I doubt we have much shot at Franklin anymore. No reason in particular but it seems we have cooled on him lately. Watford and Cheek are real possibilities and if they commit we will definitely have a top five class. We may have a top 5 if only one of them verbals. People are talking on Scout that SVT and IU are talking about him walking on for 09 and having a scholly in 10. Don't know how people would know this but this would allow us to get the extra big we need and possibly two dynamic wings. |

I'd take Crean's recruiting over Painters in a heartbeat, but Purdue does have a pretty decent class for 09 and thus far have landed a rivals top 70 forward, Travis Carroll, for 2010. Edited by mongo, Aug 28 2008, 08:46 AM.

once Crean gets Cheek and or Watford, IU will have a top 3 class. Porkchop's '07 class was a fluke. You had 4 AAU (now 3) butt buddy moma boys that wanted to share steam showers together. With IU finally having stability at coach (usually takes at least 3 after a legend is gone) IU will clean up whatever recruits they want both nationally and statewise. and coach triple chin will be left with the Gary Nowares. let the furnace builders get a few licks in this year. it will be all they get. |

It is a great class. Congratulations. There is one problem with your scenario Gobbler. Cheek and Watford are both 2009 class and you have one scholarship left. Need me to do the math for you ? |

good problem to have if it comes to that. Unfortunately, neither of these kids are Indiana bred fed and burped so that is a HUGE negative. :loser: Gives Porkchop a grand opportunity to clean up some more 1/2 star lafeyette midgets with great "upside".   |

       By the way BOB, I either read on Rivals or Scout that we could go over one scholarship, which means we could possibly sign both Cheek and Watford. If I can find that article or post, I will share it with everyone. And since that is the case, this is a good dilemma to have. |

You gave up two in anticipation of the APR. It may have something to do with that. I don't know. I would be interested in the article. |

Why'd you quote me Bob? Or were you trying to quote UB? |

We are definitely going to over sign by 1 for 09. Although I don't like the idea I think someone (Jones, Roth, or Story) will get run off next year. Someone will get "homesick" and CTC and they player will "mutually agree" that is in the players best interest to move closer to home. |

Sorry Mongo. UB is on ignore and sometimes it's hard to tell. I try not to quote him for the benefit of others who choose to ignore him. In reference to IUPAC, knowing that one player had to go next year would sure put a few guys on edge, unless it was already known who it was. But if IU could sign Watford and Cheek, it would be worth it. |
