Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I'm just happy to escape with the W. Purdue didn't put its best foot forward the last 30 minutes, but its nice to win, and will help with seeding come tournament time.

That's still a game Purdue should probably win by 6-9 points. They missed quite a few easy ones at the rim and just didn't seem sharp at times. But the refs let both teams play pretty physically off the ball, and that hurts a player movement/ball movement type offense like both teams run. It was sort of an ugly game at times.

We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

After that game, Purdue has an 80% chance or greater to win in all of its remaining games except for 3 (per Kenpom)

Saturday @Minnesota 72% 7 point favorite
February 10 @MSU 33% 5 point underdog
February 15 @UW 77% 9 point favorite

The end of this game is going to suck. They seem to be getting all the bounces and just seem like they are going to make every play. Need someone to hit a shot desperately.
HaHa I'm reading the game commentary this morning, and the ending certainly did suck for UM! (Curious to see what you guys said about the final two calls.) *continue reading*

I'm sure a lot of Michigan fans think that wasn't a foul on Wagner. I still can't get over basically letting them run the ball up to twenty five feet out in 1.3 seconds and fouling. Hell, harass them in the backcourt and foul them there if you are going to commit the foul. Just an absolutely bad job there.....forget what happened after 4.8.
In my opinion, an obvious hook like that deserves to be called a foul, kind of like a DB grabbing the jersey is almost always called PI.

Regarding the out of bounds call, if you are going to review it, then I think you needed to give the ball to Purdue. If you don't review it, you are going to miss more obvious errors that the fans see on instant replay. It reminds me a bit of reviewing MLB calls, and how the "runner wins ties" rule is almost meaningless now that ties (using replay video) are extremely rare. Is the game better? I think it's ok, and now we don't need to worry about egregious errors like the one in the World Series a few years ago.

Sorry to post so much this late in your game thread....I just checked the stat line for Mathias. 5/9 from the field and 4/7 from three....how many shots has he gotten up this half? I think all five field goals came in the first half, didn't they?

I'd look for them to get him a look here or at least get the ball and let him drive and dish.
They've let both teams play physical off the ball. Its hard to get guys open on pin downs and screens right now because the defender is just kind of staying attached and fighting through the screen.

Purdue always passes the ball to the wing to initiate offense, and its been a bear to get that started today. A lot of uncomfortable passes and a lot of catches out to 27-30 feet.
I hope other coaches weren't paying attention. Nebraska did the same sort of things, denying the wing pass, stay tight on the handoffs, just forcing us out of what we wanted to do. It has been fairly effective for two games. Painter has gone to running a lot of sets and the results speak for themselves..........but he may need a tweek if others keep doing it. Like to see a few back cuts/ back picks to keep them honest.

My problem is that quite often on those kind of out of bounds plays, the ref missed a foul call on the opponent that resulted in the ball going out of bounds. (not saying that was the case here). But that isn't reviewable -- just who it was off of last.
