bic: Alaia raised her eyebrows and then sighed. "Ok.." She looked at the ground then at the school when Terry asked her a few quetions. "I'm fine..just my 'parents' and I didn't have such a great time last night." She looked at Terry and her eyes said my wolf parents... "I'll tell you the rest later..." The bell started to ring.. She ran inside and got to her class just in time. |

Terry followed her to the classroom, also just making it. As the lesson progressed his mind was split paying attention to the teacher, thinking about the floating temple, and on Alaia's problem. He ultimately chose to pay attention to the teacher because the other two could be addressed later. He could always come back tonight to see if it was still there and fly up there to check it out. Perhaps he should bring Alaia with him, but would she want to go. She's upset. I don't want to hurt her feelings by not including her. |

Alaia tried her best to pay attention to the teacher. Her mind was filled with what happened last night but she quickly shook it out of her mind. She could think about that later. Her attention went back to the teacher. One of the people that sat beside her looked, worriedly at her. The teacher coughed and said "Alaia, what is your answer?" Alaia said, uncomfortably "What was the question again?" The teacher frowned and repeated the question. Alaia heard something about a president of the United States. "Uh...Abraham Lincoln?" The teacher shook his head and his frown deepened. This time though a look of concern was also across his face. "Alaia, we haven't even talked about Abraham Lincoln this unit!" There was more than reason he was concerned. Alaia usually got almost every question right and if the answer was wrong, It was usually pretty close but not quite the right answer..He started to write something on a slip of paper. He stood, walked over to Alaia's desk and set it on it. "Alaia, I want you to go to the office. Something is obviously wrong..." Alaia swallowed, stood up, took the slip of paper, and left the room, slowly. She went straight to the office. The principal looked quizzically at her when she came in. "Mr. Jenkins sent me in, sir..Here.." She gave him the paper. As he read it, his face became worried. "Is something wrong, Alaia?" Alaia shook her head.."Everything's fine..Just had a little fight at home.: She looked at the floor. The principal sighed and said "You wouldn't be distracted over a little fight, Alaia, I'm sure of that...Go home..You're probably sick.." Alaia nodded and walked out of the office and out of the school. She couldn't go home..So she sat in her little shelter of trees where she slept last night. There she waited anxiously for school to get out. Her stomach growled.. Alaia sighed..There was probably no food out here that she could eat... ooc: Hope you don't mind that I picked the subject they were in, name and gender of the teacher and gender of the principal... |

(ooc: I don’t mind.) Terry was alarmed at seeing her leave the room like that and wanted to follow her, but knew he could get into trouble for trying to leave before the end of the day. At lunchtime, he ordered a chicken nugget basket from the school cafeteria because one day a week he ordered from the school cafeteria. Other days featured lunches brought from home. The lunchroom was filled with the usual cacophony of high school conversation, but he could overhear rumors floating around about Alaia. It's unfair. No one should be subject to rumors. Terry hadn’t eaten with anyone in particular and when he heard the rumors get to his area. He rebuked the ones spreading them, “I would appreciate it if no rumors about Alaia are said. She’s my friend.” The students had never seen Terry like this. He was seriously firm in his voice. The conversations then switched to something else. He couldn’t guarantee the rumors would stop, but hopefully there would be some who would turn away from them. After that, he continued to eat in silence. He was going to eat the entire meal, but stopped. Does Alaia have anything to eat? He went to the counter where they had spare Styrofoam containers and put the rest of the nuggets and fries in the container. He left the lunchroom early and claimed he was going to go the library to do some extra studying. He headed to the garden where secrets were revealed. He wasn’t sure if she was still here, but deep in his heart he knew that she was still on school grounds, hidden. The garden made the most logical sense of where she would be. I’m not sure if you’d like this food, but I don’t want you to go hungry. It saps your strength. He headed there and once outside, he called out for here, “Alaia, are you out here!” |

bic: Alaia heard footsteps and started to panic. Then she heard Terry's voice and she stood slowly and walked out of her little 'shelter' and towards him. "I'm here, Terry." She walked up to him. Why was he out here? She saw the container in his hand and the food in it and she cocked her head. Did he bring that out to her? She'd gladly take it..Even though it looked like chicken nuggets and fries... ooc: ok, good! |

Terry found Alaia and said, "I had a feeling that you were still here. I wasn't sure if you had anything to eat, so I brought you this. I don't know if you want it, but you must be hungry." He held out the container for her and asked, "I hope I'm not being too nosy, but is there anything I can do? If you need a place to stay, I could ask my parents." |

Alaia smiled slightly "Thank you...I haven't had anything to eat..." She took the container and started to chew on a fry. She then looked at the ground "I don't know...I'll....talk to you after school.....Ok? That way I can fully explain..Thank you for the lunch..I'll be waiting for you..." She looked up at him and her eyes were thankful. She turned and walked back to her 'shelter'. Alaia sat down and started to munch on the food. |

Alaia had disappeared into the trees. He looked at his watch. I better get going myself. As he headed back to the building he wondered what was so gravely wrong with Alaia. She seemed to be physically okay, but emotionally far from it. Maybe he was getting too involved. I have my own problems after all. As he entered the building, he tilted his head and looked to the sky. Still there, still ominous. He made his way to his first post-lunch class, Latin with Mr. Falkner. His father knew Latin and he was fascinated by the language, so he enrolled in the class. Mr. Falkner was a slim man with a narrow face and his classroom was filled with pictures of the Roman Empire and various scholars. The class ended eventually and he moved on this his next class and soon it was the end of the day. The bell rang and he set out to find Alaia again. |

bic: Alaia finished the food slowly. Soon, she heard people coming out of the school and she stood. She walked out of her little 'shelter' and into view. She didn't want to walk onto school grounds where she was clearly visable. She sat down again on the ground in semi clear view, if someone wasn't looking for her they probably wouldn't see her but she knew that Terry would be looking for her. She waited anxiously for him to appear. She thought over what she should say...He probably thought something was terribly wrong but really nothing was that wrong, even she wasn't sure why she felt this way. Maybe it was the dreams and what had passed in between her parents and her. Before she knew what was happening, she was quietly sobbing. Alaia didn't know why but she was...Maybe it was because her entire world just crashed in around her..Her almost normal life just disappeared.. |

Terry had his backpack slung over his shoulders and headed back to the garden. As he approached, he started to hear crying. As he turned the corner, he saw it was Alaia. His backpack dropped to the ground. He slowly walked to her, his eyes full of worry. It’s more serious than I though. He said, “I’m here Alaia. Please tell me what’s wrong. I don’t like to see people upset like this. Maybe there is something I can do to help.” |

bic: Alaia looked up at him then looked away and covered her face with her hands..Her sobs were quiet yet they shook her body "I don't...know why...I'm so sad....My wolf parents....and I...had an...arguement last night..I tried to sleep at my house..but couldn't...so I left....I left a note....I feel so....broken.....My father doesn't think I'm trustworthy any more....because I became friends with you...He thinks you could kill us all...I told...him he was wrong...but he didn't believe me...like always...I don't know.........." She said this in between sobs.. |

Yes, it was more serious. Terry said, “I wouldn’t kill you and your people. I don’t even know if the calamity that orphaned me was brought on by the wolves. I cannot make war on innocents. Even if they were responsible, you had no part in it as probably many in your pack and there must have been a reason for the attack. Plus war would only create more sorrow.” He sat down. ‘You know, this could be something as simple as a misunderstanding. I need to think about this for a second. There are options to consider. First, I could go with you back to the wolves and plead my case, but that might not be ideal given recent events. Second, I could ask the Professor if you can stay at our place and maybe talk with your human parents. The third option would be to start at the beginning, the place I came from where I was born.” He turned away from her and looked up at the sky at the small building in the sky. He looked back at her, resolution etched in his face “I intend to get answers and I think you deserve them too.” |

Alaia nodded slowly. "I know that, but my father doesn't.." She listened to the rest of what he said. She didn't want to talk to her adopted parents. They weren't a part of this.. She slowly raised her eyes to Terry's, her face was set and her tears had stopped. She wiped her wet face and nodded. "Can I come with you?" Her face was determined and almost matched the expression of Terry's face.. |

He nodded and said, “Yes, let us do this. First, we need to prepare. I need to prepare. Since it is still light outside, we will wait for nightfall. In the meantime, you can either wait here for me to come back or come to my earthbound home and wait there while I get ready.” |

bic: Alaia nodded "Ok, I'd rather go to your house. I didn't really like being alone here last night.." She swallowed and stood. |
