On Doug Gotlieb's show on ESPN . Doug asked Bruce about taking the IU job. Pearl said that "IU was a dream job" and that after coaching in Southern Indiana for so many years, he fully understands just how special basketball is to the state. He also called Bloomington a "very special place". |

As I posted earlier: Bruce Pearl lived in Evansville Indiana for a number of years. I knew him personally at USI when he coached the Screaming Eagles. If given the chance and the right circumstances, I can tell you he said he would love to come back to Indiana for good and settle his roots so to speak. Take it for what its worth. IU was mentioned several times when he was at USI......... B) |

I think he would have taken the job as an upgrade from USI but now he is at UT. The only reason he might take it is because of his ties and to get more into the spotlight. I still don't see it happening but anything is possible at this point. |

I could see him going to IU, but I don't know if he would at this point. If his team this season makes a Final Four run, how does he leave that? I know you have to think of your future, but he can win and win big at UT. That would be a huge risk, but he is an outgoing kind of guy, so who knows. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

I would love it, but I just don't see it happening. This is gonna be "Billy Donovan to UK" all over again. |

Give it time. If IU wants him bad enough, it will all pan out in the end. Pearl is nothing like Donovan. If he wants the job, he'll take it in a heart beat. |

I hate to say it cause I am a hoosier for life, but the women in the state of Tennessee are collectively better looking than those in Indiana. Based on Pearl's molesting of Erin Andrews last night, hopefully that isn't his biggest motivator....haha. Of course, in this state a decent looking Hoosier Basketball coach could probably bone the Governor's wife if he wanted to. In Tennessee, your lucky if 1/2 of your own campus recognizes your pic. |

Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism. | |

For those vol fans that said Bruce isn't going anywhere, no way he would consider it, they must not have seen the articles where he said that IU was a dream job. However it is nice to see other fans across the country still thinking IU is a high prestige job still. Maybe the good coaches out there will agree |

Pearl is a great coach and has some legitimate IU ties, but he just doesn't sound like a guy who wants to leave UT. That video is from like a month or so ago: "I could not leave the University of Tennessee under any conditions, my first year we had success the Indiana job opened.... that was a job I was looking at, but there wasn't even an ounce of inclination. These people at Tennessee gave me the chance of a lifetime...... There is no way you leave them before the job is done. Pat Summit is the face of UT, Phillip Fulmer is the face of UT football... I want to be the face of UT basketball." After those comments, can he leave? And if he does, would you buy all the great things he would say at IU? I'm sorry, I've heard a lot about Pearl, I started coming around, but this video makes me love him as a coach and also makes me think there is about a .0000001% chance of leaving UT and going to IU. |
