Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Well the Cubs are trying for their first series win of the year in their game against the Astros today. Cubs fans should feel good that Zambrano is on the mound, who pitched a very good game on starting day vs the Brewers. He has a 0.00 ERA for the year so far. The Astros are pitching Backe who has a 3.60 ERA.

The Brewers are going for their first sweep of the year in the their game vs the SF Giants. Sheets is on the mound, who was also brilliant in his first game of the year with 0.00 ERA. Giants have Zito who has a 7.20 ERA. Ryan Braun had his first HR of the season yesterday, I'm looking for Prince Fielder to start lighting it up today. :D

Big Z got stuck in a jam in the first with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs but got out of it with a strikeout and Soriano throwing out a guy at home trying to tag up on a flyout! :)

Berkman is not in the starting lineup because of a minor injury, but might be able to pinch hit if needed later on.

Ben Sheets pitched a shutout against the Giants. He only allowed 5 hits and had 8 strikeouts. Brewers win 7-0 and now sport a record of 5-1

Barry Zito has to be the most over paid pitcher in baseball.

No that would be Clemons in 2005. I think he got 3 wins for the stros, cost them 8mil.

Cubs win 3-2 for Big Z's first win of the season.

DLee is hot this spring for a change, with a dinger to deep left to provide the winning margin. Soriano also hit one out but continues to struggle at the plate this year. He did have an assist in the game, throwing out Bourn at home.

Win puts us at 3-3.

Anyone else not crazy about Soriano ? Nothing to do with this year, I didn't like the deal when we got him. Fielding is terrible, except he has a strong accurate arm. No patience at the plate, swings for the fences. Lou put him back at leadoff, never will understand that.

Soriano will give you that jolt of power, but yeah, it is a little frustrating to watch his K's. But you really can't knock his defense, I think he's had something like 40 assists in the past two years, with a sick hose down at the plate today. He won't hit for that great of an average, but any given plate appearance could end up with a moon shot.

Congrats to the Brewers taking care of business today.

I agree and i would also say that for the Roger Clemens of last year as well, but i was talkin about this year, and as a whole one of the worst free agent signings ever.

Well this year.. yeah barry zito, would be up there maybe even the top overpaid pitcher. Soriano would get my vote for player, I don't think he is worth the money.

Surprising choice for worst FA player signing by you......
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Soriano has a gun (best in the bigs for my money) and can really unload when he gets a hold of a pitch. He is also being more patient at the plate, which should cut down on his K's. He does strike out a lot, but you'll take that when you also get the speed, arm, and bat that he has. The only gap in his game is being able to hit a breaking ball (or, rather, laying off of a breaking ball).
