Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I just took the time to listen to the entire 1st debate online, and I've got to say that I'm leaning considerably towards Andrew Horning.
 brother!

Faithful, I like Horning also, but do you think he has a chance? I don't really have a big problem with Mitch. I wish he would have eliminated property tax, but capping it at 1% was a step in the right direction I guess.
Aaron, I strongly urge you to vote for who you think will be the best man (or woman) for the job and for no other reason. Forget odds of winning, just vote for who you support. If it is Mitch, then so be it. If you support Horning but vote for Mitch, you're doing nothing other than helping to further legitimize the two party monopoly over the way things are run in this country. You're doing a disservice to your country and those that sacrificed for us to be free of a tyrannical style of governance.

Do the right thing, you know what it is.

I don't think he stands a chance, but people will have to see other people willing to vote 3rd Party candidates before more will follow. Personally, I dislike both of the other candidates. I dislike Daniels a little less, but this is one case where I'll choose not to vote the lesser of evils, since I think they're pretty comparable anyways.

I agree on the fact that he needs a revamped website. Good to hear you like what you've seen/heard so far though.

Old School,

I live in NC so my opinion doesn't matter. My parents watched the debate and will be voting for your guy. My dad said if you watched the debate it is a no brainer he stood out as the real leader.

Ahh, I forgot about your NC status. Great to hear about your folks though!

Two Horning votes should equal one McCain vote. joking

I think he will do better than 5% my dad said the neighbor liked him also. Mitch has a few non fans so Horning should pick them up. I wish the Libertations could put a platform together because the climate is ripe for them if they could only lose the nutcases and focus on real issues.

Horning did pretty well. He got a lot of laughs. He lost a lot of people when he talked about removing the social service system. Indiana used to be in the top-5 for child deaths due to neglect, so that's going to be a hard topic to take that stand on. I don't think Horning really would want to do away with that system, but he's trying not to be a hypocrite by sticking to being a true constitutionalist. He'd win a lot more votes if he said he'd wait until local governments had established a replacement system first at least.

Long Thompson disappointed me the most. She's running on just being the anti-Daniels. Almost all of her comments were just negative attacks on Daniels without offering a positive outlook. She comes across as really fake. She puts on an extremely fake smile every time the camera is right about to go to her, and it disappears as soon as her turns up. You could tell that everything she said was prescripted, and she offered no rebuttals. She also mentioned her educational background a lot. It's great that she's got an education from IU and all, but I've heard her mention the exact same line half a dozen times in the first two debates, which makes it come off kind of snobbish.

Daniels did pretty well. Horning and him seem to get a long really well, so you never see an attack between them. Most of his time was spent refuting Long Thompson's claims. I haven't researched enough to know who's telling the real truth, but it was impressive that he came-up with good arguments for his rebuttals.

I agree with your analysis. I was pretty surprised to hear Horning bring that up, I wish he would have framed it better. Other than that, I think he did terrific again. It's refreshing to hear somebody espouse the views I've been preaching to an actual audience. I rant about these things, but there are never more than 15-20 people around when I do, and even that's stretching it. It's usually just 3-5 people.

I am in total agreement about Long Thompson. From the two debates so far, I've grown to hate her. She repeats herself endlessly and ends every other round with "that's why I want to be governor." It's completely unoriginal. The thing I hate most, however (and Horning even called her out on this), is how she brags about her past experience "creating jobs". The notion that the government can "create" jobs is pure economic fallacy. Every time I heard her spew this nonsense I started shouting at the radio. She's definitely on my shit list. I'm dying for one of the idiot College Democrats to come up to me and talk about her, I'd obliterate them with the quickness. Just thinking about it gets my adrenaline pumping, haha.

Daniels is an establishment character, he's nothing special. He and I may agree on some things, but for the most part our reason for agreeing would be more or less arbitrary, not due to pertinent philosophical similarities.
