Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Purdue won its first pool game at the World University Games over Argentina. It also won three exhibition games (two vs Canada here in America and one vs Norway in Taipei).

They aren't a clear cut favorite but should be one of the better teams. It's kind of cool seeing them in Team USA jerseys.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Killed basketball power United Arab Emirates last night/early morning by like 40-50 points. Shot it well for the first time.

These games are nice to get adjusted to no Swanigan, but I think the biggest part was the full summer of full on, coaching staff involved practices. Helps integrate the new comers and it's really benefitted Jacquil Taylor who is healthy for the time being. He's been blocking shots and rebounding at a high level. That'd be huge from the backup center spot.

Another blowout earlier today.

A big surprise out of this has been Sasha Stefanovic. He has played well all summer and the coaching staff apparently LOVES him. He may redshirt because of what's in front of him, but he also may force his way onto the court. He's shot it incredibly well since he's been on campus and he's surprised with his athleticism and toughness. I didn't expect much from him.

I think it will be a better judge of this team when we get out of pool play. This experience is going to be invaluable once the regular season starts. Hopefully we play like it is March when conference play begins in December.

Adjusting to life after Swanigan is helpful in a competitive environment. Also the couple of months of practice plus playing for the newcomers should allow them to be more comfortable come the fall. My only worry is burn out but Painter has made comments that they are preparing for that and they are young kids so I don't worry a whole lot.

A lot of positives should come from this. Plus it's a great experience for the kids.

Beat Israel in OT to advance to the semis. Israel was pretty good and one of the best in the tournament. Purdue hit 20 3s.

Carsen hit 8 threes. It will be hard to beat us if he does that regularly

Beat Serbia by 30 or so. Vince had 31 in 3 quarters and sat out the 4th. He rolled his ankle last game so it was nice to get him some rest. He's been Purdue/
Team USA's star.

Play Lithuania tomorrow for the gold.

Silver for Team USA/Purdue. Lithuania killed them on the glass. Might be a problem all year for Purdue.

Lithuania looked like a B1G caliber team to me. Good size and a lot of skill.

A little context of what has happened in the past at the WUG...

2015- Kansas Jayhawks plus Nic Moore (SMU) won gold

2013- McDermott, Yogi, Adrien Payne, etc, took 9th place

2011- another All Star team (Draymond, Mbakwe, Jamychal Green, John Jenkins, Ashton Gibbs), coached by Painter, Zo and Brad Stevens finished 5th

2009- All Star team with Talor Battle, Rob Hummel, Evan Turner took bronze, coached by Bo Ryan

2007- Northern Iowa took 9th

The first three quarters were fun to watch. You could tell it was the eighth game in 10 days towards the end. Four white Jerseys in the paint and somehow a single leaping Lithuanian ended up with the ball.
