Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I lurked on ESPN for several years. I have been lurking on here from close to the start.

I booed in person the "Keep Mike Davis" chants as a student.

I hoped Sampson was the answer.

I cried while sitting on 267 in Plainfield on my way to Bloomington when I heard Hep died.

I love reading all the B.S. and otherwise I read on here.

Crean is our next Dinardo.

My step-dad is/was good friends with Doninger, sad to say.

I still post my IU basketball posters at work, but I still feel Crean is our new Dinardo.

Bash freely.

I will read all.

Gonna make comments like that and not even TRY to justify them? I'm genuinely curious to hear your explanation.

By the way, welcome to the board (as a poster  )

Dinardo took a pseudo power (LSU) to high rankings, as Crean took a 70's champ to a final four. I see comparisons. Kudos for the accomplishment. Did we consider McKillop because Davidson went to the FF in 69? NO.

I like Tom Crean. I love him over Sampson. I love him over Pitino, Alford, Miller, and even Izzo (Izzo would never have been truly Indiana.)

BTW, no hard feelings. I am a lurker because I love IU, I love to hear ideas.

You love him over two guys who have won national titles, but you still think he's our next DiNardo?

I can see where you're coming from, but don't think it's a well-crafted argument. The two scenarios you just described are apples and oranges. Completely contrasting actually.

DiNardo and Crean's careers were/are going in totally different directions when they came to Bloomington.

Exactly Badger. If I remember right DiNardo had about 3 good years at LSU and then flamed out and got canned and replaced by Nick Saban (another Michigan State connection?)

Marquette has increased it's victory total each of the last 3 seasons, since joining the Big East, and has been in the NCAA tournament all 3 years. Crean's career has been on the upswing before coming to IU. DiNardo got canned from his last college job and was coming off a one year gig in the XFL.

And...the situations they were/are coming into are completely different too. Hate to say it, but the greatest period of IU football success I can remember during my lifetime was when coach Mallory had us going about 7-4 each year and going to low to mid level bowl games for about a 6-8 year period. That's about the best we can expect for IU football. There is no rabid fan base, no winning tradition. This is not a football state, this is a basketball crazy state. There are 5 champioship banners hanging up in our gym. Comparing those two things is like Badger said, apples and oranges.
