Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Sounds like pretty much a done deal.

Congrats, I know many of you guys really wanted this kid.
no - not me. I've been told he's from out of state and therefore cannnot possibly be any good.

after all, only 1/4 star white kids from the state of Indiana know how to play basketball. that is why Turdue is a burgeoning powerhouse and will not lose a game for perhaps the next 5-6 years. I wish Crean would offer Porkchop an all-you-can-eat lunch at the nearest Sizzler so he will share his deep recruiting secrets. I mean, landing 5'6 academically challenged gnomes is the path to national titles.

unfortunately, the closest sizler to indiana is in either nebraska or NY. http://www.sizzler.com/locations/where_we_sizzle.asp

otherwise, that'd definitely be the meet-up spot for the first board convention.

Road Trip!!!!
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

This is as good as done and then add the recent offer to another African big man in Alabama....Damn! I don't know what we've got going in Alabama but it's working out. So will it be Manuri or Brandt with Braswell as a long shot to join Watford in completing our 09' super class. You can add Rivers to that...sorta, and then theres a the gravy possible addition of SVT. Fuck! Shame we can't suit'm up this year.
I haven't heard much on Rivers... why "sorta"?

I thought he was a solid player at Georgetown, and Crean is a guard coaching genius. I think he'll fit in great with the plethora of talented guards we have.

Seriously, if Crean plays his cards right, and everyone stays..... it's going to be scary. We're going to be the fastest team in the nation easily. A fast paced offense, most of you guys will shit your pants!

I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!! :D

P.S. Someone had mentioned Verdell Jones transferring down the road, can somebody give me an explanation to that thought? I thought all of the commitments are coming here because it's a golden opportunity and they WANT to be here now? I could be wrong... Someone clear that up. Thanks !

There is only so much playing time to go around. Also, I read that Crean pretty much had a player or two per year transfer while at Marquette. He demands a lot of his players, and not every player can handle that day in and day out.

And a lot of the "they WANT to be here now" talk is just recruit speak when they make their decision. Every single player says that when they commit, yet some still transfer. You shouldn't buy that as the truth until they show up on campus and act that.

Jones is a prime transfer because IU really came out of nowhere for him and its going to be a very crowded backcourt. Nothing but speculation really.

Sorta meaning he's in the 08' class but will be on the court with the 09' class.

I was one of the posters that feel that Verdell is the logical transfer possibility. Dumes will play a lot of point. He'll have to to get minutes after this year. Rivers is here for two years and brings a different mix of skills than the rest, Hulls is the Indiana boy with the truest facilitator skills and Jones is physically underdeveloped. I think Story would be the #2 guy for transfer posibilities.

All speculation. I think I would start Dumes for two years at the point with Rivers taking over his senior year redshirt Hulls his first year so he's two years behind Jones, giving Jones the reins as a Senior with Hulls having two years after that. That's the best way to balance that if everyone can handle waiting their turn. What will be interesting is seeing Story, Williams, Creek, and Roth balance minutes especially if we go to a lot of traditional looks with Jobe or whichever center we get next and then use Pritchard, Capo and Elston at the 4 making Watford the 3.

Wow we'll be deep.

Fuck yeah boys!!!! This is awesome and definitely puts a stamp of approval on this recruiting class. I've heard rumors that we may oversign and get another, but even if this is it, it's awesome. And look at the balance too of the class :)

Here is the latest from Inside The Hall:

Watford makes the call: It’s Indiana
By Alex | September 9, 2008

As speculated, Christian Watford wasted little time after a visit with Tom Crean to decide where he’ll be playing come the fall of 2009. The 6-7, 215 pound forward from Birmingham’s Shades Valley HS pledged to the Hoosiers on Tuesday less than a month after attending Indiana’s Elite Camp.

He joins Maurice Creek, Jordan Hulls, Derek Elston and Bobby Capobianco in a class that will likely be rated among the top 10 nationally.

Watford was also considering Kentucky, Louisville, Alabama and Memphis. He’s rated the No. 34 prospect in the 2009 class by Rivals.com.

When asked his thoughts on the program a couple of weeks ago by Justin Young of Rivals, Watford offered these comments:

“They have a real good basketball tradition there and I think coach Crean is going to come in and restore the program. Basically, I just like their tradition. It’s Indiana, you know.”

This is awesome. I think this possibly gives us a top 5 class! headbang2 What do any of you think?

Crean :yourock: hail to Crean

Haha I was thinking the same thing! I guess the name Indiana still means something in some high schools, but more importantly its apparent Crean can SELL Indiana. I am feeling good right now.
