Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

How quickly will Purdue foul here? I would assume that if it gets past midcourt, you foul pretty quickly.

If Purdue can get it to OT, I like their chances. Haas scoring at will.

Man, think Swanigan should have went up with the shot instead of taking the shot fake.

Just kept getting themselves behind and couldn't get over the hump.

Not a lot of depth inside. Foul trouble for Haas will be a concern all year. But when he's in and the refs don't let him get mauled, he's going bury a lot of opponents on the block.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

He went to the line 9 times in 20 minutes. Not sure that qualifies as the refs letting him get mauled. That last foul on Paschall was a really bad call.

I did think that Painter was a little too careful with him with three fouls. I think that Swanigan's foul problems led Painter into playing it a little safer with Haas as he didn't want both on the bench with four.

In the end, Villanova hit their free throws at the end and Purdue didn't. I think Haas hit his first six and missed three big ones down the stretch.

I'm not saying that was the case last night, just in general. He gets pounded on a lot and seems not to always get the calls because he is so big.

He scored 22 points in 20 minutes. If he can stay on the court (and that's a big if)Purdue is going to win a lot of games. I'm not sure there is an answer for him defensively.

I also think Purdue will shoot the 3 better. Edwards times 2 and Mathias are all 40% types from 3 and Cline should help too. I think there are a lot of positives to take from playing that team basically dead even.

Haas' free throw is pretty other worldly given how much time he is on the court. His rate is 11 free throws per 40 minutes played for his career. He's going to get pounded a lot inside, he's going to get a lot of free throws, and he's going to get fouled sometimes and not get called. He's not going to get every call -- like you said, he's so big sometimes they won't call it but I think at this point it's pretty much established and that is something that is to be expected. He'll get fouled a lot, some won't get called because of his size, but he's still going to get to the line at a very high rate.

Purdue obviously is going to shoot better from three than they have been. At this point the only real noticable one for the year that really isn't hitting is Carsen, but he's taken a decent chunk of Purdue's threes and that's hurt the percentage. Once he starts hitting at a more normal rate and Cline returns, I expect to see the team up close to the 40 percent mark.
