Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

There is about a .00001% chance we win at Mackey next year.  However, you have no business calling anyone else a homer if you don't think IU could win at home.

We don't play at Assembly next year. But I'd bet $1 on IU to win at Mackey if I win $100,000.

100:1 Still bet on IU
50:1 STILL IU
20:1 I'd have to think about that one... :D

Also, I don't really understand why you make fun of us for being excited about Tom Crean saying "It's Indiana." It's been a while since we've had a coach that was just as passionate to be coaching here as us fans are.

Maybe that is all you have better to do than celebrating your next 3star, nobody has ever heard of him signing. (Don't respond to that, I just wanted to get a jab back to make myself feel better) :)

Because "IT'S INDIANA!!" means absolutely nothing. It explains nothing and IU fans have used that to explain the unexplainable way to many times.

Don't go making fun of 3 stars, thats what your entire '08 class is made up of.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

First off, depending what rating service you use, it could be argued Nick is a 4 star. Secondly, Considering Crean had virtually no time to recruit, what did you expect him to do, sign nothing but 5 and 4 star players??? :banghead: Come on Cam, you're better than that.

Also, it may mean nothing to you, but It's Indiana means a lot to a lot of people. I've never seen them win a title (I'm only 22), but I went to my first IU game this year and I can assure you when you look at the banners in the rafters, that it holds a very special meaning to so many. It gave me chills, I could only imagine what it would be like if I could remember seeing them cut down the nets and such. Saying it's Indiana means absolutely nothing (The basketball shcool in the basetball state) is complete bs and you know it.

And Painter signed two of the same caliber players with no playing time to offer. That is pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

Indiana University basketball means something. The phrase "IT'S INDIANA!!!" doesn't mean anything and is just a stupid phrase that Crean used because he knew it would get certain fans a hard on thinking about their newly christened coach, who is the savior (sound familiar) of the program, telling them about how important and special you guys are.

If he stood up there and talked about the tradition, thats fine. But that term is a representation of the stuck up, arrogant personality of many people in the IU fanbase. Looks like you have a coach that fits the bill.

You don't know what It's Indiana means to anyone, let alone me, so don't tell that it means nothing. I can assure you, to me it means something. Apparently it means something to many more people since they always use that as their rebuttle to you purdue fans?

I know you will be fairly deep next year, but it's not like there are 0 minutes to give away and they won't see any playing time. Also, you signed them away from Evansville, congratulations.

And I'm sure that is what Crean was trying to do; appeal to the arrogant and stuck up portion of the IU fanbase. I really don't understand you guys sometimes. You talk over on our board and are pleasant most of the time, and then you come back here and start threads and talk shit about our team, our sayings, our fans and it's really, really sad. It's Indiana, haha, good one. :fuckyou:

There are more than 0 minutes, but what top 50 type player is going to want to go to a school that will only offer 15-20 minutes at the most next season? We got two players in the 110-120 range that will only have to play that many minutes, or maybe less next season, and be able to develop before being counted on. IU is going to be counting on that type of player to win ball games early and often, which is not a good thing.

It was meant as tongue in cheek more than anything, it is a joke between Purdue fans, because for years and years and years, IU fans have been saying that phrase that really doesn't explain the argument at hand ever. Ex:

Purdue Fan: Why do you think IU will win a national title next season?
IU Fan: Because "IT'S INDIANA!!!"

Purdue Fan: Man, its going to be tough to grab that recruit from UCLA
IU Fan: But "IT'S INDIANA!!!!"

I have my disagreements about the Indiana basketball program, and its current state, but there are certain ways that IU fans act that are stupid and arrogant. I feel like it'd be a bit inappropriate to go out of my way to make fun of you guys on your own board. When I post on the IU side, I try and keep it respectful (even if I disagree). Sometimes I get too heated, but for the most part, I feel I do a pretty good job of being respectful while stating my opinions and thoughts. Some people take disagreement as constant bashing and choose to ignore the nice things I do say, but to each their own.

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. Those were dumb examples, but I'll let it be. I get your point, even though I'm not sure if you could really understand the meaning being a Purdue fan.

I guess to each their own is correct. I'm just not the type to run away from people and talk behind their backs. In fact, I usually don't say anything disrespectful to anyone, just the way I am. If i get fed up enough though, I'll just say it to you, and not go to another board and start a poll about it.

Obviously, there are ignorant fans in every school. There's no way around that. I just don't think it's fair to generalize an entire population and act like that is how we all act based on a few bad nuts.

I don't think taking a jab about what I think is a stupid phrase is really disrespectful. Either is making a poll about when I think IU will beat Purdue next.

I don't see how I'm being so disrespectful, but whatever. I was just laughing at when IU fans use that as a reason for being good at basketball when the team may not be so good.

Sorry for upsetting you, you seem like a nice guy, and we have had some good discussions in the past, namely you stealing my woman (BASTARD!!!). I don't mean to disrespect or bash IU, I have a great respect for the program and what it is (before Sampson), but I also disagree and will give those opinions. Honestly, let me know if you think I'm being an ass or something because my goal isn't to piss anyone off.

First, I don't think DC was in any way running off and starting something behind anyone's back. We (Purdue posters) take crap almost daily for constantly overrunning your half of the board and not keeping anything separate. So if people want to mark and defend "sides" of the board, then DC was just posting something that wasn't completely glorifying to IU (yes, such comments are occasionally spoken among mankind, even if they are so obviously the devil's words among us) on his half of the board with other like-minded people. That would just be respecting the board, Bri and Jaz, and keeping other posters off his back.

As for the "ZOMG IT'S INDIANA!!1!!!!1!" crap, to me that's just an extension of the sense of entitlement that seems to pervade the IU fanbase. Guys I went to high school with, people I've known for years, guys on this board, almost all the fans have this idea that the lone fact that the name on the jersey of "Indiana" grants them magical access to recruits, coaches, wins, seeding, and makes them deserving of all the praise and worship of every other fan. As a rival team's fans, we constantly see this double-standard that allows IU fans to spout a constant stream of crap about their naturally higher place in the hierarchy in every aspect, but when facts or events contradict that and Purdue fans call it out, all we hear is how that coach is a joke anyways, or that recruit wouldn't deserve to shine IU's bench. Crap can always flow from you to us, but never the other way without the defendall of "It's Indiana!" being tossed around like some small child claiming they have an invisible, impenetrable shield on.

Every fan has pride in their program and feels a sense of connection. That's why we're fans. But drop this entitled idea of innate superiority because it's not only incredibly annoying, it just makes you look like self-deluding pricks a lot.

(And I say all this to the fanbase in general, not any one poster or this particular group)

Well said Maker

obatskii. You are absolutely right about the generalizations. Most of us are guilty of it at some time or another. I always read your posts and they always seem to be well thought out and fair.

But with regard to the poll, are you saying you don't think the poll should have been started at all ? I don't think dc or any other reasonable PU fan would start it on your board. This board is the obvious place. We're always being told to" take it to your own board " or "This is an IU board ! " etc. So we bring it here and that's not OK either ?

For me, I say things here I wouldn't say there 'cause I don't want to flame and start a bunch of shit over there and then get the inevitable "IU board" stuff. But I do like to stir it up over there sometimes as do others, most notably dc. You guys can come here and do the same thing. Posted Image

Excellent post, Maker!

And to whomever went with "Never"
"Never" being the correct answer is about 10x more likely than "08-09".

Thank you Lars! Once I started, the rest just flowed! And by the way, I'm definitely loving the increased action over here! If we just had another 3-4 solid posters, this place would be hopping!

You talk over on our board and are pleasant most of the time, and then you come back here and start threads and talk shit about our team

For me, I say things here I wouldn't say there 'cause I don't want to flame and start a bunch of shit over there and then get the inevitable "IU board" stuff. But I do like to stir it up over there sometimes as do others, most notably dc. You guys can come here and do the same thing. Posted Image

Actually the poll was just an example that I made. I have no problem with the poll itself. I really just came over here to read up on what you thought about your new recruit, and ended up "trolling" for a while. I just got irritated because some of you on the IU board are almost always respectful, and then I started reading that and was caught off base a little bit.

And I know it must be frustrating for you guys as well. Some of even the quality Purdue guys, such as yourself and cam, get told to leave and post on your own board. I kind of forgot about that last night. Anytime something is said that they don't like, it's always "Don't you have your own board?" I guess I'm glad you post negative things here for the most part so the board remains enjoyable for everyone.

Also, Cam, I hope you don't think that I was calling you out in particular last night. It was really the fanbase in general, but I just kind of directed it towards you because I knew that I would get a well thought out response. If you took offense to any of that, I apologize.
