Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

Has anyone seen any good movies lately? I haven't watched or rented a movie in about 6 weeks. I just finished my final exam yesterday in my Quality of Science Master's Program and I feel let out of jail. Recommend anything that is either at the box office or rentals. I would greatly appreciate it.

I run the projection booth at the local movie theater, and having seen every movie that's playing currently, I'll tell you there's a lack of good movies.

Zohan - i chuckled, if you like adam sandler you'll like this movie, if you don't, you'll probably hate it.
The Love Guru - Horrible. Do not watch.
The Happening - Awful. Horrible acting, horrible story, horrible "twist" (if you'd even call it that).
Get Smart - Blah. Bland. Too long. I didn't like it.
Incredible Hulk - The "it's better than the first, but just by a little bit" Hulk
Kung Fu Panda - Suprisingly funny, and the fight scenes are pretty cool.
Sex and the City - . . . . . .

I think the safest bet at the movie theaters right now is too watch either the Hulk, or see Indy 4 or Iron Man again.
There's probably some cool indie movies out, but I'm from a small market and we just get the wide releases.

Saw The Happening about a week ago or so. Not that good.

Rent "The Orphanage." "El Orfanato." From the director of the new Pans Labyrinth. And if haven't saw the new Pans, you need to immediately.

Other movies that stick out, that I've seen recently. Even if old....

Sunshine - Excellent Sci-Fi
Magnolia - Empresses me more everytime
The Squid and The Whale - Jeff Daniels best role
The Door In The Floor - Jeff Bridges equals hilarious. Kim Basinger has never been hotter.
L.A. Confidential - Movie speaks for itself

good list.

I haven't gotten around to seeing the Orphanage yet, but I saw it was at the Redbox so I might pick that up later.

I've seen Iron Man, Get Smart, and Indy 4 so far this summer movie season. I enjoyed all of them and actually thought Get Smart was hilarious. Iron Man and Indy 4 kicked ass also.

Iron Man -- very good.
Indy 4 -- not so much, IMO.

sure the first 1/3 is a mashup of both Fight Club and the Matrix, but seriously
make a point to go see Wanted.

This movie reminded me of what summer movies used to be before Spiderman.

The director is this kick ass dude from Russia (where he directed the Nightwatch series - also a must see, if you can stand subtitles) and he brings his own fresh style to the movie.

It's funny as hell too.
Morgan Freeman says Mother Fucker.

oh yeah, and you see Angelina Jolie's backside completely naked.
maybe that will inspire you.

Went theater-hopping this weekend. Saw 4.25 movies for 7 bucks, always fun! Here's my rundown...

Wanted: entertaining, but so completely ludicrously ridiculous that it loses a noticeable amount of enjoyment

Hancock: overall not completely horrible, but if they would have stuck with the original direction of the movie instead of splicing a seemingly different script in for the second half, could have been great

Wall-E: as always, Pixar doesn't let down. Not quite as awesome as The Incredibles or Nemo was, but still quite solid. If you're between 15 and 25, it'd be a great date movie.

Get Smart: surprisingly good. Lots of laughs, and very well thought out. Oh, and Anne Hathaway is absolutely gorgeous. I mean, wow, really really hot.

The first 20 minutes of The Happening: I had no problem walking out of it. Eh.
