this process. It was rather impressive." She then raised her eyes back up towards Ashara's before continuing: "And so, it is why I follow this regimen everyday. I want to be like him, so that I can then execute him accordingly for his treason. As it stands, I would not survive a fight against him no matter how many times I try." How strange... It seemed that Akane wants to actually confront an ex-Cipher Pol agent on her own without even asking for the help of her comrades. Does she lack faith in their performance somehow? |

By no means could the Chief be considered to be a softie that's unable to accept difficult situations or news, but even she had to admit that she had a bit of a protective streak when it came to her subordinates, new and old, and so when she found out that this girl forced herself into this draconian training regime, she couldn't help but think of it as just another way that the World Government had tried to force her into a certain way of thinking. It wasn't that she didn't think the girl could handle such an exercise, but by this point, it seemed as though the Chief simply wanted to undermine the regime that created Akane, even if she didn't want to admit that. The Chief puffed her cheeks in a cutesy fit of annoyance as her subordinate insisted upon the effectiveness of the training she had endured thus far, though, judging by her supposed level of progress, even the Chief had to acknowledge that it was pretty impressive. "Well, that is good...", she uttered in an accepting tone, as she let her body rest against the railing in the same way as Akane, in a bit to try and meet her on her level and get more comfortable. "Well, if you're happy with this much, then I won't push you, but I think there are more effective ways to train, is all", the Chief spoke with that same smile of hers, as if she was trying to entice the taller girl into asking about it, which would have been just what the bluenette had wanted. What started as an instinctive urge to dote on her subordinate turned into an opportunity to try and uproot the dark foundations that made her up, but that too had to wait, as the dark haired woman had actually begun to open up a little. Needless to say, Ashara was surprised to her mention her Master in the way that she did, but she was not unhappy to have heard it, as even despite the dull tone that she spoke with, the Chief could feel the affection she had for that man. "Yes. John was an impressive man in many ways, and I'm sure you'll be like h-", what would have been a warm few words from Ashara was otherwise disrupted as the Chief became startled by the way Akane had so boldly claimed that she would do in the man that she had such strong feelings for. She was left silent with the bewildering reminder that she was still dealing with a loyal hound of the World Government, and that even her attachments meant little to her when it came to serving. Of course, as her superior, it was likely that she just didn't want to be seen as sympathetic in front of someone who could very well condemn her to the same sentence as her Master, but Ashara was not that sort of person, and right now she was more concerned about that mindset of hers. "Hmmm...Survive? What makes you think you'll be doing this alone? I understand your feelings but as you say, he is impressive...not to mention, he's not alone. What makes you think he'll give you that chance? We're all in this together, and it's about time that you realised that", the Chief spoke with a certain calmness in her tone, as she tried not to openly state that it wasn't right for her to want to kill her master, as she was sure that would just push the expressionless girl even further away. As the seconds dragged on, she found it harder and harder to maintain this veil when really she just wanted to know how Akane felt, and as expected, she couldn't contain herself any longer, forcing her to say something that she probably couldn't take back. "Either way...you seemed fond of him, so aren't you finding it hard to accept that he should be executed? It's not evil to feel conflicted when it's about someone you cared for". |
