Far off on the crisp cool breeze Kumi could hear a clock striking three. It was the devil's hour as they called it. Tonight, as far as he was concerned, it was his hour.

The target was a rich, entitled old man, who despite being born into riches apparently had been thickening the linings of his pockets with money made from sex trafficking. It was unclear how many innocent lives had been passed through the hands of this man and his cohorts in the sick entertainment of other rich low lives with more money then humanity, but the black lotus estimated it was well into the hundreds and Kumi intended to halt it before It turned to the thousands.

Hands ran down the warm leather that encased his body, checking one last time each weapons presence by touch as his eyes and ears surveyed for potential threats. The only sound was the wind. It was so late into the night not even the occasional hum of an electric automobile whizzed by, far down below from the rooftop.

He took a deep breath before giving the cord around his waist a good tug, and dove off the edge of the high rise building. One, Two, Three..
He counted the windows until he found the one he was looking for. He caught himself, and pulling a small pen sized object from a pouch on the side of his boot, braced himself with his feet against the glass.
The laser made a quick and silent job of cutting out the glass. Well mostly. When Kumi was forced to push It in it crashed against the floor. It was not quiet enough to keep the rest of the household hopefully unawares, and unfortunately just loud enough to wake the sleeping man in the bed.

Kumi was already inside before the man had enough wits about him to scream. He had a katana in his hand, the blade glowing like a flame in the moonlight. He raised it up and as he skillfully brought it down at the man, who had not even yet to scramble out of bed.

"HELP! HELP ME!" The man managed, but Kumi was sure that the cries would reach no one in time. For that to happen there would have needed to be someone right here at this moment to stop his blade.

There was but one shadow not quite like the rest, and as Kumi brought down the blade it moved to meet his strike. A black clad fore-arm stopped the thirsting katana before it could sever life. Two midnight blades ran lengthwise along this arm, their serrations held the katana in a lock that would not be easily broken. The shadow that had become a man smiled. It wasn't often that someone moved to a target as quickly as he did, had he paused for even a moment he wouldn't have made it in time.

Whoever this assassin was, they weren't hired to make it look like an accident. There had been no scan of the room and the katana, he assumed, was a statement piece. This assassination was probably to make a point, political or otherwise. It was a shame the symbolism would never come to fruition; the amount he was paid directly correlated to how dead his employer was and how lifeless this challenger would soon be.

Unfortunately he wasn't allowed to take the would-be assassin's head. The mayor had been clear that he wanted no association with the Dragon Slayer in the contract, so taking his prize and leaving a headless body ( his calling card ) was out of the question. So instead of drawing his falchion he unsheathed the much smaller dagger and, with his free right hand, went for the heart. His black, horned medieval helm obscured his face as he stepped forward to do the deed.

The albino killer had not expected anyone, let alone he appearance of someone that garbed themselves as some sort of medieval war lord. It was difficult to hide his surprise, but surprise had never been quite enough.
His body a well oiled and tuned machine reacted perfectly. Though he wore no armour as the stronger did the leather suit he wore left himself uninhibited by weight, and extremely flexible. As a gloved hand took hold of the dagger wielding hand, stopping it enough so that his boot might simultaneously find his attacker's chest. Kicking outward with all his strength he hoped to not only distance himself but pry back his weapon. If it did not work exactly as planned, he had a spare blade and plenty more weapons.

Meanwhile the Target had taken the opportunity to skedaddle. Despite being a older man he could really move when his life was at the risk of being violently and mercilessly cut open like the pig he truly was. He was going to get away.

Red eyes full of animalistic rage locked with the helmed man's and savagely bared fangs that matched them let out a growl of pure loathing.

Kumi's boot met with a solid chest guard, but one not made of metal like the helm. The Dragon Slayer had to react quickly to this blow in order to avoid being staggered. He moved backwards with the strike, tilting his forearm upwards to release the katana from the forward angled serrations. Had he continued to lock the sword in place he would have left himself open and unable to move them into their offensive position. Before he came to a skidding halt he tossed down the dagger and touched the side of his gauntlet, causing the blades to spring forward with a shunk. They were now like two giant claws extending from his wrist.

To replace his dagger he pulled a poisoned dirk from the side of his falchion's sheath. It was smaller than the dagger, but far more dangerous. Even a slight nick from the blade would cause the onset of paralysis. It was his own personal concoction, one that didn't kill but made the chase much easier.

"Now what will you do? You've failed your job pretty fantastically. Though it's to be expected considering your opponent was me. Any last words?" His voice was cool and ever so slightly accented.

That was extremely close. Kumi might have lost his hand to the blades had he not released and jumped back just when he did. He could feel some cool air on his skin, which told him the leather had torn, but he did not feel as if it had broken skin. He was glad the inside of the leather had been lined with a blade guarding material otherwise things could have been worse.

"How about go fuck your hat."

Kumi threw something at the man, but it seemed to miss. It hit the floor and exploded, filling the air with a puff of green smoke intending to blur vision and confuse. Soon he was behind the man, who would quickly find out that the swords his opponent carried were far more then decoration. Kumi had trained every day with such weapons since he was a child.

He struck at the man with an accuracy that was second nature. He aimed straight for the base of his spine, intending to paralyze, and end this quickly.

The helmet gave his laughter a metallic tint, "Funny." Then the green gas obscured his vision, "And clever...." It would be pointless to try and squint through this so he closed his eyes and saw the room through sound. He heard the air shudder behind him; this guy was fast, faster than even he was. That was a problem, he would not have enough time to dodge the incoming blow. He would have to block it. With as much swift dexterity as he could muster he grabbed the sheath of his falchion, tilted it so that the hilt of the sword was parallel with his back, and used his thumb to partially unsheathe it all in one motion. The exposed flat of the blade acted like a small shield, protecting him from the majority of the damage by deflecting it into his side rather than his spine.

"Woah there sailor, we haven't even been on a date yet." He said calmly, but there was pain in his voice. “Seems you come from a background that doesn’t value honor.” There were tuts of disapproval, “Don’t you know better than to attack an assassin from behind? That’s a cheap shot that’s reserved only for the most despicable of men. This kind of move does rule out a few of the syndicates though,” with a few quick steps he had placed his back protectively to a wall and turned to face in the direction of Kumi, twirling the poisoned dirk. “Night Fang and Karma’s Revenge are much too noble for someone like you. That would leave Crimson Death, but you don’t seem familiar. Hmmm…..otkuda vy?”

"Despicable? Noble? Funny words coming from someone protecting a man who traffics sex slaves as a means to stay wealthy. That's not exactly what I consider valuing honor. How many more will lead short and tortured lives because you helped him slip out of my grasp? You don't deserve any of my mercy."

From his boot Kumi pulled the laser cutter he had used on the glass earlier. With his free hand he shone it through the air and slashed back and forth several times in the assassins direction. It was a little too far away to work as it had on the glass, but it might have been capable of causing some damage, or at least enough of a burn that it might send the armored stranger reeling back. If he was quick enough.. maybe he could still make the kill.

"My services have always gone to the highest bidder. I don't play the morality game and I certainly don't ask for your mercy." That being said, he didn't much fancy the effects of the glass cutter. Even though his armor plating protected some of his body, the laser still sliced easily through the unreinforced black cloth. These long, thin cuts bled and stung enough to make him reevaluate his strategy. He had thus far been unsuccessful in closing the gap between himself and his agile opponent. The other problem was that he had taken a substantial wound to his side and the slices the laser had made weren't life threatening but were quite painful. Painful enough to cause slight hesitation in his movements.

Now this was going poorly. He had never met with anyone who could fight him one on one, let alone actually do this much harm to him. He went to draw his falchion to step up his range and close the gap, but before he could shots rang out from the floor beneath them. There was a glance at the open door and then a sigh as he relaxed his stance.

"That sounds like neither of us are getting paid." Footsteps trampled up the stairs and headed down the hall. "And that sounds like it's time to go. Do svidanija!" He took no time to make use of the hole in the glass Kumi had made, leaping out of it backwards and firing a grappling hook. With that, the Dragon Slayer disappeared up to the roof top.

Kumi heard the shots as well, but grit his teeth and did not run as quickly as his Russian nemesis had. Instead he spared a moment to listen. He could hear quick foot steps running up what sounded like stairs. Clearly this was not back up for the assassin or the target, as if that was the case the stranger assassin might have expected it and definitely would not have run.

He turned to the window. A bunch of cars had pulled up. The men still piling out of them certainly did not look like hires of the wealthy. Was this some sort of raid? Either way he would have to admit defeat and remove himself.

Quickly he grabbed hold of the line he had dropped for himself earlier and as fast as his arms would carry him pulled himself up toward the roof. He truly did not wish to head in the same direction the helmed man had, but it was a frightfully long way down.

Unfortunately one of the men below spotted him, and Kumi supposed the man thought his appearance suspicious, because a bullet shattered the window in front of Kumi about a foot before reaching the ledge. Kumi cursed, swinging dangerously. He had his footing on the window and with it breaking had lost that, and nearly his grip on the cord. Heart racing and white knuckled, he grabbed hold of the edge and hauled himself up. He pressed himself down flat as a rainfall of bullets chased him. The ledge was just high enough to keep him safe, but it did not mean that they would not try to come up here after him.

Keeping an eye out for the other danger, the dark armored assassin, Kumi ninja crawled for the other end of the high rise.

Kainos removed his helm as he leapt onto the roof. He landed heavily and with a wince, the wound in his side would make roof running practically impossible. As soon as he managed to get up from kneeling he went straight to the stash he had hidden earlier. Pulling a long bag from the loose vent he grabbed a communication device first.

"This is Dragon Slayer, requesting a pick up." he said with some reluctance. There was more gunfire below and the sounds of glass shattering behind him.

"Sorry what was that? I didn't quite get the part where the infamous Dragon Slayer needs his sorry ass rescuing?" Came a woman's voice.

Kainos rolled his eyes, "Yeah, well, much as I'd love to listen to you gloating I'm kind of bleeding here. Nng... and there's a medium sized problem a few floors down that is about to become my large problem on the roof."

"Oho~ That bad huh? I'm brining the helicopter to you, but you have to tell me how you hurt yourself. Trip on something in the dark?"

"Nope, had a heartwarming tango with the assassin I was supposed to take out. Unfortunately I'm a slow dancer and he was more into the faster stuff. Ah Jesus...." He withdrew his hand from the stab wound and found it slick with blood.

"Are you alright?"

"I redirected one of his attacks and I'm pretty sure it didn't hit anything important but its hard to tell. I'm not sure which hurts more, the stab wound or the tiny cuts from the laser cutter." he ran a hand through his blond hair. "I think I can hear you in the distance."

"You know I'm never going to let you live this one down right? Kainos Lyov, the great scourge of the city taken down by a nameless assassin?"

"I'm going to turn the comms off now." He said with a disapproving chuckle. In reality he had put the walkie-talkie down because he needed both hands to bandage his wounds. With slow movements he wrapped the white cloth around his waist.

"Ohhh boy that hurts. Nnng....gotta give him credit for that. Even if I'm not dead I'm pretty damn miserable." He sighed as he cared for his injuries, unaware that Kumi had joined him on the roof.

A voice came from rather close behind Kainos. "So.. Dragon slayer." Kumi had stood up once he was out of the line of fire, and though he kept a good distance, had heard most of the conversation. "That's quite the name pretty boy."

His words likely seemed a little hypocritical, being that his appearance was rather feminine, but perhaps he felt his vampire like skin and facial features left him out of this category.

"You are lucky its ending here tonight. If you ever get in my way again it might end differently. Ill make sure that instead of putting you in a bad mood, Ill put you in your grave."

Not waiting for a response Kumi made a run for the edge of the building and leapt. It seemed like a suicide jump, but Kumi narrowly landed on the lower roof across the gap, and kept running. He was not sticking around for those trigger happy thugs.

Kainos stiffened as soon as he heard the voice and expected to be very dead very quickly. What happened next was worse. Pretty boy?!

As Kumi leapt away Kainos grabbed the radio and pressed the talk button. "That sonuvabitch just threatened me."

"Oh god, Kainos you're not seriously thinking about-"

"Buzz around the block a few times, this bastard has a death wish I'm willing to grant." He tossed the radio to the side, sank a syringe full of painkillers into his side, and holstered a few fire arms.

"You're a complete idiot if you're going to chase after the guy who wounded you while you're still wounded." said the radio from afar. "Are you still there? Goddamnit Kainos."

In the distance he could see the helicopter making it's way over to him at full speed.

"Hey...there's no way I'm catching him on foot with this side, but if you give me a lift I'll put some bullets in him." He said after casually picking the radio back up.

There was a long silence as the helicopter hovered over him.

"Yeah yeah, just get in."

"Bank that way, he's headed across the roof tops." Kainos said, loading a clip into his favorite rifle.

"Got it."

It wasn't long before the silver helicopter drew alongside Kumi and the Dragon Slayer was taking surprisingly well aimed shots at him despite his movement and the motion of the helicopter.

"Why isn't he dead, Kainos?" The dark haired pilot yelled over the noise of the blades, "You're not really losing your touch are you?"

"I'm not trying to kill him, I'd like to know who he works for." He reloaded the rifle, adjusted his aim, and fired at Kumi's left leg.

"Well whatever the hell you're doing, you better do it fast. Even the bribed police aren't going to appreciate you firing bullets out of a helicopter."

Perhaps it was naivety, but Kumi had not expected the man to come after him, in particular while he was injured. He of course heard the helicopter coming, but he could not outrun it, and bullets were not exactly the easiest things to dodge. After making a landing Kumi pause for only a second to regain his footing. It was a second too long.

A scream of pain left his lips as he fell forward, a wave of searing hot pain blurring his vision. He tried to stand and fell forward again. A second try left him staggering toward the edge of the building, but he was not yet sure what he was going to do. Even if he got there, he could not pick up enough speed to jump and he was getting extremely dizzy.

"Now what hotshot? There's nowhere to la-" Before she could finish the idiot had swung down onto the landing rails, and dropped some distance onto the roof below. Granted he would have to make his way over to the adjacent building in order to survey his handiwork, but the target wasn't going anywhere soon.

He used a nearby concrete wall to force the gauntlet blades back into their spring loaded positions. "Now then." A few jumps and a short climb later, Kainos pulled himself over the lip of the roof. Those painkillers were very efficient, yet he still winced when he stood up. The next stage of his plan involved capture, something both he and his gear were unfamiliar with. "Where do you think you're going?" With swift steps he got next to the wounded man and made a sweeping kick at his legs.

Kumi regretted showing mercy toward this man. His speed was greatly compromised, not only by the searing pain each step cost him, but also the blood trail he was leaving. If Kumi had to guess, Kainos was not trying to capture him, but give him a slow and painful death, as at this rate he was sure he would bleed out.

He was not able to move away quickly enough and the fall to the ground nearly left him with a yell parting from his lips. Instead he grit his teeth and with tremendous effort quelled the noise to nothing but a groan of pain.

Angry eyes, though hazy looked up at Kainos and from his hair Kumi plucked three throwing needles, each loaded with poison. He threw them quite well considering his condition, but he was not sure where they would land. Quite honestly things were beginning to grow rather fuzzy.
