Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

Wow! I told some of you that there were very similar cases going on where the players were cleared and FInch had a chance. Now he will play this year and next!

So who loses their spot on the field? My guess is Austin Thomas will be seeing a lot less time and maybe Geno Johnson. Look out now, our defense may just be respectable this year!

The NCAA sure is an interesting bunch.

That should your guys' defense out though.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

haha, they sure are.

Also, apparently Finch will share the number 18 with Austin Starr. I believe the rule is you can have duplicate numbers as long they don't play on the same side of the ball (special teams/defense/offense).

Think teams like Nicholls State will still be able to run all over us now? This kid seems like a big difference maker on defense. Good for us and hopefully we can surprise some people this year.

I just hope he doesn't play before he is 100%. He can sit games like Western Kentucky and Murray State. How years of eligiblty does he have left?

He'll have 3 years of eligibilty left, but could bolt for the NFL in 2.

My guess is he will not start until our 3rd game of the season. That way he'll have plenty of reps with the first team in practice (that game is after our bye week).

The NFL in two years? Really? I know the kid has potential, but to leave early for the NFL you have to be REALLY good. I doubt if he wasn't fast enough to play safety at UF, he'll be able to leave early as a safety in the NFL.

Cam, don't let your disdain for IU cloud your vision on this one.

Let me ask a few questions here.

How difficult is it for a true freshman to start for any team in the entire country?
How difficult would it be for a true freshman to start after having to learn and entirely new position in fall practice?

Jerimy Finch did just that...for the defending National Champions. If you don't think this kid has NFL potential you are nuts. Obviously a lot has to happen for him to leave for the NFL early. His leg needs to be completely healed and he really needs to put up some eye popping statistics to get attention while he's at IU. That said, he certainly has the potential tp leave for the NFL early. Whether he has the dedication and work ethic to make that happen remains to be seen.

And where on earth did you hear that he was "too slow" for safety at UF? Florida was stacked at safety last year with Senior captain Tony Joiner and Major Wright, who is an nfl caliber safety in his own right. Finch moved to LB because he was too good to keep off the field. Period.

First of all, Finch never started at UF. Did he get into a few games at LB? Yes, but he was not a starter, big difference there. He played a little in those first three games where UF won by an average of like 34 points.

If UF was so stacked at S, why are they starting two 2007 recruits this year at S, while backing them up with a freshman, another 2007, and a junior?

Finch has a chance to be a very good player, but you are talking about him leaving for the NFL before he has ever played a snap at safety in his college career. He had 7 tackles and an INT in 3 games, and now he is getting ready for the NFL? Really?

My disdain (I disdain IU???) for IU has nothing to do with this, its the annoying crap about X player being so good before they have ever done anything on this level that warrants those expectations that annoys me. I'd feel the same way if someone on the Purdue board was off spouting about how Hummel or Moore have a chance to go pro after this season when they probably don't, and heck, they have already be All-Conference players.

Let the kid play a snap at safety for IU before you claim him to be some exceptional player who will be leaving early for the NFL.
