Former 5* recruit from Brownsburg is transferring from Clemson. He was the #2 QB prospect in the country in the 2017 class. He got beat out by Bryant again this spring. He will sit out this upcoming season and have 3 years to play. Sounds to be a Purdue/Northwestern battle. He had a brother that played as a walk on at Northwestern. This would be a major recruiting win for Brohm. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Rumor that IU will also be in the mix for Johnson. |

I read that the S&C coach from his HS and a couple of the assistants from UT where he decommitted from are at Indiana. I’d still be very shocked if he stays close and it’s not Purdue or Northwestern. |

The rumors I've seen are that Purdue and Indiana are options but that Northwestern is the favorite. |

Northwestern offers the clearest path to starting. I think Purdue’s offense makes the most sense. I’d assume knowing those coaches would be Indiana’s draw? Purdue really likes the freshman that enrolled in the winter and Sindelar still has two years left so I’m not too worried about missing on Johnson, but getting a guy like that could really keep Purdue’s recruiting momentum going, especially in the state of Indiana. |

It's also thought that Indiana also offers a decent path to starting after 2018. Penix and Ramsey would be the competition, and honestly Johnson's ceiling is much higher than theirs. Honestly, I think this season at IU Dawson will come in and immediately win the starting job. But Johnson isn't a natural fit for what Allen has seemed to want in a quarterback in terms of mobility. Personally I'd prefer a drop back guy to what Allen seems to want at QB, but if IU were to land Johnson that would be the offensive coordinator getting his way and not Allen in terms of what offensive system they run. I haven't liked Allen's influence on the offense and wish he'd stick to his forte. |
