We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful. I have family in Tallahassee, which is remotely close to New Orleans. I am extremely thankful for it not hitting there, but still remorseful for those lost. |

Been watching a lot of CNN today. Thank God, Gustav as been as destructive as Katrina was, but there are still some concerns on whether the levees will hold. |

That's too unfortunate. Their mayor did an excellent job getting the evacuation process underway quickly this time... I didn't think there would be any casualties from this one. :-/ |

Sometimes people are just to stubborn to leave their homes or flat out aren't able to. I dont know if that was the case in those 7 deaths but that could have played a role. |

I'm not sure either rob, but I did see that this guy actually drove his car to the coastline and was in some pretty deep shit. I don't understand it. Hurricane coming. Jazen leaving. Pretty simple. :) |

Hoosier Daddy?!

I read this one article that talked about a lady who fled when Katrina hit and had to go to Texas and Tennessee before finally returning to New Orleans after being away for a couple of months. She said that she was tired and wasn't going to leave. Said she wasn't scared and nobody could force her to leave. Hey, I can't relate to what she's been through, but is it really worth risking your life just because you're tired? |

New Orleans will be a ghost town before this is all said and done. Read this article posted on Yahoo this morning.... Financially, we just can't afford to rebuild rebuild rebuild.... the numbers are stunning and it's OUR tax dollars that help support it. Rather interesting article |

I agree that it certainly isn't over either. Like the article stated, Gustav was only category 2 and was 70 miles west of the city. It could be much worse. I mean, how long until another one comes along and wipes everything out again? Engineering can only protect them so much. |

Saw lots of car with Louisiana plates here in Little Rock this weekend. It think about a third of the cars that I saw in the parking lot at Target were from Louisiana. Luckily they weren't hit too bad, and a lot of them shouldn't be displaced for to too long. |

I've heard everything from a week to two months....either way not nearly as bad as Katrina. Most of those houses are STILL uninhabitable due to the mold. |
