Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

His game reminds me of a young McGrady. Doesn't look overly fast because he is 6'8, but can do inside and out. I think the key for him (as it has been for Gordon this year) to be effective is getting his points in an efficient manner. When Gordon does that, with DJ down low, its tough to beat. But if EJ gets 20 on 5-15 shooting, its going to be tough to find points other places.

Very exciting young kid, I have heard bad things about his attitude, but I hope thats not true because he seems to be ultra talented. He is going to be a nightmare next year for sure.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

very athletic, nice looking jumper. if crawford can mature and bassett keeps improving theyll make a nice core. i just wish we had a true big guy coming in capable of playing right away to help him out. my gut tells me pritchard wont make an impact as a frosh and who knows about holman. still lots of questions.

Ebanks looks great, but we really are gonna need help on the inside next year. It could get really ugly on the boards. I wish sampson would just play Eli so he won't be as raw next year, but hopely he gains 30 lbs.

Gotta love Ebanks' game, but you gotta hate a big that tries to shoot the 3. we already have shooters. the last thing we need is another pf wishing he was a pg.

I watched him play last May in an AAU tourney, and he definitely does not have the skill set or body type of a PF. He's as pure of a 3 as you'll find, but with abnormal height and length. Think Kevin Durant maybe an inch or two shorter (and probably a better ballhandler than KD). Gonna be a HUGE matchup problem for teams next year. He has a great outside shot and can pretty much score at will. The rest of his team was pretty bad, so it was hard to tell what kind of a defender he is. But from what I hear, it's not his strong point.

Offensively, he'll mostly play the 3, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him spend a little time defending the 4 on defense.

Hummel will be guarding Ebanks when he gets off the bus next year in West Lafayette. :D

I don't like the Durant comparison a whole lot. I think he is actually more explosive than Durant going to the basket. Durant was just so smooth all over the court. You could toss it to him in the post and he could face you up. He floated around and got open really well. He just had a feel for the game to get his shot. Ebanks seems more one-on-one type, much more get to the basket and finish. Should be a hell of a player.

How long does Ebanks stick around?

How long does Ebanks stick around?

It's really hard to say with a kid like Devin. He's got some small holes in his game right now, but there's just SO much raw talent and ,like you said, a natural feel for the game......you never really know how fast he can improve until he hits the floor in an IU uniform.

It's different with Gordon, because coming into college, he was definitely a more well-rounded player than Ebanks.......though Devin is probably actually better than EJ in a few areas.

I'm saying he'll be here 2 years....but he could easily be one-and-done as well.

EDIT- also remember that like Basset and Crawford, Ebanks is a 5th year Prep school player as well. He is a year older than most frosh. Same thing with Terrell Holloway.

The main reason I ask, is because I think he needs to be around at least 2 to really help this program at all. I think if he is here only 1, he is just a fill in for Gordon, then you will need an equally talented person after Ebanks or things could start going downhill.

I guess what I'm saying is having all this talent come in and out is hindering the development of Crawford/Bassett and others. I mean this will be the third different backcourt mate that Bassett will have played with in three years.

Seems to me with a lot of these kids, its really just their pre-conceived notion, and not really how they play when they get to school. Gotta hope Ebanks thinks he needs a few years.
