Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

With the UB and $25 to charity bet thing, I thought IU and Purdue could all come together on this. We should all pick one charity that eveyone can agree on and the losing fans should send at lease some ammount to the charity. Now, here is the catch.... I really don't think it will be fair to the IU fans, because at this rate, we will be lucky to win 10 games. We should still combine football and basketball, but I think IU should be given some sort of "head start" with maybe 5 or 6 games added to their total. If nobody is interested, that's cool, but I would love the competition, and it is for a good cause.

Also, everyone please go to www.freerice.com It's very free, easy, and can maybe save someone's life.

Great idea. We might have a problem reaching a consensus on the "head start" number. Some IU fans are talking about competing for the BT title next year.

I'd be up for it as long as it's a good charity. I already give a decent amount and don't make that much, so I like to know it's going for something worth while.

Why not have a shifting scale? If, lets say for example, Purdue wins by 4 then it could be a push (both would pay), If Purdue only wins by 3 or less then Purdue fans would donate, if they cover and win by 5 or more than IU fans would pay.

Now lets say Purdue loses by more than 2 than purdue fans would donate 1.5x the pledged amount. Or if IU gets blown out and Purdue wins by 8 or more than IU fans donate 1.5x.

Just a thought then no need for a head start just need to set lines.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

Something to do with sports?

big brothers big sisters?
United Way?

How about this would be great. Purdue fans have to donate to IU's general education fund and IU fans would have to donate to Purdue's general education fund.

Cheaper education for some low income students, and the universities would benefit.

Not a bad idea actually, I like it.

big brothers big sisters?

That works for me. I'm on the board of directors in my town, lol.

I think we should wait to make the odds until we see who's going to be on IU's team next year.

Cool idea, Tim! I'm in. We can work out the details this summer.

In the past I've won some bets from UB, and was about as successful as grad01 getting any payout. Here's what you get with UB:

I'm in, but I'm not in favor of any "headstart", and I'm an IU fan. If we aren't as good next year Hoosiers, let's take it like men, but allowing a headstart to me seems like giving in to defeate before the season even starts. I would never do that.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.
