Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I'd say the faults of the McCain camp are pretty much in equilibrium with the faults of the Obama camp. Shocking idea: vote third party.

I'm actually considering voting "third party", since I know it won't make a difference in my state

enemy, she has done the Charlie and Katie interview, both journalists with a left slant. The main stream media have been assholes to her for the most part, so seriously, why should she do them any favors? They are no friend of hers. Let's see Obama go on Hannity's show, or perhaps Glenn Beck. Why won't he? Because he basically has nothing to gain by getting beat up by right wing journalists, and from a political standpoint, I don't really blame him. The same goes for Palin IMO. What do you think?

...first off obama has done o'reilly...second off palin still hasn't done a live interview...i said on here before and i'll say it again...the gop KNOW that she is not ready for a live interview...even conservative columnists are getting embarrassed by her...

Kathleen Parker in the National Review Online

...now, is biden the smartest man in the world...NO...but atleast he could correctly fill out a map of the middle east and tell you what a bank does...is it embarrassing that those are the criteria for vice president these days...YES...

...come on man, she is an embarrassment...you have to admit...the gop knows that she is not ready and they are obviously hiding her and coaching the shit out of her in the meantime...

...aaron, as much as you and i disagree, we have to be seeing eye to eye on this...contrary to what i'm sure you believe, i am not stubborn...i will even admit to you right now that you seem to be right about the clinton's not wanting obama in office...now you have the chance to admit that the gop made a mistake when they chose palin...

I think they are hiding her because they are afraid she will say something stupid or just look stupid in general.

enemy, I see all of your points, and I am going to try to give you the best answer I can on this. For starters, I am happy with the Palin pick, and have been very vocal about that on this board. I was very displeased with McCain, but the Palin nod actually won me over.

Now, like I said, I completely understand your points. She did not come across well in a few of her interviews, (which weren't exactly "friendly", and it appears that she is uneducated on some key issues. I don't attribute that to her intelligence, because knowledge and IQ don't go hand in hand.

enemy, it depends on what you are looking for if you like Palin or not. If you are looking for a veteran politician with loads of experience and deep knowledge of all of the issues, she is not your candidate. That being said, neither is Obama. If you are looking for someone fresh with a history of conservative principles who hasn't been corrupted and bogged down yet in the politics of Washington, she is your ideal pick. The same for Obama, with the exception of liberal principles instead of conservative ones.

I am personally SOOOOO disgusted with the direction our country has gone and the "leadership" in Washington, I am inclined to really pull for someone who isn't connected to the establishment on either side of the aisle. I believe that she has the ability to learn on the fly regarding the relevent national issues (which she is doing) and then apply her conservative principles to them. This is very very similar to the popularity of Obama on the other side, but he has been "learning" the issues for a few years now, as his campaign for the White House obviously started well before Palin's. Case in point, it seems as though his popularity has declined as he has drawn himself closer to Washington and the politics of old. People are fed up, and many of them don't even know why, but Sarabama's popularity is a true testiment to that fact, because neither are strong on issues right now, nor do they have any experience, but they are both basically rock stars amongst their followers.

Does that make sense?

...aaronk,

...i appreciate having a sensible discussion with you and not a namecalling fiasco... :D

...anyway, i guess we will agree to disagree...i think she is extremely inept and that the gop is hiding her...this is obvious to me...and to be honest, i like her to...as a person...but not as vice president or president...i just don't think we should vote for someone because they'd be fun to hang out with...we made that mistake 8 years ago...

...i too am disgusted with the leadership and direction that our country has gone...maybe you are right and she can learn on the fly...although it is extremely scary that she could be in office in four months and she is learning on the job...you say obama has been learning for a few years now...well a few years from now, if she wins, she will almost be done with a whole term...you have to admit that is scary...to be elected you have to be ready from day 1...not on day 1100...just my opinion...

...and i agree with you that these politicians lose popularity as they draw closer to washington and the politics of old...this disgusts me...and as i've said on here before this almost always causes me to vote for the lesser of two evils...candidates become obsessed with winning and forget about the values that endeared them to voters to launch them to prominence...it really does disgust me...but at the same time intrigues me as i get to watch these people change right before my very eyes...as entertainment weekly exclaimed this week "Politics, The Real Reality Television"...it is sad what politics have become and there are just too many people to blame for this evolution, that, is a whole other thread...

...and yes, you used the word "Rock Star", to perfection, to describe how this country now votes for public office...it is truly embarrassing...

enemy, I agree with almost everything you said on here, but if I remember right, aren't you pulling for Obama? If so, doesn't his lack of experience and substantive knowledge scare you as it would with Palin? I agree that with either of them, that is a negative that could create a problem and is a risk, but it would seem that Obama is more of a risk because he is trying for hte #1 spot, while Palin is going for #2, assuming nothing happens to McCain.

That being said, I think it is worth the risk to have someone in office who isn't tied to the politics of old, whether that be Obama if you believe in his mostly liberal philosophy, or Palin if you agree with her mostly conservative philosophy. Their lack of experience and knowledge would not stop me from voting for either one of them right now because of the f-ed up state that our current politicians have created. Just a thought.

...well, well, well, aaronk we're getting somewhere...

...yes, i am pulling for obama, but i am by no means a democrat...i actually wanted a clinton/obama ticket...i thought obama was a perfect vice president...as i've said i find myself voting for the lesser of two evils...and it has been a long time since i even remotely respected a republican as i lean to the left and could never agree with a majority of their beliefs...i personally would rather cast my vote for a candidate who has a chance of winning an election rather than to just waste a vote on a third party who has no chance of winning (i know, this probably burns the shit out of oldschools ears, hell maybe even yours) but that's just my opinion...hopefully, someday soon there will be a viable third party candidate to throw into the mix...

...as for obama's lack of knowledge scaring me, i have to say no, it doesn't...when or where has he done anything scary...he holds his own if not comes out on top of anyone he shares the stage with...he is a very quick study, which is what a president needs to be...no one can be completely prepared for that job...everyday is a new situation and he has proved to be, like i said, a quick study...and palin, certainly, has not...

that's interesting, because I feel essentially the same way about Obama that you feel about Palin. I feel like he struggles when he is forced to get off script, which happened in the O'Reilly interview, but he rarely participates in unfriendly interviews, but with the left slant in the majority of the media, most of Palin's interviews will be unfriendly. For example, she did very well with Hannity, but we would all expect her to. That is similar to Gibson or Couric interviewing Obama. I'm sure Hannity would probably make Obama look very ignorant and scary, which is why there is really no benefit to him interviewing with Hannity.

As far as her "intelligence" I think the jury has to still be out there. I would suggest that you reserve judgement until she has truly been out there for a while. I'm sure Obama and many many others looked very "stupid" also in their early national interviews. I like Palin's philosophies, but I am not going to pass judgement either way on her intelligence level at this time.

Katie Couric isn't so much left slanted as she is a powderpuff interviewer. Seriously, it someone that a bright conservative candidate should knock out of the ballpark.

the election is slightly more than a month away... don't you see the danger in this woman of whom we know so little? and what I do know of her, I don't like.

What are they hiding? Let us see the real Sarah. She is a joke. If McCain has a prayer of winning this election, he needs to replace her...pronto.
