Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

There is little doubt he will dominate Indiana recruiting.

He has had one recruit in his 9 seasons from the state of Indiana. We already have 3 in state players committed in '09 and Painter is already working hard on the top two or three from '10.

Given all that, plus Crean's recruiting history (nothing to be terribly afraid of), I'm not worried. He will get some good players, as will Purdue, but its not going to be as "dominating" as you may think.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

who cares what they think? Crean will finally provide the stability players want.

who would you rather play for:

Team A - play in front of sparce crowds in a dull arena. Few TV appearances nor any national media coverage. Little program tradition and an whiny chubby coach with little proven experience.

Team B - play in front of packed houses in one of the loudest arenas in the country on national tv regularly. Considered a top 5 elite program with the third most national titles of alltime for a charismatic coach with proven and final 4 experience.

Pretty easy choice

what UB says is usually sensationalistic and inflammatory -- but it almost ALWAYS has SOME truth to it. (except for those 'rumors')

DC has covered the attendance thing and Purdue was ahead last time we checked. We even packed the house when we had away games on the BTN.

Purdue will get a lot of TV attention in the upcoming years, you know how many times we heard baby boilers and robbie hummel?

Tradition is there, and there is always making your own tradition you know taking the road less traveled and all that. That is what got these players here and what will attract more players in the future. Ohh and we have Wooden the Mt Everest of tradition.

In your world no one would ever be great because they have "little proven experience" how the fuck do they get that experience, How about 3 NCAA appearances in 4 years and 3 22+ win seasons? I would say that is a good start.

We will see who is winning the big ten and auto bidding into the sweet 16 and who is fighting for Indiana table scraps as far as recruiting goes, can not wait for next year.

lol -- mackey is what, 12,000 deep? IU sells out 17,300 and has people breaking down the doors to get in every game. Can't wait for that new stadium.

oh, aren't they doing some sort of construction on mackey right now, and reducing the number of seats? the fact that mackey is able to sell out is a good thing, and a good sign for big ten basketball.

Where are you getting that Crean is a bad recruiter? Because he hasn't been able to recruit Top 20 classes at Marquette? Who could?

I like how when you talk about him not being a good recruiter you conveiniently leave out the fact that by most accounts, he is the person responsible for recruiting Mich. State Nat'l Championship team. Yeah, those guys really sucked.

I know this is hard for you to admit because you are a Purdue fan, but the man will be able to recruit better classes at IU than he could at Marquete simply because it is IU. Deal with it.

Also, has anyone heard a quote from Izzo on Crean's hiring at IU? I am sure he is not being nearly as cavalier about it as Purdue fan.

That might have something to do with there isn't jackshit to do in southern indiana.
