(ooc: Well the class didn’t bring their backpacks with them, so I don’t know where she could have put the lunch. If anyone else asks, a wizard did it  )
Terry smiled back at Alaia. He had uncanny eyesight, but he didn’t need it to see that the sandwich wasn’t what others would consider normal. He got up looked around and repositioned himseld so that no one else would her eating the unusual sandwich. He didn’t know if this was customary, but he figured that either it wasn’t or other people just didn’t notice. He wasn’t’ sure because he hadn’t sat with Alaia at lunch before, usually sitting where there was space. The youth didn’t care what Alaia ate. He grinned, “Oh, don’t mind me.” and continued to eat his sandwich without missing a beat. On the side, he had barbeque flavored chips which was his favorite flavor and had lemonaide to drink. It was a nice relaxing afternoon with great weather. He then decided when and where to reveal his secret. I’ll do it at the memorial garden. After the final bell. It’s quiet, no windows facing the garden. Now, I just need to wait a couple of more hours.

The students were allowed an entire hour to eat lunch and chat, then it was back to the bus for a trip back to the school which would take at least 30 minutes. Terry nodded and simply replied, “Okay.” There wasn’t much else to say, their lunchtime was growing short. Soon the chaperones told the class that their time was nearly up and then it was back to the bus.

While tbe bus moved along, he rehearsed what to say and how to say what he wanted, but it mostly depended on what Alaia said.

bic: Alaia nodded and finished her lunch. She sat down at her normal spot on the bus. Alaia's eyes were excited. She knew they got back to school and such, they could talk. She thought about what she would say to Terry..

The bus soon pulled into the school...Time had flown as she had been thinking. A soft smile crept on her face. Alaia stepped out of the bus and walked towards the school.

As he heard the final bell ring and students filed out of Hamilton High School to move on what was next, Terry beckoned Alaia to follow him “This way.” Any moment now, truth.

In the middle of the garden, there was an oak tree, to the side a little waterfall coursing through a little stream and ending in a small pond. It was surrounded by four benches and tiled with bricks, some bearing the names of students, teachers, and staff that passed away while attending or being employed at the school. It was a place of solitary repose and they wouldn’t be bothered. Terry sat down and placed his elbows on his knees, clutching his hands and laying his head upon them and said, “So. Here we are. Now what? You should probably go first.” He looked up at her and waited.

ooc: ah, ok

bic: Alaia saw Terry and followed him.. When they came to the garden, she smiled..

He told her to go first, her eyes danced..She thought that she would take off her hat and bandanna then talk..Her hand moved to her head and it grasped the bill of her hat..Slowly she took the tight hat off. What was left was blue. It looked like hair but she worked her hands under the bandanna and slowly pulled it off.. Her ears screamed in happiness as they were set free..She shook her head to let her hair settle...

Her blue and white ears rotated and listened carefully to the surroundings..Three silver earrings on her left ear jingled in the wind..Her eyes danced as she said

"I'm a wolf..with a small percent of human..Just enough to look like this..My true form is a wolf..I don't know where I came from just the orphange and all the parents that threw me out.."

Her tail ached but she wouldn't let it come out..She'd run tonight in that field..Kristy said she'd take her..

(ooc: It’s showtime!)

Terry’s eyes got wide, “Whoa.” He was very mystified. So that was her secret. No wonder she had eaten a sandwich made of raw meat. He said, “Thank you. Thank you for showing me. Now it’s my turn, but where should I begin?”

He paused to think because he had never done anything like this. He never had to reveal his secret. His adopted parents knew as well as their children. It had always been a part of their lives, nothing new. “Hmm, well first, my birthday is in a couple of days. It might even be today or could have passed already. My adopted parents chose the day I came into their lives when I was about a year old as my brithday. They have kept much from me about how this came to be, but promise that when I turn 18, they’ll tell me since I’ll be an adult. For all I know I could be classified as an adult by my people.” He held up his left hand, palm facing to him and showed her his ring. “This is the only thing I have from my past. I don’t know what the letters say, but letters they are. They don’t belong to any known alphabet. I’ve worn it for years and it’s still as mysterious as when my father first gave it to me when I turned 10. The only other thing is that sometimes when I dream, I could swear that they were memories from before the Professor took me in.” He stood up and said, “If I’m to do this, I need to take this off. I wasn’t really expecting to do this after all.”

He clutched the bottom of his shirt and pulled it off. It had been a warm day so he hadn’t worn a tank undershirt. He turned back to the bench and carefully folded his shirt and placed it on the bench. This is it, the turning point. He faced Alaia and calmly looked at her as a pair of white wings sprouted from his back. They were huge compared to birds, but in proportion to a person of his size, perfectly typical. “And this is my secret. I have wings.”

Alaia nodded and smlied.."Hmm, my birthday is..wow..a few days away too.."

As he pulled of his shirt, she waited..As the wings sprouted from his back..Her eyes were surprised for a second but it quickly vanished..Her smile spread.. "Cool.." Her eyes sparkled and danced..

Her heart sang for a reason, she had no idea..She smiled then said "I like them..The wings..They're awesome...I can show you what I look like normally.."

She listened carefully for any human noises besides their own..There were none..She closed her eyes and thought "Wolf. I want to be my natural form. Wolf."

Her body transformed. Her nose lengthened, her once 'human' form dropped to the ground lightly in the form of a 4'2 wolf. The wolf raised it's head and wagged it's tail..The three piercings were still there on her ear..She closed hers once more and thought.."Human. I want to be my unatural form. Human." Her body transformed back to a human and there she stood, fully clothed and human Alaia..

Terry mused that she looked like a real wolf except for the earrings. He said “This is pretty much it for me. I don’t become a bird or anything, but they really work. They almost came out earlier in the day and nearly ruined a good tee shirt.” He gave them a flap. “See. I would fly a bit to show you, but since it’s daytime, I’m keeping my feet on the ground. All I do is just push off the ground like I’m jumping and let my wings catch the air. I can go up pretty high. That’s why I have excellent eyesight. Some people think I’m part Asian, but I’m not."

It had been a perfectly clear day, but the skies started to get cloudy. Terry said, “Here, this is for you before we go home for the day.” He reached out for a feather, winced in pain as he plucked it and handed it to Alaia “Don’t worry. I won’t miss the feather. I grow a new set everytime I grow them.” The boy didn’t say anything as all the feathers fell off and floated in the wind evaporating like sparkes of stardust leaving a smooth back, no trace that there had been anything attached. “Plus a separated feather when I make my wings goes away stays permanent. I suspect my people keep them out more, probably at all times. I just wish I knew who…”

The clouds grew darker and darker. Thunder roared and lightning crept along the clouds like tentacles reaching for something. No rain though. “Looks like rain. We better head inside, get our things and go home for the day before it starts to pour. Just Friday tommorrow and we get to the weekend.” He put his shirt back on and tucked it in. He faced the building and waited for Alaia.

Everyone was running everywhere trying to get under cover before it started to rain. He went to his locker and got his backpack out. He said, “I’ll see you tomorrow. Thanks again for sharing. My parents hate me being out when the weather’s like this. I should get going, else they’ll worry. I’m sorry that I can’t stay here any longer.” He headed out the main entrance and raced to his truck.

He hoped that it could get home before it started to rain. However, a part of his mind said that it wouldn't.

bic: Alaia said "Its ok! My sistr is here anyways..." She had shoved her hat on with her bandanna before they left the garden. She followed Terry to the main entrance, waved to him then walked her sister's car..Terry's feather tightly in her hand..

Alaia sat in the passengar seat of Kristy's car. Kristy said "Alaia, I was thinking.. Maybe we can just go to the field on your birthday.. And you can spend the night with your buddies.I already talked to mom and she said as long as yoou are allright with it"

Alaia nodded "Thats good with me!"

They pulled into the driveway and Alaia went to her room. The feather she put on her dresser. She sighed and looked out the window

Terry parked on the side of the street. Both of his parents were home which was unusual. His father usually came home late since he taught evening classes and hardly anything could get him away from campus when classes were going on. It had to be serious.

His mother looked away from the window and said with concern in her voice, "He's out in the back."

Terry entered the roomy backyard and found his adopted father leaning on his cane; not that he needed it. He faced away from the boy, looking at the sky. Terry approached the old man and was greeted with a firm serious face. Dr. Charmichael didn't look at the boy, but said, "You're back safe. The skies the way there are, I was wondering if you would make it home. I don't want to lose you, you know that lad?" He nodded, "Yes, sir. What's this about? What's wrong?" The old man said, "Change of plans, I'm afraid."

bic: Before long, the sky got darker. Alaia didn't like the look of it, for many reason's... When storms came she always had strange dreams that made her wonder about her past. Her mother called from downstairs for her. She walked downstairs and found her mother in the kitchen.
"Alaia, I have something for you. It was suppoused to wait for your birthday but..Here.."
Alaia's mom set a small box in her outstretched hand. Alaia, with slightly shaken hands opened the box. Inside was a ring and necklace. The ring was silver and had an intercate design of a wolf with sky blue eyes. The necklace the same. She smiled and put them on, thanking her mom.

Terry looked up the sky and looked back at the man who had taken him in so long ago mimicking his concerned face. Charmichael turned to him and smiled a fake smile. "Forgive me. Where does the time go. Let's go inside. We have to talk. First, some dinner." The two went inside and into the kitchen. Terry's favorite meal was being made: Chicken Lasagna.

Dinner was subdued. Terry was suspecting that something serious was going on. The weather wouldn't make them like this, right? After dinner, Carmichael said, "Let's go to the study shall we." Sophia Carmichael, his mother, usually stayed behind. This time however, she followed them there.

He entered not knowing what to expect. His father said, “Please sit.” The boy sat in his customary spot next to the table where they would play chess. His mother sat at the desk. His father unlocked the cabinet holding the oldest books in the house. He did it to preserve them and the boy didn’t think he ever saw it unlocked. As the man browsed, he said, “I suppose the best place to start is at the beginning. Ah, here we are.” He took down a journal and locked the cabinet again. He sat down and said, “I told you stories about Silas Carmichael, my ancestor who lived during the Colonial period, specifically the years leading to the Revolution. This is his journal from a time when he was a young man, just a couple of years older than you.” He gingerly turned the pages. “Here we go, March 3rd, 1760.”
Terry listed to him while he read the entry. What does something that happened three hundred years ago have to do with me? His question was soon answered.

“’The storm had been turbulent. It lasted several hours and yet shed no rain. Lightning struck one of our trees. In the morning, I surveyed the damage and found it toppled over, split in the middle. A sword was stuck in the wood.’ He goes on to say that it was made of a strange metal and bore strange symbols. He took it to many people, but no one could identify it. He gave up, had a scabbard made for it and made an heirloom about it. It was in the hands of relatives of mine, but an event 15 years ago changed that and I have kept it here to one day return it to its owner. You.”

Terry bolted out of the chair, “Me? I don’t own any sword. The only swords I use are for fencing and those are owned by the academy.” The Professor ignored what he said and rose out of the chair and went to the attic. He came back bearing a long box. He unlocked it and took out a sword and handed it to Terry. “Pull it out.” The boy held the hilt and pulled it out. He nearly dropped it. Near the blade on the hilt was same winged serpent and the same type of letters were etched on the lower end of the blade. It was just like the ring.

(ooc: I would continue this entry, but since it’s long enough, the second half will be my next post)
