Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Both coaches have obviously done a good job at their respective schools, so try to be unbiased. I realize there are probably more IU fans here than Purdue fans, so this poll may not be totally "fair", and that's noted.

Try to judge your decision on what you know they have done and what they are capable of in the future.

Be honest.

I'm insulted Jaz even put this poll out.

In all honestly, Arch, I think Painter has done a good job at PU. For the time that he's been there, I think this question is probably legit.

As much as IU fans hate to admit it, Painter has the Boilers in a good position, and they play hard. Crean has proven that he goes after it as well, but to put it in perspective, neither one have had much time to prove they can sustain a winning program.

Seriously, I think it's a good question.

Depends on your criteria. Coaching resume, Crean because he has been a head coach for 9 years and Painter has for 3. Who would I want to take over my program? Matt Painter. I think he has more upside and is a great ambassador for the program and University.

Obviously, IU fans will say Crean in all circumstances, but thats to be expected.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

You will never hear me say the guy/girl/thing isn't funny. He is just blinded by Purdue hate to make coherent comments on a regular basis.

Matt "porkchop" Painter

Won the MVC championship his only year head coaching SIU and MVC coach of the year.

Took a 9 win Purdue team that finished 11th in the big ten to 4th and then 2nd in just 2 years. (and probably the odds on favorite to win next year)

Pulled a monster recruiting class, and continues to pull very good players.

Big ten coach of the year, 3 NCAA appearances in 4 years of head coaching!

I expect Purdue in the NCAA tournament for at least 7 straight years including the last 2.

Sum it up 4 years as head coach, one losing season (no one would go .500 with that team), 3 NCAA births, 2 coach of the year awards, finish 1st, 2nd, 4th and 11th in the respective conferences.

The best part is the current team is only going to get better and we still have 3 years out of the same team!

it's hard to tell, but since matt painter even associates with bruce weber, that's negative 10 life points... so that means crean is the temporary winner.

Won the MVC championship his only year head coaching SIU and MVC coach of the year. - inherited the team from Weeper

Took a 9 win Purdue team that finished 11th in the big ten to 4th and then 2nd in just 2 years. (and probably the odds on favorite to win next year) - solid job

Pulled a monster recruiting class, and continues to pull very good players. - hardly monster but good for turdue. IU circumstances greatly aided. pull very good players? why? they have a pulse?

Big ten coach of the year, 3 NCAA appearances in 4 years of head coaching! wow. such standards

I expect Purdue in the NCAA tournament for at least 7 straight years including the last 2. You must be banking on expansion to 128 otherwise I'll take the under

The best part is the current team is only going to get better and we still have 3 years out of the same team! in a perfect world

I'll edit this fiction
