Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, but I recently bought a new home and have been moving in and have not had access to my computer the past few days. However, I am not impressed with Dackich the first two games. IU's interior defense has been absolutely horrible. How many back door layups did they give to NW and when were they going to try and shut down Koufus tonight? I think we can do much better than this guy and I hope we open our wallets for a new coach that is worth a damn. Just my opinion. |

Its hard to defend the interior when nobody is willing to play interior defense. You can put that on Dakich, but nobody is good enough to do it except DJ and he doesn't want to get into foul trouble. Dakich and Sampson did about as much as they could all year with just nobody to defend the paint. DJ can when he wants, but like I said, you think he is going to risk getting two fouls early in the game? Heck no. The backdoor cuts were to be expected. The team didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and half the team skipped the Friday practice. So all they had to prepare for a tough NW offensive scheme was one walk through at 9 pm the night before. Tough to do anything at that point. Dakich is fine. He is doing every bit as well as Sampson and I think will eventually do more with this team than Sampson was going to do. I'm guessing he will have them playing harder and running their mouths at refs a lot less by the end of the season (I know most teams complain, but Ellis/Thomas/Gordon/White are pretty awful). This team will be disciplined and turn the ball over less because of Dakich. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

My problem is that when were being exposed defensively, especially in the NW game it took forever for Dakich to change things up. |

DJ is also still battling the flu. Dakich said on Fish's radio show after the game that DJ is down some weight and needed an IV after the game. The dehydration also led to the cramping up at the end of the game as well. Needless to say, our interior defense is not playing at 100% right now. |

I'm not too thrilled with Dakich. He just seems happy to have the job. Did you listen to the post game interview, awful. I think he will do a good enough job this year but I don't like him for the long run. Also sounds like Maccallum thought he should have gotten the job, so maybe some in house bickering going on. I think there will be a 3 way tie for the Big Ten title, everyone loses one more. Whoever doent will win it. :goiu: |
