Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Who do you think he will play for next year? Do you even think he will play at all?

I really haven't heard that anyone is interested in him. If I were a betting man, I would say in the American League as a DH. Maybe Tampa Bay could use him.

Knowing my luck, probably Oakland. If so, I'll have to pull for the Cubbies this year.

You're always welcome aboard the Cubbie Express Jazen. This is the year!

I was pulling for them last year, tim, Ramirez just couldn't get it done by himself.

Albeit a weak division, I'll predict the Cubbies will win the Central this year.

You better predict them winning the World Series then because something will happen to that team and they will under achieve..... seems like it always happens!

I'd honestly love to see it, even if Hell does freeze over. 2003 had all the right elements, and definately one of the best playoff scenario's I can ever remember.

Steve Bartman 'turned' the series against Chicago, opening the door for the Wild Card Marlins to go up against the Evil Empire (NYY).

Oakland (vs Boston) was there, on a roll, then Eric Byrnes and Miguel Tejada loses all consciousness and forgets how to run the bases.

When all was said and done, Pudge Rodgriguez sparked Florida all the way through the playoffs and ultimately beat the hated Yanks.

Can't wait to see how Theriot, Pie and Fukudome pan out this year. It's gonna be fun. :)

I hope he retires, is proven guilty of taking roids, and an asterisk is put in the Record books.

I think the Reds "could" win the Central. I think they are one quality starting pitcher shy, but they are just as good as the Cubs. Cubs have little better starting pitching. Plus, I am leary of Dusty Baker as a manager, he had talent in Chicago and couldn't win.

Cubs season will largely depend on the development of the aforementioned Pie, Fukudome, and Theriot. We have the veterans, but our young talent will make or break our year. As much as I hate to say it, I think Milwaukee will win the Central.

The Cubs will at least be as good as last year. Fukudome and Pie cannot be much worse than Jones and Floyd. Plus, Theriot just needs to do what he did last year and we are the same. But I expect better things from a lot of people, so I think we will improve on last year's record and probably be the second best team in the NL behind the Mets.

We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I hope you're right. Soriano definitely needs to cut down on the k's

I would love to get him out of the 1 hole, but I don't think that is going to happen. He would have a field day at the 5 slot, where he could produce more runs with his bat and have more opportunities to run. I think at the top, he needs to be more cautious on the base paths because you don't want to take runners off base with Lee and Ramirez coming up. If Pie could develop into a leadoff guy or we can swing that Roberts deal, we would be dynamite offensively.

As I've mentioned before, I played a PC Baseball sim dynasty with the Cubs last year, every game, all manual, and I wound up losing Theriot, Cedeno, and even Eric Patterson early in the year.

With DeRosa stinking it up at the plate (hitting around .190 over 30 games), I had to shuffle the personnel and wound up putting Soriano back at 2nd base, leaving Pie, Jones, Floyd and Murton in the outfield. Pagan saw a little playing time as well.

But to my point, do you guys think Piniella will ever have Soriano back at 2nd base? If Pie and Fukudome produce, could Murton round out that outfield sufficent enough to stay solid all year?

With Soriano as a pivot for infield/outfield duties, the pressure off Theriot, Fontenot and DeRosa (not to mention the outfield) could be substantial.

If you remember right, Soriano was throwing a bitch about playing left field when he went to the Nats for that year.

Just curious what you guys think.
