Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Yay! People talking Purdue basketball!

Been a fun game! We've had some great patience. They want to play straight up, fine. Pound it through Haas and Haarms. Other than a couple early Carsen 3s, they took the best shot every possession and forced Marquette to adjust. Then, the instant they start doubling, boom. Pass out, swing it around, and drain multiple 3s. Marquette has some stellar shooters who have made amazing plays. But it just feels like it doesn't matter. We are a machine, and will grind down anyone.
Howard was ridiculous. I thought they played really good D on him.

Impressive to do thi without Vince the majority of the game.
Yup, no complaints on the defensive effort. He made some really tough looks.

I would have never thought Eifert could man the 4 so well. He's very opportunistic. Fills the spot without being a weak point on either end, and is playing SO well off of the 5.
Just to reply to myself.......

Kinda surprised Taylor hasn't gotten any minutes at the 4 with such an opening tonight. He showed pretty good perimeter game during the very early preseason last year (or was it two years ago?) and seems athletic enough to switch out there.
He’s coming off missing a month of practice. He played a little in the first half.
But only after Haarms also picked up his second.

A Haas/Taylor front line intrigues me, and this feels like it would have been an ideal opportunity to try it.
Don’t know if Taylor moves well enough. And he’s not a great decision maker.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I was cringing a little with Eifert playing so much. I think the time in Taiwan is paying off early.
Definitely. They're very much in sync (after that first 5 minutes of scrambling). The announcer's repeated stating that they're in "mid-season form" isn't really wrong...

Marquette's definitely made it a good test for us. A very fun game to watch.

Marquette is going to need the water boy to sub in if they keep fouling people out.
Haas would foul out half of a team if he got called evenly all night long.

Definitely! Going on the road, taking someone's best shot, and ending up like this....winning handily is lots of fun!

This is the first game I've watched, and they are meeting my high expectations. (after finally hitting some threes)

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

I really need that bucket of cold water. Been struggling for a couple weeks to temper hype and expectations. This team is good.

MSU is going to be a tough matchup for anyone in the B1G, but I wouldn’t count out Purdue. I think Purdue has better guards, and Haas/Edwards/Haarms will at the very least be competitive vs MSUs front line.

We had their number last year. Swanigan was huge in those games, but I think we can trade blows with them. Not getting a home game against them is a crime against our schedule and the joys of college basketball as a whole.

Eastern looked really outmatched tonight. Lanky, athletic.......and lost on the court. He didn't know how to move the ball around to set up the offense, and got completely abused on defense, falling for every hesitation and pump. Just needs to relax a bit and play the game instead of pressing quite as much. Don't need a steal on every play.

He’s an odd fit with this group. He will have the ball in his hands a lot in the future but not with these guys. Just looks uncomfortable. Staff really likes him. He works on his jumper and he could be a really good player. Great size and feel for a big guard.

Looking forward to seeing how he comes along, but I think he's pretty far away at the moment. Luckily, PJ doesn't get in foul trouble, is the most reliable 32 minutes of efficient play on the team, and the motion offense doesn't require a great backup PG. Edwards, Mathias, Cline, or even VEdwards are just fine bringing the ball up and swinging it around. I think the 10-15 minutes / night he'll get in the easy games will be immensely valuable going forward, but he's not going to see the court much come March.

Yeah, as long as PJ is healthy and out of foul trouble, he will only play spy minutes. Same with Eifert. It’s good to get them experience now though just in case.

Painter has talked about putting Eastern on opponent's 2 or 3 rather than guard the point. Didn't do it tonight, Nojel could not keep up. Granted, Rowsey was a tough cover.

Reminded me of several games last year in that the opposition would make run after run, never quite taking the lead, and we'd come right back. Love the experienced team.

Good to see Carsen bounce back from a rough first half. It was interesting when they showed Painter in the timeout talking to him. Very positive, said the right things and it worked.

Liked seeing Cline go to the basket, had some nice assists.
Eifert....man you gotta say he played pretty well. 8 points, 4 boards, no TO's.

13 minutes for Vince and we still won like that. Gonna be a fun year.......but I think MSU and Minny will kill us on the boards.
