It is known to be the birthplace of the Straw Hat Pirates' Cook, Sanji, as well as that of his family; the legendary explorer Montblanc Noland and his descendants; and the origins of three members of the The Worst Generation of the last era. Sometime in the distant past, the entire of North Blue was conquered by the infamous Vinsmoke Family, whose cruel reign led to their name becoming synonymous with evil.

The East Blue is commonly known as the weakest of all the seas. Pirates who are considered great and threatening in this sea are regarded as low rate compared to pirates from the other seas and especially in the Grand Line. Ironically, despite its poor fame, the East Blue was the birthplace of the most powerful pirates of all time, the late Pirate Kings Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Luffy, and many other powerful and world renowned characters such as Monkey D. Dragon, Nami, Ussop, and Roronoa Zoro.

It is known to be the birthplace of the Straw Hat Pirates' Archaeologist, Nico Robin, and Musician, Brook, the Yonko Red-Haired Shanks and one of the members of The Worst Generation of the last era, Capone Bege. It was also where the destruction of Ohara took place over their knowledge of a poneglyph.

It is known as the birthplace of the Straw Hat Pirates' Shipwright, Franky, the son of the Pirate King, Portgas D. Ace, and three members of The Worst Generation of the last era: Eustass Kid, his subordinate Killer and Jewelry Bonney. It is also where Portgas D. Ace's mother, Portgas D. Rouge, was able to avoid the Marines by keeping the unborn Ace in her womb for a full period of twenty months.

The Red Line is a long continent that stretches around the entire world, perpendicular to the Grand Line and intersecting at two points – Reverse Mountain and Mariejois.

The Calm Belt is a sea area that surrounds the Grand Line, called so because there are no winds or sea currents. As a result, sailing through it is extremely difficult, especially because it is the nesting ground for the sea kings. Even if a ship requires neither wind nor currents to sail, it would still be in danger of being attacked by these creatures.

Reverse Mountain is a mountain at one of the points where the four Blues meet and is one of the two known entrances to the Grand Line. This place is unique in that rivers from the Blues flow up the mountain, meet at the top, and then flow down into the Grand Line. This is due to the fact that the mountain, being a "Winter Island" using Grand Line terminology, is much colder than the surrounding sea in the Blues but not in the Grand Line. Many pirates entering the Grand Line die before they can even get up to the top of the mountain, because the hostile water currents and storms force them to crash into the mountain walls.

The Calm Belts are two areas that are just north and south of the Grand Line. These areas almost never have ocean currents or winds blowing, and are also nesting grounds for Sea Kings. Because of this and the difficulty in traversing it the World Government has built large ferries that allow travellers to cross the Calm Belts without having to deal with the dangers of doing so.

Known at the Route of Kings, this passage through Paradise is famous as being the path both Pirate Kings took in their travels and as a result both pirates and marines flock here. Because of the Pirate Kings' influence most natives view pirates in a good if chaotic light.

A small Route that goes into Route Two proper, this path is mostly used by Underworld traders and dealers to move their products as discreetly as possible. The few Marine patrols that do enter the area are often attacked and/or stolen from.

A Route ravaged by war and conflict, this path is known for rugged warriors and battle-scarred islands. The Revolutionary Army is most active here as they attempt to free countries from World Government control one island at a time.

The most secluded Route, this path is the least inhabited and there is a lack of both pirates and Marines on this Route as few goods pass through here. Most of the islands in this Route are far and very secluded and as a result one can often go through this Route without anyone knowing who they are.

A Route known for its vastly different islands, cultures, and populaces. As the most populated Route tons of goods and valuables go through the Route though as a result crime is high as well. Because of how many people live in this Route one could meet almost anybody both evil and benign.

This tiny Route is used by the World Government for their more private operations and orders. The islands on this small Route are also used to train various World Government employees from Marines to Cipher Pol agents. Bounty Hunters also visit here in order to collect their bounties from captured criminals.

One of the safest Routes, this path is heavily controlled and monitored by the Marines and Cipher Pol. The World Government uses this Route extensively as the fastest way of travel through the Grand Line for both information and goods. Those who run afoul with the law in this Route will have a very hard time.

The island where all the Routes meet and end, the island is heavily populated with travellers looking to go further into the Grand Line. The markets on this island are both packed and varied and one can find almost any good on this island for the right price. Here is where you can enter either the Sea Train Zone or the Florian Triangle Area before heading to the End of Paradise.

The Sea Train Zone unites many islands under one train line, allowing people to visit islands that they never could before. For a price anyone can ride the Sea Train or have their ship hitched to it and take a ride to another island.

A haunted sea, the Florian Triangle has grown since the Pirate King Monkey D. Luffy sailed through its treacherous waters long ago. Now the haunted mists have claimed all the islands in the later part of the Grand Line save for the Sea Train Zone, the Sky Islands, and the End of Paradise. Despite this many islands have changed little and because it has stretched so far the waters past its core islands aren't nearly as mysterious and spooky.

Consisting of all the Sky Islands outside of the Grand Line Routes, the islands of the Sky Ocean are as varied and strange as the Sky Islands of the Routes if easier to get to thanks to the High West Summit Streams, a less powerful version of the Knock Up Stream that splits up into many streams that connect the various Sky Islands.

The final stretch of Paradise, this is where people go in order to enter the New World. Despite the large presence of the World Government many pirates and other lawless types pass through here every day in order to get past the Red Line and into the New World.

The volatile currents and weather of the Grand Line can turn the most blissful journey into a life-threatening situation in a flash. Some gigantic sea monsters or unruly adventurers set the perfect scene for on-board shenanigans, naval battles, and many other adventures.
