Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Here is a name that hasn't been mentioned on any message board as a possible candidate to take over the IU coaching position. Does the name Mike Montgomery, the ex-Standford coach. What do you think of this possibility? He coached for 18 seasons for Standford before taking the head coaching position for the Golden State Warriors. I guess he is available and could be a good fit. I know he is 61 years old, but I think he could coach 9 or 10 years to get our program back on track and then turn it over to someone he recommends. He was the winningest coach in Standford histroy where he posted a 393 - 167 (.702) record. He also reached the final 4 in 1998. Here is more information, click on links. :goiu:

I know he has a proven NCAA track record but I hope IU hires a young coach who can rebuild and stay with us for 15-20 years.

He is a big name that could convince our recruits to stay and get our program put back on solid ground again before we go to a long term coach. Matter of fact, he could have a hand in naming his successor, much like Gene Keady did for Purdue and look how that is working out.

IU will at least get another mediocre coach like Sampson, and I expect them to get a much better one. Keeping Ebanks is out of the new coach's control, and mainly depends on the NCAA sanctions. If IU gets a one year post-season ban, you have to assume he's gone.

I don't think they will get a one year ban. Phone calls are still minor by any program's standards and we brought it to the NCAA's attention and put a self imposed sanction on ourselves. I do thing we will get an additional year under that self imposed sanction, but not a ban from post season. IU can't help it that Sampson lied to them, that was out of the contorl of the University and that is why we forced him to resign. The NCAA will look at that as well. Hell Ohio State actually paid a player and only got that one year (self-imposed) ban from post season. They should have gotten worse. but they didn't because they brought it to the NCAA's attention.

I agree. I think the majority of the NCAA axe will come down on Sampson himself, given his personal record......but we'll definitely get some splash damage for knowing of that track record when he was hired.

Like I said in another thread a couple weeks ago, I expect another scholly loss or 2, some recruiting restrictions, and a temporary ban on holding summer Elite Camps for HS prospects.
