Glad for Purdue's sake that there wasn't truth to him going to Tennessee. Brohm was a good hire. If he succeeds like I think he will, he likely will eventually leave but enjoy him while he's here.
The Big Ten West could be the thing that keeps him there longer. Has to be as easy of a major division as there is. Plus it’s protected game vs Indiana keeps you away from an extra top east team yearly. I would think Louisville would always be a player. But after the high high majors, not really too concerned unless the money is outrageous. Not sure I’d want any part of the SEC while Saban is there.
With the emergence of Michigan under Harbaugh and the decline of Nebraska, it's gotten to be a very pronounced difference. Let's face it, the blue bloods right now are Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Penn State.....four being the in the East. Occasionally Iowa or Northwestern have there, but not on a consistent basis. That’s why I think Purdue is a good place to coach right now. Tiller proved you can win here, support has been elevated and the West plus guaranteed game vs Indiana is about the best schedule you can have in a major conference.

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

...and now they just fired their AD (Currie) -- their AD that they JUST hired!!!...so it is sounding more and more like the Brohm deal was a done deal, but Currie was being completely undermined because of the Schiano fiasco...hearing that former coach Philip Fulmer (who currently has an administrative role) was behind the scenes pushing for responsibilities to be taken away from Currie, who was part of the administration that helped get Fulmer fired...what a fucking soap opera... ...oh man, I have been so entertained this past week...I DON'T WANT IT TO END!!!...
The Brohm thing was not a done deal. The guy was out recruiting for Purdue the entire week. He never met with anyone at Tennessee. I'm not sure why you are anyone else is pretending to know exactly what went down. So he was out recruiting? So what? You don't stop doing your job until you sign on the dotted line. Nothing is guaranteed. and he didn't meet with them? Again, so what? Given how this search has gone, it doesn't seem like a face to face would have stopped them from panic offering someone the job.
Do I think it's likely he accepted the position and then it fell through? No. Not really. Do I think they reached out to him and asked if it's a position he would accept should they move forward and he said, "yes"? That seems more likely. But again, not sure how anyone but him and Tenn could know for sure.

It will be used against him in recruiting as being a coach who may leave in the short term.
I wouldn’t believe one thing coming from the UT media at this point. That whole situation is a mess and has been a lot of false reporting.

I think if any coach at Indiana or Purdue makes them a consistent top 20 team, they won't be around much after that. Joe Tiller retiring at Purdue was a minor surprise, IMO -- 8 straight bowls to start his tenure at Purdue with teams that won between 6 and 9 games every year.
Honestly, even at 69-77-3, I think it was a mistake to fire Bill Mallory at IU. 6 bowls in his 11 years at IU taking over that dreadful program should have granted a longer leash than he was given.

Given Lane Kiffin and Bruce Pearl, I wouldn't trust anything coming from one of their coaches either.
There certainly is a reason that Cuonzo Martin left in what most would consider to be a lateral move to California. Their fans think they should be Kentucky in basketball and Alabama in football when they've never been either.

Outside of Women's Basketball, UT hasn't had much to brag about... br ...HAHA...and they haven't even been relevant in women's basketball for around ten years or so...
...again, the most shocking thing about this entire "coaching search" fiasco - IMO - is that Jimmy Hyams put himself out there like that...he is on Nashville radio every Monday and Friday morning and he NEVER commits to any rumors, always very careful and I have always trusted and respected what he says...he has been around forever, so he had not much to gain and his respected reputation to lose by committing himself to that information...just so crazy he was willing to put that tweet out there without something sound to base from...this is the only reason I am saying I believe there to have been some fire somewhere to this smoke...
