...Enter your... mind...?" Vale asked. How could one go about doing that? What would he do once inside it? It didn't really make sense. But, then again, not much did ever since Vale arrived here. He shouldn't have been surprised. "Yes, I know many holy people." They often came to the palace, and being a prince, messenger, and diplomat, he had been schooled by many of them growing up. "But they're in the Kardon Kingdom, which is very far away." Or they could go to King Leon. Surely his kingdom had many holy merpeople as well. They weren't so uncommon to find, especially around royalty. Vale blushed as Kala's hand alighted on his chest, which had once been pale. Unnatural heat pooled where their flesh met, and it felt as if his skin were melting. He looked down to find it shining like a beacon. "You always make my skin do the weirdest things..." he commented. "And, apparently, my tail." He kicked his separated legs quickly, not really liking the feeling of it. If he weren't so used to crazy things happening around Kala, then he might have fainted. He hoped it would go back to normal - he liked his single tail. |

"Of course your skin reacts to me... You react to me... I don't understand how we have not grown up together- we are gods, it is good for us to be together... Contact and intense emotion is the key to strong powers for the gods and the mortals. As for being inside my head, you will need much mental stability, my mind will try to pull you apart like two magnets. Not only that, but Kala is not the perfect princess, you'll have to not get too sucked into memories, feelings, or they'll scar your brain and her's, both negatively. Plus, I doubt she wants you snooping around all that much in her past. Look into my eyes for a sample," She then stared at him, her eyes becoming a hypnotic color of noncolor. There were marble steps, floating in a forever-changing world of memories, random colors filled in the empty gaps. A memory seemed to go through him and he was transported into it. King Leon held Kala's small hand in his strong grip, "Shh, he's very young and easily startled, but I'm sure he'd love to meet you, even if he isn't in coherent thought yet..." He let go of her hand near the beautiful, white coral crib. She swam over the cradle and looked down at the baby, wrapped in a little blanket. "What is it? It smells..." She poked the chubby cheeks of the little merbaby; he was still so young he had fur where his fins would be. "It's a baby, my newest little boy... We were going to name him Jason, but I thought Gefren would suit more..." King Leon smiled, scratching his sons little chin. "Gefren..." Her voice became a sorrowful tone as she patted his head, "He will... Be well loved, and give much love in return... He will have good friends and live a long time..." She held back and took her hand away from the baby, giving a fake smile to King Leon and swam away quickly. King Leon smiled more, "Well that's wonderful! Is there anything else...? No bad news?" "I'd tell you, but that was all I saw, I think you're clear!" She gave another fake smile, "Can I return to my tower? I'm tired..." "Of course, thankyou, Kala!" His happy grin vanished along with everything else as she stole herself away. Once out of sight Kala swam back to her tower; crying. It ended as Vale was abruptly sucked from the memory and back to reality. Kayanesque still had her hand to his chest, she looked a little dazed, holding her head with her free hand, "That was a controlled look into my mind, as you can see, it is limited. I tried to steer you toward her younger memories, but I have no way of picking a memory and making sure you see only that one, so I hope it was nothing too embarrassing, not that I can think of any younger ones that are!" She smiled and let go of him, "Take me to your Kardon Kingdom then- there is no one qualified enough in Kala's home kingdom. Hopefully, there will be one at your home. If you want a better chance of both of us surviving a full mind-rescue, we will want to do it often for small doses. You will be able to have more control and be used to it more- just a suggestion. Lead the way- Navigator," She swam slowly in the general direction of their two kingdoms, she even swam more graceful, taking full advantage of her strange body. She almost swam as if she had one tail- so easy and graceful. "You can swim fast- I can keep up, I promise." |

With a small warning, a flash of blinding light, and an intense rush of nausea, Vale found himself inside Kala's memory, although it looked as if he was trying to watch something above water while still underneath of it himself. His head felt fit to burst, and his eyes bulged slightly. He shut out the memory for a moment and imagined a bubble around himself. The tugging feeling on his brain ceased. He watched intently, smiling when he realized that the little merbaby was Gefren. He had a fantastic fortune, according to Kala. To be well loved, to love well in return, to have good friends, and to live a long time. There was nothing more anyone could hope for in a fortune. However, Vale wondered if that was all true. He could spot Kala's fakeness the moment it appeared, and he wanted to know why. Had she lied to King Leon? Or had it been something else? Abruptly, Vale found himself back outside the memory, back in his own head. His stomach churned in protest and he almost vomitted, but he managed to force it back down. Whatever you say, milady," Vale said in a tone half-jesting, and half-truthful. He looked down to find his separate legs (that's what they were called, right?) once again combined into one tail, and he sighed in relief. Pushing himself from the sandy bottom, he swam up next to Kala, nodded to her, and then took off, fast as a bullet. Home! he thought. I get to go home! Of course, he couldn't keep up this pace for long, but he could for a few minutes and still have the energy to make it back. A smile errupted on his handsome face, his aqua hair flying wildly behind him, at the thought of home... |

She rushed after him- the pace was nothing! Well, nothing until she felt the cramp in her muscles and the knot in her stomach. She pushed it aside, the mortal body was strange with its pains and limitations. She pulled his arm lightly, "Maybe a lower level would be better for our safety?" She pulled him to swim in the seaweed, which, of course, parted for them so they never got tangled. Her antannae popped up as they began to swim closer to the temple. The seaweed grabbed Vale and muffled him, holding him tightly deep within itself. Kayanesque put a finger over her mouth to shush him and pointed above. Armed figures swarmed around the temple in a large number, they had weapons and large seacreatures with them. They did not look like merpeople, but more like some of the more nomadic 'fish people,' as they were pet-named. She watched them curiously as some of them pointed to the ground where the death started and pointed in that direction before most of the group headed that way. The rest seemed to be studying where the temple once stood; all who stayed were also armed. The seaweed released him and she pulled his arm, whispering, "Let's get to my kingdom first, the trek from their to yours is safe... They should leave since they wont find anything... Be quiet and I'll take us both until we are out of sight from them and hearing..." She grabbed his hand and both of them turned invisible, obviously she couldn't do it without contact, but once in contact could do so very well, at least as Kayanesque. It also made since she would swim, assuming he would be useless as a two-legged. The ribbons were also invisible; luckily. She slowly swam from the seaweed and towards her kingdom, making sure to not disturb or touch anything that could make noise or move. The sea creatures had stopped following her as soon as she had begun to follow Vale since she had told them they needed to keep a low profile. She swam slow as to not even create bubbles, or, noticeable bubbles more accuratly. Sorry, phail, but I knew we needed bad-guys in it, 'else it would be too easy!!!!!

-sigh- Of course... ![]() Honestly, Vale hadn't realized that he hadn't yet slowed down. "Sorry." His face was slightly flushed from the quick pace, but he was in high spirits due to the fact that they were going back to his home. His good mood faltered slightly when the seaweed once again entangled him. He kicked once on instinct alone, then remembered that Kala had done it, and most likely for a reason. He looked around slowly, and just barely glimpsed the men by the temple over the surrounding seaweed. He then held perfectly still until Kala released him. He nodded in agreement. Although he felt useless and far from masculine, being led around, it made sense. He didn't try to kick his legs, knowing it would mostly just creat a disturbance in the water. He felt like a scolded child being pulled about by his frustrated mother, and the thought almost made him laugh. Sorry. I didn't have a whole lot to say. |

I'm home now! I'm sorry, bad guys were stupid huh? ![]() She let go of him once they were farther from the temple and well out of hearing range, "That's odd, I don't understand why all these creatures want to hurt me... Hopefully, once this is all said and done you'll protect me a little better, huh?" She smiled childishly at him and swam casually in the water. She looked at him seriously again, "What are the limitations of this body, do you know? I was suprised to find myself becoming weaker as our speed spurt neared its end... Is this body sick or something?" She examined herself, it was so strange- being stuck like this. She was anxious to be back in her coma state of mind. It was like floating; alive yet dead. "Alright, I can imagine we wont encounter any problems from here on out, you may lead the way. Perhaps you might go slower- at least for now, this weariness is most annoying." |

No, they were a good idea. I was just being facetious. An aqua eyebrow raised in questions. Like he would know the limitations of Kala's body. She was a goddess reincarnate and ate magical coral. "No, your body is not sick. It's called fatigue. If you push yourself too hard, it puts strain on your physical body: your heart, lungs, muscles - all that stuff." Vale tried his best to explain, but most people learned these things over years of activity and didn't need to be told. "Yeah, I can go slower," Valerian responded, swimming nonchalantly in front of Kala, then falling below her slightly. Due to his single tail, it would make more effort for Kala if he swam directly in front of her, as well as disrupt her steering abilities. That was often why one-tailed armies swam in such strange (to other cultures) formations - to counteract their self-created water resistance. "We'll be lucky if we make it to my kingdom before nightfall. And I'm not sure what my people will say if they see me now." Because no matter if he and Kala were touching or not, his skin still retained all shades of the rainbow, and Vale had a feeling that it wouldn't be fading any time soon... Sorry it took so long. I've been really busy lately. Had family down from Pennsylvania. |

It's fine "Fatigue!? My, what a horrible curse- does everyone get it? Nightfall... What happens then, I heard the darkness makes mortals become unconcious in fear, then the sun revitalizes them. Mortals are strange I suppose..." She was making a reference to sleep, it was like how mortals explained why things they didn't understand happened, same with gods too! She sneezed when some kelp tickled her nose. She sort of drifted for a moment, dazed by herself. She then continued swimming at the speed set for her. "Well, once at my home, I am changing immediatly. The things she wears-" She paused as she saw a blinking red light. She swam down to examine it, "What is this? I've never seen anything like it before..." Upon closer examination, it was a mine, some of the humans were becoming cheaters, they would set blinking bombs into the water attached to nets, they would explode and the net would pull. The explosion was small since they wanted to leave most of the fish intact when caught by the net (assuming it was a large fish or a school of fish). Most merpeople had already figured out to stay away from them, but Kala had never been outside too far and Kayanesque had never been mortal. "Is it some sort of gem or something? Why does it blink? Can I take it with me? It's pretty..." |

Vale supposed that Kala was talking about sleep, in which case she had a funny way of expressing it. But then, he also supposed that Gods would be unfamiliar with that concept. After all, what Gods slept? "Something like that," Vale simply answered. So she was a little off, but she could figure it out for herself when nightfall came. He wasn't used to explaining things that seemed natural to someone who didn't yet understand or experience them his or herself. The young merman continued swimming on ahead, not noticing when Kala stopped to look at something until she mentioned red... and blinking. "Kala!" Vale cried, shooting back toward the God trapped in a young girl's body. Faster than he'd ever swam before, Vale knocked the blinking device from Kala's hands and all but tackled her, pressing her into the sandy bottom and covering her with his own body as he waited for the impact... Which didn't take long at all. In just a few moments, the mine went off, knocking the oxygen from his lungs. Because he was larger than a fish, he wasn't quite stunned, but close. His body shook and he gasped for air for a few long, terrifying moments. "Don't... touch those..." he said, then quickly pushed off of the bottom to begin swimming once more. "And watch out for nets, too." It was slightly disturbing the humans had started setting traps so deep in the ocean, but Vale wouldn't have suspected anything less. Humans were becoming more and more of a threat against merpeople, whether the ugly land creatures knew it or not. Bad post. Bleh. |

Kayanesque flinched at his sudden outburst. She blushed in embarrassment once he had gotten back to swimming, "Forgive me... I am not familiar with such things, I didn't spend a lot of time watching the merpeople, even the humans." She swam next to him then pointed up at the large shadow being cast from the surface of the water, "I suppose the humans are behind these explosives and 'nets'." She swam farther from them and watched as they dragged up the net that had been around the perimeter of the mine. She quickly swam back to the net and grabbed hold of it, letting it take her to the surface where she jumped off it right before surfacing and attached herself to the other end of the boat on the bottom. Her eyes glowed a red as she dug her suddenly-sharp nails into the boat. Red, vein-like cracks appeared and covered the boat. The passengers screamed as it spread to them, outlining their veins before it sliced each of their veins wide open. All of the passengers died quickly and the air was silent again. She growled and detached herself from the boat as it continued to drift with no one to steer, blood seeping off the sides, all that she left as evidence was the five claw holes from her hand. She blinked and she returned to normal, swimming back to the ocean floor, happier than ever. ((You can do a time skip. Lol, she's a little crazy *teehee*)) |

Vale could only stare and blink in horror as Kala swam back toward him, looking like she was the happiest creature in the sea. His heart gave a painful squeeze, and his stomach churned, making him feel sick. She had just killed all those people without batting an eyelash. Even though merpeople didn't like humans - loathed them, in fact - they didn't mercilessly slaughter them. "You realize those are your decendants, right? You do understand that those are people, with homes and families?" Vale couldn't make eye contact with Kala. He had mixed feelings about the humans. Yes, they were ugly and presented a real threat to not just merpeople, but then entire ocean ecosystem, but... But they were almost like merpeople, just stuck on land, much like the merpeople were limited to water. It was one thing to kill them in a fair fight, or to at least give them a chance to defend themselves, but it was another entirely to simply murder them all. There was a matter of honor and a certain amount of respect that should go into taking a life, and Kala hadn't displayed either. --- He swam in silence until they reached the Kardon Kingdom. He had swam toward Kala's kingdom, gotten them both something to eat, and then continued on, skirting the town itself. His mission was to bring Kala back, and he could very easily have just returned her to King Leon and let him deal with these issues, but it had gotten much more complicated much more quickly, and Vale was in too deep to hand this over to someone else. From there, they had continued to the Kardon Kingdom, Vale setting a rigorous pace without regard to the mermaid following him. He checked to be sure she didn't lag too much (he didn't want anything else to happen to her, after all), but refused to speak to her. He didn't know what to say. He still couldn't believe what she had done. Almost everyone had retired for the night. Only a few women were out, finishing up their daily chores: sweeping off walkways one final time, retrieving children's toys from their kelp yards, checking up on their gardens. One, carrying a basket, saw him and dropped it, though she managed to snatch it before it drifted too far. "Prince Valarien, you've returned!" she said, then stared. "What has happened to your skin? Your tail?" Vale simply smiled softly. "It's a long story. But we have to make it to the palace quickly. Don't tell anyone we're here." The mermaid nodded in response, quickly leaving and disappearing inside if her home. Vale led them on silently until they reached the palace, made of the most beautiful, hardened white sand. It was a place renowned for its grace: all sweeping archways and high, elegant ceilings. The throne room was completely open except for a few pillars placed at even intervals, overlooking the city. This is where Vale entered, knowing that there were no guards in the room. They stood on the opposite side of the throne room doors, but Vale knew of secret passages that no one else possibly could. For instance, the one directly behind the throne, meant for emergency exits should the king be endangered in any way. "This way," he whispered, and led her to the hidden tunnel that would lead to his father's personal chamber, where Kardon and his wife, Vale's mother, Ceceil, would be sleeping soundly. I'm probably only going to be able to reply on weekends for a while now. My weekdays are crammed! |

"You realize those are your decendants, right? You do understand that those are people, with homes and families?" She said nothing, only followed him. He did not understand, no one, could possibly understand. Her beautiful boy had been cursed to a horrible, greedy life because of her sister's jelousy and hate. She looked at Vale, the god had not understood either, much less the mortal. By the time she was at her kingdom, she was hungry, but she didn't eat. She continued swimming, the kelp bag in her hand. Once Kardon Kingdom came into view she began to lag farther and farther behind him. She looked up at the surface of the water, there was a small island near the kingdom, homes decorating the underwater portion of it. The island was too small for humans to care, but large enough for her to sit in the middle and escape from Vale, if she needed to. She touched the castle gently and then removed her hand. There was something from this place that she was suppose to remember. She looked at Vale, "This place... I don't want to be here, it tells me not to enter..." Suddenly blood seeped into the water, she looked down and saw her skin splitting itself open. After seven large cuts it stopped. She smiled a little, "This body is already decomposing itself... I should go back to my own kingdom and die there so at least they know you brought me back," She then whispered to herself, "I'm always a chore anyway..." She looked strait at Vale again, "You may think me mean and cruel, but I decide who dies, more cruel than dying to soon is never dying. You do not understand what I have done for the earth, the text spins it to make it sound like I always was able to find the right way to do it, the good way to do it and never says all the harm I physically caused myself for the world of mortals, for my sister, for you. Even as a god I was always misunderstood, and that has not changed. I should go, I suggest you stay here, this body will barely make it another day, but I will try and explain to them that it was not your fault, but I never was one for words..." She dropped her food and swam away, remembering her love. He understood most of the time, but some things could not be understood unless you were doing them... |

Kala thought she was misunderstood, but then again, she hadn't explained much of anything? She couldn't simply expect everyone to know what she was thinking, what she was doing, without explaining some things first. This Kala had been a goddess for many years - Vale may have looked like a god, but he was still mortal, and a young one, at that. He didn't understand much outside of what he had grown to know - what he had been taught. Perhaps, if Kala would have patience with him, he could become someone she could confide and trust in. But it would take time, and she didn't apparently didn't have much of it left. He watched he swim away - he let her, without giving chase. Everything in him screamed to go after her, but he knew she needed alone time, and so did he. And if he wanted to help her, he had other stops to make first, because he knew he'd get no more information directly from her at that moment. Whether she gave up or not, Vale was determined to save her, and save her he would. He slipped into the hidden tunnel and pulled the door back into place as silently as possible. He swam more quickly now, since Kala was no longer with him and his time was even more limited than it had been before. As he had known it would, the tunnel opened unto his parents' room, but he quickly left it, and them, behind as he slipped into the darkened rooms of the palace. All the lighting in the palace was natural. Sky lights lined every ceiling, and moonlight filtered in generously. He quietly swam down gently curving and sloping hallways until he found the room of the merman he was looking for - a merman that he was very close to. He knocked nine times, as he had ever since he was a young merboy. Kala had said that a Holy merman would know what to do, and this particular Holy merman was the one that had all but raised Vale himself, and surely the one who would know exactly what Vale had to do to save Kala. I don't know what you had in mind to save Kala, or if you wanted her to die, or what, but if you want to adopt the "Holy merman" character and tell "Vale," there'd be a better chance of future plot, because I have no idea what you wanted to happen when you made Kala start deteriorating... |

((I didn't have anything specific in mind, but I can make up that part of it! I don't want her to die, just a time crunch is all...))The door opened slowly, the man inside looked weary, but as soon as he saw his visitor, he smiled. "Vale! What are you doing here?" He whispered as he spoke not to alarm anyone, "You have to go back, I know you must be homesick, but you have to stick it out, I'm sorry to say!" He read the look on Vale's face, "Is something wrong, come in, come in!" He lead Vale into the room and closed the door gently, "What is the matter? If this is about the arrangement I will send you right back, you know. I miss you very much, as does the rest of the kingdom, but the fighting must stop." The older man floated calmly and yawned once, stretching himself slightly, his dull, grey, casual robe floating with him gently. |

Well, being incredibly ill at four in the morning does nothing in the way of sleep, so I s'pose I'll post. Though it'll be crappy... Because it's four in the morning... Oh, and you can give "the man" a name, silly. ![]() "Father!" Vale said upon seeing the older man (whom everyone called Father) open the door. He quickly went inside and sat in the open chair across the room from a large bed. Like most everywhere else, this room had many bay windows cut out of the pure white stone, which brightened the room significantly. "This isn't about homesickness. I've come here to discuss the fate of the entire world," Vale started before launching into his story, swimming about the room nervously as he did so. Of course, he summarized it a great deal so that Kala wouldn't die before he finished retelling the tale, but he kept the main details intact. Finally, he ended and swam up to Father, placing his hands on the older merman's shoulders. "What do I have to do to save her? She said you would know. You have to help me!" Vale all but begged. He needed help, and he was sure that his face showed his concern. |
