Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I chose Wisky....

I can't go with my heart anymore with this team... but we do have a shot.

I hope we kick the living shit out of PU though... 4 3-star white freshmen and E'Taunn Moore who EJ owns... wtf mate

I'm totally honest with you, I haven't seen PU play this year ONCE.

I gotta catch em soon though, they must be for real.

They play harder than any team that you will see all year long, especially on defense. For being young and not the biggest, strongest bunch, they play a very physical brand of basketball. This may seem like blasphemy to some, but they remind me of the IU teams of the early 90s in that respect. Tough, man to man defense. Motion offense looking to get an open player a good look. Take care of the ball, turn the other team over. That is making up for the lack of offensive consistency from most of our players, whether they are hitting or not, they all play D. Its never pretty (see the Iowa game), but they have been getting it done with amazing effort and they play as a team. I think Moore's UI game Saturday has kind of made him the go-to guy, because he has been our best creator the past 5 or so. From what you have been preaching you want from IU, I really think you would enjoy watching Purdue from a strictly basketball stand point.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

MSU has already lost to Iowa and Penn State. Plus, they still have to play us twice, go to Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio State. So forget about Sparty.

I think Purdue will lose in Bloomington (of course), at Wisconsin, and at Ohio State.

Wisconsin has a good chance. They'll probably lose at Assembly Hall, and the only other very possible loss is at OSU.

We may only lose 1 or 2 more games in the Big Ten. So, if you look this all over, there's a chance we could see a possible tie.

No prob bri. I'm sure things will be erratic for a couple of days. I got some ideas up my sleeve too, I'll work out the kinks in the next few days as well.

Great job, my friend.

They CAN pull it off, IMO if we beat Wisky @ home that would put us in prime position. Also, you can't forget that MSU matchup in 2 weeks. Anyone (IU students) on this board going to College Gameday? Should be a great time.

by the way, Jazen, your sig. picture is cool.

Keep in mind that Wisconsin also LOST a game that we DON'T have on our schedule.....@ Purdue

Makes up for Wisky not having to travel to East Lansing this year B)

I think the final schedules for the top 4 are pretty even. I believe all have a trip to OSU left, IU still gets all of them at home, UW will have all of them at home, Purdue misses the Hoosiers at home, but already beat UW.

Its really all about who plays the best down the stretch. As a Purdue fan, I'm happy to only have a game a piece with each left. If we can get MSU at home, and let the rest beat each other up and take care of business I like our chances, but who knows with such a young team. The Hoosiers have the luxury of having all the teams in Assembly, so thats always an advantage. Should be exciting if nothing else.

If you look at the top 5 teams (IU, PU, OSU, MSU, UW), it's weird at how backloaded all of our conference schedules are.

Same reason why every team in the conference seems to be either 7-1 or 2-6

That was a god-send for the Boilers too because before the Big Ten season, I wasn't expecting much more than .500 in the Big Ten, maybe 10-8. Getting UM at, Iowa twice, UI twice, and PSU early was huge to get the ball rolling. Plus, having two home games against OSU/UW were nice. Flip our schedule around, and it may have been tough to get confidence and get on a roll.

Its tough to get a read on the Hoosiers though. The team has really got me for a loss for words. I mean, there seems to be some good pieces there (probably the two best players in the league), but something is missing. Obviously, a big man would help, but its an attitude or something. Hopefully, some tough games will light a fire under some of these kids' asses.

DCamden, as of late, I think the problem is mainly chemistry. Everyone on the floor is a shoot-first player and I don't think they've bought into the team concept yet. They need to figure out that as talented as they are individually, the sum of their parts is what's gonna take them to the next level.

Look at Wisconsin....and even Purude. Right now, they are the anti-IU...

As for MSU, I don't really know what their problem is. No consistent scoring I suppose....from anywhere. They're proving once again that they're only as good as Neitzel plays...

I haven't looked at their stats, but outside of Neitzel they don't have much in the three point shooting category from what I remember. Which if you play a team that can hit from outside, it just puts you pretty far behind, its the great equalizer against a team you really aren't better than. That partially explains Purdue so far, I believe we are first in 3s made and 3 pt % in league play.

Yeah, there isn't much team defense or offense being player for the Hoosiers. It doesn't seem that the defense is creating any offense, which is making things seem pretty stagnant. Here is an interesting read on what Sampson has been saying about the offense:

http://www.tmnews.com/stories/2008/02/02/s...s.nw-013833.tms

“A new offense?” he said. “Nothing wrong with our offense. It’s how we’re running it.”

That has to be alarming. Plus, the part that the offense is derived from the NBA? Strange situation there.
