(ooc: I wasn’t thinking that Alaia would be going off on her own with only Annika and not wait at the castle. Oh well…)

The carriage plodded at the best speed it could manage in the bustle of the town. Eventually, the carriage pulled up next Great Hall. The driver got down and opened the door for the family. Terry would have run ahead, but that would have been undignified for someone his age. Plus he would have gotten lost.

Once the king entered the building, he sprouted his wings. So did his mother, and brother. I guess that’s something that we need to show here, our wings. Terry entered last and unfurled his cloudy white wings. He looked ahead and found Grand Master Reynaldo waiting for them. He came up to Terry and placed his hand on his shoulder and said, “Do not fear my prince. Do not give up hope.” Theobald looked at his chief advisor and asked, “How about it? Does it look like we have enough support?” Reynaldo thought for a minute and said, “Looks like that. It is just that the council has never seen or heard the boy since he was a baby. It will be a shock to see a strapping youth after all these years. A majority of the council is willing to give the boy a chance. I do have one concern though. I hope this doesn’t become a debate on how the Earthers are as a people.” The king nodded and said, “Well, let’s go into the chamber.”

The chamber was a large round room with hearty fireplace in the middle. It was lit and spoke of warmth and openness. As the family walked out of the door, Terry looked around. Already the chamber was quite full and some members were murmuring amongst themselves and glanced at him as he passed. Philemon leaned down and whispered, “It’s okay brother. I’m here. Ignore them. Here’s our spot. This section is reserved for us nobles.”

The four sat on the front row at the bottom and didn’t have to climb the steps to rows that were higher. They were to the right of a central chair which Philemon described as the place of the Chancellor. Terry looked at the other people in the section and nearly all of them introduced themselves. All the nobles were distant relatives and we happy that Iakona was not only alive, but he was a healthy young man.

As more and more members filled up the room, it looked like destiny’s meeting was at hand.
