  • Government Bailout?
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Do you support a government bailout?
Yes, without a doubt. I trust the government to make the right decisions. 0 (0%)
Yes, but I have some reservations. 0 (0%)
Maybe, I don't know enough about the situation to lean either way. 1 (6.3%)
Not as currently structured, but I'd think about it the format is revamped. 5 (31.3%)
Absolutely not. The government can only work to exacerbate the situation. Busts are an unavoidable feature of economies operating under a central bank. 10 (62.5%)
I don't care, shame on me. 0 (0%)

Not as currently structured. I am absolutely against it, but I heard a discussion with Mike Pence where they are talking about negotiating an insurance policy with the busted companies that will allow them to stay in operation, but on their own dime, not the governments. I don't know much detail about that at all, but perhaps it had some merit....not sure.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Fucking Ron Paul,

I was with him up until about the 2:45 mark. Then he went into no troops any where in the world bullshit. The fact is evil countries exist and we must defend ourselves. i was 100% agreeing with him until then. The bailout is a bad move. I think we are kinda fucked if we bail it out or do not bail it out.

"I was with him up until about the 2:45 mark. Then he went into no troops any where in the world bullshit."-boilergrad

do we really have to do this again? our entire foreign policy problems stems FROM the fact we think we have to BE EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME. have you ever once thought that if we werent on someone's border or (shudder, someone's LAND) they might not feel inclined to defend themselves? NOTICE: not everybody views us as a benevolent presence. to date the US currently operates over 736 foreign bases. how many does russia operate? 0. how many does china operate? 0. north korea? 0. iran? 0. see a pattern here?
face it boilergrad, WE HAVE BECOME AN EMPIRE. and most people do not like empires staking claim to their backyard. in the day and age of domestic base closings and foreign base expansion: what does that tell you? it tells me our military is no longer committed to defending our borders, it's committed to expanding the empire.

good God almighty. the man is not "over the top." he is SPOT ON. you guys need to listen to him. i know his message flies in the face of "conventional wisdom" but... ask yourself...just how wise am i?
if all im fed is this bullshit that (in this case) foxnews tried to feed me, how can i really know what's what? dr. paul held his own and did not cave to whatever bullshit analogy was thrown his way. if you all would have only listened to us in january... headbang2
---i am a paulite and i approve this message

If I felt that Ron Paul could actually get his ideas implemented, I'd be with him on 90% of his ideas.

unfortunately, its probably the 10% you disagree with that will lead you to the slaughter. im telling ya, why old school and phil take a beating over him without me being mentioned blows my mind. maybe its because i attack everybody. i love dr. paul. something tells me he's leading the house republican revolt to hold up this "bailout" plan.
on an aside, i talked to my dad tonight about this mess. he's a democrat who's going to vote obama. i presented all my points ive made here to him, (even logged on and let him read my posts without telling him I posted the particular message.) he thinks this "ron paul guy" is the greatest thing since sliced bread and canned beer. he actually wanted to know why he didnt run for president. :banghead: such is my albatross.

It wouldn't be the 10% that I disagree with that would keep me from voting from him.

What would keep me from voting for him is the thought that in the current political climate, an outsider basically wouldn't have any chance of congress actually implementing their plan.
